Snofru's Space Maps

You have >90% fresh experience if you use a new map from this collection. I am generally of the opinion that achieving 90% is sufficient - getting the last 10% means at least twice the effort, live is too short for this.

If you want to play the game from beginning to end repeatedly it is more fun to have different earth parts compared to playing the same map again. That's probably clear to you, so I don't get your point.

I'll stop the chain by repeating that my point is that you make it sound as if the SPACE part is different, whereas it's instead the same one, so it's not really a different SPACE map.

Possibly a dumb question but you state that you highly recommend we also use raxo2222's modmods. Is this mod included in the SVN version or do I need to download and install it?

BTW, thanks for creating the maps!

It is not in the SVN and needs to be installed manually (as described in the link you have posted). Unfortunately it seems that the last version of raxos modmod is not compatible with the current SVN version (I haven't tested it for myself, though). We are still waiting for an updated version by @raxo2222 .
Hey,
I'm trying to open 9 newest maps you have provided. I saved them in folder with other space maps included in C2C V43 mod from Jan 16 2023 (one downloaded from here https://www.moddb.com/mods/caveman2cosmos/downloads ). Each time I receive error "Failed to read worldbuilder file". What can I do different? Should I reinstal whole mod or run some additional script?
Thank you for any help :)

Thank you very much for all help and maps, I couldn't locate the patch. I will play the hell out of them :)
Just download SVN, if your Internet isn't totally dead.
Even compared to v.43.1, enough time passed that SVN has changed quite extensively.

Duel map 16 has some chunks of Earth on the borders of Mercury, so when you build a Venus colony you can enjoy the sight of penguins chilling out there - but maybe not by design.

The way the planets are complete belts on at least one Duel map makes it impossible for, say, Solar Workships to ever get to Orbit to make routes as their description suggests they can.

I see. We knew that the space part of the duel maps were not made according to the recent "rules" for such a map. In fact the Duel maps are already very old and I won't make any new ones. Thank you for the hint, but the effort would be too much for me to repair these somehow outdated maps.
Of course you can use Worldbuilder and create a "canal" for the Solar Workships.

So I am a few turns away from the Transcendent Lifestyle and I have yet to able to build World Seed ships. I also noticed that with each new tech discovery, there are a ton of new buildings I should be able to construct which I cannot.
I seem to have all the requirements to build Seed ships or am I wrong in assuming this?
I've attached a saved game if it helps.

Please be clear - there is no unit called "Seed Ship", do you mean the "Worldship"?
Worldships can only be built in the Solar System, meaning not on Earth, Moon or planets. Checking the Pedia you will find that a Deep Space Spacecraft Factory is needed, which can only be built if a Deep Space Docking Bay and a Deep Space Factory is present. These require more buildings, and so on. I also haven't checked if you already have the Tech you need for these buildings. The Pedia is really helpful with this. And I have to say you really need to meet a lot of requirements to build a Worldship.

The way I usually find out about requirements is:
  1. Go to a city in the solar system, e.g. "Outer Space1" on your map.
  2. Select the Unit Tab.
  3. On the window that shows all units that can be built click on the red icon "show trainable units only" and you will see greyed-out icons, including the worldship.
  4. Hover over the Worldship icon and you will see written in red "requires Deep Space Spacecraft Factory". For more details right-click and you will find the Worldship-entry in the Pedia.
  5. Now go to the Buildings Tab, show the unbuildable buildings and look what you need for the "Deep Space Spacecraft Factory"
  6. Continue until you meet all the requirements.

Thanks for the explanation. I was getting worried when I only had one more 'lifestyle' era to go and I was unable to colonize outside the solar system.

By the way, thanks for your hard work developing and maintaining these maps! You have an incredible imagination to come up with all the future techs and buildings.

Hi There. I'm a long time player. I've played some of the space maps. Good fun. I wish there were more to choose from. I'm not good at Modding. Is there an easy tutorial for dummies like me to create new, random space maps? Again...I'm not a programmer. I don't know how to write code.

I am not a programmer either...
Changing the space part of a map is quite tedious and probably has to be done in worldbuilder - too much effort for me. Changing the "earth" part is simpler especially since @imprus has provided a script that can easily combine a standard map with a given space map. The script is provided here (use only "script1" from this link, not "script"!), some explanation how to do it is here. If you have no experience in coding and e.g. in working with Notepad++ it might still be difficult to use this...

OK. Thanks. Yea...I was referring to the Earth part. I will check out the link, Thanks.
