So, who is taking Civ V release week off?

wow what are you studying? rocket science? :crazyeye:

im taking a week off from school and turning off the cellphone.. hell, maybe ill even take a week off from the gym too :D

if its as good as im dreaming of it to be, ill take another week off :D

No, I'm in highschool (freshmen) and will likley have a ton of homework, but will try to play some on Wensday.

I am!!!, but I'm not sure I count because I have 1. No Job, 2. Not in any kind of education programme, 3. Not in any mandatory government programme, i.e do something for benefits, so.... Do I count, because I already am in "permanent vacation"

Maybe you could convince your history teacher that when you are playing Civ V, you are actually studying... :D

You retired? or did you just strike it big at some point?

I booked 5 weeks off starting the 24th September long before I knew the release date. Should be able to get plenty of Civving in over that time. :)

My girlfriend has a dissertation to write, so she's busy. The trick is avoiding my own thesis and hoping the professor I grade for doesn't have the students doing any big projects that week, but I get every Monday, Wednesday and Friday off. God willing, that's enough.

A bit off topic but: why is the release date different between USA and Europe ?

I plan on telling all my friends I will be doing crack under a bridge somewhere for a couple weeks. I'll try to text them once a week. I am going to stock up on MRE's and water, have a generator on backup. I am staying extra careful not to get sick or worse killed.

I'm strongly considering it. I have a week of vacation time left, planned on saving it for christmas. However, one week off on release would be the best for all parts.. I probably won't be able to concentrate on work for a while after release anyway.

I think I might take the release weekend off, but I can't afford to ditch any school to play. Might happen unintentionally though, seeing as how it's very easy to stay up WAY too late while playing CiV lol.

How old are all of you who are going to ditch school to play?

Seems like you are too addicted to the game to sacrifice education to play it.

I just booked holiday from 24th of September to the 1st of October, so that will give me 10 full days of playing time from the night of release (which is the midnight on 24 here in Europe).

This is one good thing of Steam; once the game is release is straight installed in your machine, so I will waste no time:)

I have 19 days holiday left to take this year. I reckon i'll need a couple of weeks at Xmas and a day or two for the Oktoberfest but that still leaves a week I could take and give over to Civ 5.

How does one explain that to The Wife?

Why fake it? Just have somebody drop something heavy on your leg... as long as you have someplace to prop it up while you are on your computer, it is the perfect excuse for spending all of your "healing" time playing Civ V. "I just had to do something to keep from losing my mind. The only other option was sitting in front of the TV and watching soap operas all day!"

Note: This is just a JOKE!!! I am NOT responsible for any injuries or deaths that may occur from someone reading this post! Again, this is ONLY a JOKE!

Strangely enough, my brother is a physiotherapist who investigates workplace injuries. Of course, he's looking for insurance fraud, not time off to CIV :goodjob:

I unfortunately have to go interstate the morning it's released (before the store opens :( ) and don't get back until sunday night after its shut for the day :(
