Snoopy's Terrain Graphics Modpack

Thanks for making the game look like what it should have looked like when it first came out Snoopy your mod is by far my most favorite one, keep up the good work.:egypt:

This is beautiful! Although I manage to "stumble into" enemy territory once in a while since the nation borders are well hidden in the jungle - but that's quite realistic actually :)

This is a "must have" modpack

Just to let folks know, Over at Apolyton Sn00py recently said he would have the new graphics mod up as soon as he gets the webspace (Thursday). Their server is probably going to get beaten up pretty bad for a few days. Maybe we can get him to post it here at CFC, too. :D

If anyone is interested, I've got a screenshot with the beta version in the Stories and Tales forum in the B3 Literary English thread. (It's the 5th post on the page.)

I've uploaded it Thunderfall, could you check to see if it's all there? I am not sure if it all went thru. it should be roughly 2.99 megs.

I was going to include the following but believe it or not it made the file size too big to upload, sigh

CIVILIZATION III

Terrain Modification

If you are unsure if you will like this mod or if you wish to go back to the original terrain files sometime, then you must first back up the original files before you use these. If you do not, then you will have to reinstall Civ3 to get the originals back.

Unzip the files directly into your /Art/ directory. All the correct directories are provided so your unzipper should unzip them correctly.
Overwrite all.

There is one file called "X-o_ALLstates-sprite" this file belongs in the /Art/ Directory, it will change the "circle" shaped button that you push when you want to confirm a yes command. It will also change the X slightly.

The Modpack

Mountains that have no jungle on them are now grey with a slight yellow hue, but I have left the jungle mountains red, as there are mountains that are red and I believe they are usually in the tropical areas. There are many of you who complain and want all your mountains grey, well tough, Earth's mountains are not all grey, and if you don't like that, then make the sea yellow with purple dots, I don't care.

The original mountains also shot out from the ground and mountains don't exactly do that, they gradually get higher and higher surrounded by hills, but unfortunately it would not look good if the tree's looked 3x bigger than the hills and the hills as big as the mountains. So shrinking things would only kill the look that Civ3 can achieve. But I did add a few hills around the base of the mountains to try and help it.

The original snow on the snow-top mountains were horrible, I know what they did to make that snow and it's just terrible, looks like fluff, so I have changed that too.

Now, about the forests, not the jungles or the pine tree's, but the other ones, there are 3 colours, the very very dark ones are on tundra, the very autumn like ones are on plains, and the nice green ones are on grassland.

I have put small tree's around rivers, because without them, the river looks like it's floating wherever there are tree's, but now it doesn't look so bad.

The rest of the terrain is obvious.

If you see any mistakes, errors, etc, email me icedan@myrealbox.com thanks.

Stupid question perhaps...is that the finalized version of this modpack (3.46 meg) linked to in the first post of this thread??

Thanks for all the hard work Sn00py! Looks awesome.

Cool you finished it sn00p! I'm really looking forward to this (just reinstalled Civ3 to gaze at it), but... the file doesn't show up in the upload directory listing (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads/). Where is it supposed to be and what's its name? :crazyeye:

Looks like it didn't go thru.... Can you upload it again? It was probably a file size problem since it came so close to 3 MB.

To make it easier, I've (temporaily) increased the upload file size limit to 3.5 MB. That should do it. :)

The file is called "April06GraphicsModSn00py" it's a zip file aswell.

It didn't upload, but I am uploading it now, I'll let you know once its done.

Looks good, Snoops. Downloaded and will check it out next time i play. :goodjob:

Thanks, been waiting all day. You have enhanced the playability of this game many times over. We all owe you a great deal...:goodjob:

snoopy, this version doesn't contain new irrigation graphics and greener grasslands? I kinda miss the green grassland.

The rivers and coast/oceans graphics are great!! :goodjob:

snoopy i have one word for you:fantastic:D  :D
you are a master into this hey mayby you could kick sids ass and take the laed and make civ4
that is much better

snoopy you are our only hope:crazyeye: :crazyeye:

hehe I didn't make the grass greener because I felt that the grass as it is now is fine, it did look kind of cool to have that really lush green grass, but when I looked at it again a while ago I kind of realised that maybe its a little bit TOO green, especially around cold areas, etc, I think that the original green fits well with all climates.

I have not included the new cities, not just because the file size would make it too high to upload, but because I haven't finished them yet hehe, there's much more to do, and there are problems, the biggest one being the fact that irrigation around the front edges of cities overlaps it, it doesn't look too bad, and some of the tops of cities are getting cut off aswell so I have to go back and fix them. my fav cities are the european ones right now.

Thanks Mizaq for your help.

and about civ4, I have been thinking a lot about it.
