Dead Macedonians lay everywhere in their path as the Ajaj army steamrolled north towards Athens. Aleksander's regulars just could not stand up to the razor edge of the qurtan. When they came in sight of Athens, they discovered small company of spearman waiting for them. A few short volleys of arrows from well-trained Ajaj archers had them retreating back into the city.
The Ajaj entered Athens without so much as a stray arrow to resist them. They burned several buildings to the ground and routed any enemies hiding in them. But soon a small group of archers came upon the construction site of the Colossus. As the workers scrambled to arm themselves a number of German Werewolves came out from the buildings surrounding the construction site. They stood atop the Colossus's pedastal and shouted to something behind the statue. After a moment a swarm of Aleksander's warriors poured out from either side of the Colossus. The archers swore, fired some arrows into the crowd ineffectually, and fell back to warn the main army.
The Macedonians fought valiantly, and the Ajaj army, realizing it was heavily outnumbered, retreated outside Athens' walls. Several Macedonian warriors stood atop the walls and cheered and shouted victory cries. They were soon silenced by the black iron heads of Ajaj arrows and fell off the wall.
And so the siege continued.

Sorry about my sudden absence (if anyone noticed). It's school season, and the homework was piling up while I NESed to my heart's content, then suddenly the dam broke and I found myself w/o computer access. I'll send in orders as soon as I've read the rest of the thread.
