Metroid Prime Hunters has it.

If you quit a deathmatch then your online player ranking goes down, making it much harder to find a game.

Quitters should be recognized as quitters. In Warlords, you should have an online gamer score. It should start off as a newbie (so people can tell) and then change either to a GOOD player (by good I don't mean skills, but dedication to games), or as a quitter. Obviously dropping out of games shouldn't be as big of a deal for newbies.

Thoughts?

Honestly, I wish this wasn't necessary but I feel as if it is.

Perhaps the ability to have shorter games would be good too, to stop the urge to quit after a short while.

I agree 100% with the sentiments in original post.

What about people who are kicked off because their network went down or a power outage?

One or two quits shouldn't mark you as a quitter. Only repeated offences should get you a bad rating.

If your PC crashes often enough or your network dies frequently enough for it to be a problem, you shouldn't be playing online where your dodgy PC can spoil EVERYONE else's game.

Completely agreed.

The 'Quitter' wouldn't be a moral judgement, just an announcement to other players that this person is likely to quit. Plus with AIs taking over, this can be not As much of a problem.

Or you could just join the Civ4Players Ladder at http://www.myleague.com/civ4players/ ...

It has a ranking system, it is easy to tell if people are quitters (or non-reporters), and if anyone becomes an annoying repeat problem, the Administrators can ban them from playing Ladder games for a while or even ban their accounts. I have found Ladder games to be much more enjoyable than the pick up games you usually find in the lobby.

It could be a system like ESEA implements for Counter-Strike. They have a karma system which awards players 1 point for playing through the end of a game. However, if a player leaves halfway through, they receive -1 points. So it's rather easy to tell which players are commited and which aren't.

Could a moderator please move this to the Ideas forum? Otherwise it will sink faster than a modern English sub.
