Something wrong with Mcnulty's postcount?

Yes, it's high time that the RPG exclusion be ended. I've received no less than 6 requests from RPG regulars who ask that this be lifted. They are siting things like the OT forum and entire threads of one liner garbage. I was just directed to the Babe thread there and if any of those posts are counting then it is amazingly unfair to the RPG folk to be targetted for post exclusion.

I understand that there are some people concerned about my having a high post count. I don't bloody care about it. Reduce my count to 300 and I'll be just as happy as I am now. The only thing that post counts mean to me is a custom avatar. However, they do matter to a number of people that are being targetted now and this whole thing aparently started because other people were angry at losing "post leader" status.

It's time to grow up. Either count posts or don't. Allow short posts or don't. Arbitrary stifling is not an adult response.

I would prefer that if the RPG posts do count.... mainly just to show off, but other than that... I don't really care... As long as I have my 300 posts it won't bother me much.

But I do think the RPG has been wrongly singled out. Most posts there tend to be long story threads now.

Personally, I think any forums not directly related to Civilization shouldn't count toward the post total, but I don't think many would go along with that. So, I'm concuring with the current majority and saying that RPG posts should count if posts in other forums here do too. I don't see the need to single out a specific forum for not counting toward the total, unless you exclude all non-Civilization forums.

Shaitan, to answer your earlier question, all posts in Off-Topic threads count toward the post count, regardless of how pointless the thread might be. :)

Indeed. I can spend a half an hour or longer on writing a single post, there.

I just noticed this...if I spent 1/2 hour anywhere writing up a post, it would take people that long to read it! :) I type too fast for my own good.

Maybe the best solution is to just get rid of the post count, at least keep it from view. Maybe just enable a person to see it in their profile (and hidden from others), so they can see if they can get an Avatar or not. Then, all the complaining and threads like this can go away and we all can get back to more useful topics.

It's not so much the number of words, but the "quality" that I'm searching for. ;)

Like in my "Knighting of Shabbaman", or in the testimony I've given in the current "Trial of Disorganizer"

When I write out something like one of those...it seems to flow naturally and I can whip up a page of writing in 5-10 minutes.

But yes, that certainly is quality writing, and I could see why it would take more time to write than normal.

Thanks, Procifica. :)

Yes, I can whip out the first draft in 10 minutes or less (usually), but then I go back and "wordsmith" it: tweaking a phrase here, moving a line there. And since I do most of it during breaks at work, the total time quickly adds up to half an hor or more in some cases.

Discussion on the post count for the RPG can move to this thread. Currently it is going on in several locations and is confusing as heck. The thread linked to here also has a poll to see what the general thoughts are about restoring the post count to the RPG.
