Sons of Mars IV

From: New America
To: World

We claim the remaining parts of South America. Any incursions are highly discouraged.

Nice is happy to respect the wishes of new America in this regard, and hopes they will show similar respect to our expansion in Africa.

We hope to organise a diplomatic solution to the territory clash with Nice: we ensure that the Red Sea is a place we wish to have presence in for our economic purposes and that we can come to a honourable agreement.

Nice is willing to pay 6 EP to Japan in exchange for their relinquishing their claims to the disputed territories. We also wish to ensure a peaceful solution to this dispute, particularly in light of the results of certain other territorial disputes currently under way.

Japan, please stay out of Africa.

Good day.

Are you a African power? No? Then why are you telling us to stay out of Africa?

Anyway: we need to have Africa accessible for future expansion and there is plenty of room in Africa for many powers.

The army that will be annihilated before it can approach mine, because you have not invested in artillery and an air force properly?

Your troops won't do too well with the homeland being strangled. Your carriers will be sunk on the first day.

Anyways, Mongola hereby declares war on Japan and calls our allies of the Confederate States of America and the Empire of Light to the battle.

The Empire of Light? What is in their interest to go to war against Japan?

As for the CSA: they are in defence yes? Hence war would mean they up in battle against New England..

We activated our call to arms to Australia and New England, as well as call other powers to consider coming to Japan's defence to help punish warmongering like that practiced by Mongolia.

Remember Japan's industries and how wonderful a trade partner we can be, in contrast to the war centred economy of Mongolia. We must hence force out the invaders.

We do however plead Mongolia sees reason and ceases its foolish invasion: it will be Mongolia that will pay if war continues.

While we understand we feel that the value of the Red Sea provinces are too grand for just 6 EP. Anyway with Mongolia going war on us we are going to find it difficult now to give up potential territory for a emergency HQ in case of a worse case scenario. If Mongolia was "convinced" to stop their invasion of the Japanese Empire then we might be able to consider selling. Help us military and we will consider a donation of said territories and a promise to keep out of North Africa and the Middle East.

We already gave you our terms.

We already gave you our terms.

Terms which are themselves will not be able to enforce to your benefit: our economic power has the potential to recruit a emergency forces (OOC: granted it will take a year but the potential of my allies...) while our friends can combine their forces with us to overwhelm you in a year's time: note the economic power of New England.

Before making vulgar childish threats please consider the economic powers involved or you may shoot yourself by going to war against Japan.

In the end we will come out the stronger.

Japan end this foolishness before the Empire of Light obliterates those industries you are apparently so proud of. You know, with those 7 carriers that we actually have an air force to utilize with.

In case it wasn't clear, this is our official notice we are responding to Mongola's call to arms. Although we have no real special relationship with Mongola, we have this alliance precisely for this purpose; to check Japanese aggression.

We ask that New England and Aidanu stay out of this. Japan is merely getting what they deserve through all their threats and bluster and aggression over the years. A lack of response including a declaration of neutrality will be seen as an act of aggression, and regrettably whether it be the case or not, the Empire of Light shall assume hostilities have commenced.

In any case, if you want evidence of why we join on Mongola's side, and precisely why we DO have a stake in this contrary to Japan's misguided statements speaking for us without being informed, then please see their responser to Nice. They fail to see that 6 EP is a bargain in this scenario given they are at war with two major powers that both outmatch Japan on their own, yet they still refuse to back down from a position in Africa; a continent they have no right to expand into I might add.

Perhaps Japan should re-evaluate its foreign affairs in the short time it has left to exist as a sovereign state.

Economic Advantage of Japan/Aidanu/New England over Mongola/Empire of Light/CSA: About 80 EP

Military Advantage of Mongola/Empire of Light/CSA over Japan/Aidanu/New England: About 80 units

The Nice Federation offers to sign a free trade agreement on the trade for all ingredients of popcorn with New America.

As the Empire of light has correctly noted, the current offer is an amazing bargain. The Nice Federation fails to see any reason why Japan's war in far-off Asia should reduce their willingness to sell these territories in Africa: they are not only far from the area of conflict, but also currently making no contribution to the war, whereas the profits from selling them could be used to fund the creation of multiple new military units. Their potential as HQ locations is also minimal, due in large part to the political instability Japan's attempted invasion has produced. And, after all, Japan has other territory far more suitable for the creation of command infrastructure just down the coast, of which it can currently claim uncontested control.

From: New America
To: Mongolian Alliance

As we see that our allies New England is entering the war and we see the aggression on the fault of your alliance, we officially Declare War. Redacted, we will stay Neutral.

Thank God I streamlined the combat system. We've got a world war on our hands now.

I think only DT is neutral...

As we see that our allies New England is entering the war and we see the aggression on the fault of your alliance, we officially Declare War.

This is wrong on so many levels.

First of all, Japan is the aggressor in the situation, if not the war. Mongola and Japan have battled back and forth since before New America existed (this issue has gone on since even before you joined the game so you can't know the full extent, and that is understandable). Japan has refused to be reasonable, and has essentially declared all of china is to be theirs, at the same time as infringing on others' spheres such as South America and Africa.

Secondly, New England has not stated they are entering the war (they may have declared it on chat while I wasn't there, but all they have posted in the thread is that video above us).

Thirdly, New England would hypothetically be joining the war through a defensive alliance with Japan. Cascading alliances are stupid, and are usually not used in IOTs in my experience, or are at least frowned upon. So if you join this war, you do so as an aggressor.

I ask that you let us settle our differences. The Empire of Light has no quarrel with New America that we know of until and unless you declare war on us.

OOC: Fixed for ya. I didint state anything in regards to the Japan-Mongolian spat nor have I made any in character about it. Even my previous post after the update was OOC (and it even had OOC tags on it).

Secondly, New England has not stated they are entering the war (they may have declared it on chat while I wasn't there, but all they have posted in the thread is that video above us).
OOC: I never visit the IOT chat. Again, I remind you that the video I posted is made OOC.

OOC: Given the speculation that's brewing, I figure I may as well make an official in-character statement on the whole ordeal.
IC: Given the situation at hand with a cascading alliances that is bound to happen given the spats that have been bouncing back and forth between Mongolia and Japan (and bringing in our neighbors that would threaten our own borders). Plus given the fact that our troop numbers are insufficient for any sort of war. The New England Republic would like to make it clear that It will remain neutral in the conflict and not involve itself in the conflict that is happening across the Pacific.

Sorry, I misunderstood that alliances are not binding, thank you for clearing it up with me. Consider my declaration of war redacted.

First Flight of Trijet
Seattle, Washington

For the first time, since the 1960s and the Cataclysm. The Boeing Airplane Company has rolled out it's 727 trijet after engineers ruffled through diagrams and schematics of the jet. The Boeing company has planed the maden flight for the 727 sometime later in the month. President Otis of Eastern Airlines have already placed orders for a few 727s for use in their domestic routes.

Republic Sets Up Defense Contractor
Hartford

With war clouds looming in the Pacific. The Government of New England has courted Boeing, Douglas, Lockheed, and General Dynamics to construct warplanes, ships, tanks, and artillery pieces for the Armed Forces of New England on top with an active military recruiting campaign.

Sub Launches first cruise missile
USS Albany, Long Island Sound

The submarine, USS Albany, has undergone naval experiments with launching cruise missiles from submarines in a joint efforts between General Dynamics and the New England Navy. The sub launched a cruise mission on the surface of the sound by launching a dummy missile. Both the Navy and the defense contractor are expected to undergo more experiments and trials with the Albany to develop a Nuclear Powered, Guided Missile Submarine.

On light of how people seem to treat alliances like nothing then I will give a warning: first they come for Japan and you did not speak out because you were not of Japan. Then they will come for Australia, which you will not come to because your not Australian. Then they will come for New England and you do not respond because your not New English.

Then they come for you and no one will come to help you.

Since we have the disadvantage of unreliable figures who forgotten that keep to a alliance is needed as a means of diplomatic honour then we will not honour them in turn. I give my blessing to the CSA and hence declare Japan will offer itself as a vassal of the CSA as a punishment to Japan's "allies" on condition that Japan true ally, Australia, is guaranteed its independence and peace.

If Mongolia and the Empire of Light objects I remind them that the CSA is their ally and that we feel the CSA is more worthy of having Japan.

Long live Japan!

OOC: I am considering quitting this game due to my second uni year starting (I need to cut down a bit on IOTs I am in) and due to the... strategic error I made in both not getting some stone tablets for the alliances to be signed into and for underestimating Mongolia's military build up and overestimate the commitment to alliance of nations like New England. What ever the case if I do quit the CSA will get all industry, territory and military of Japan.

The downside for the CSA is a name change to reflect their global status. ;)

What ever the case if I do quit the CSA will get all industry, territory and military of Japan.

OOC: Just dissolve the state. It wouldn't be fair to the rest of us if a dissolved nation dumps all their goods onto one nation. Did any of the dissolved nations due to inactive players got distributed to other nations? No, it just vanished and the territories reverted back to an unclamed "city-state" state. It's not the problem of unreliable figures, it's the fact that we recognize that there's a tactical disadvantage if anyone of us jumps into the fray. Personally, I find it spiteful that you move to do such a thing when I've (and as others have done so) consider the negative outcomes that would come out of it. For instance, Mongolia has called upon the CSA to attack on their side. Knowing that they field a larger military than we do and it would take time to build up a military to counter a potential CSA attack, it's likely they'd be stomping on our borders. It's a chance that I can't take.

Trollquitting. Classy.

A complete annexation won't occur, I can say that much.

Exactly what will happen to be determined at lock based on received orders.

When exactly is lock again? Sorry.
