Sons of Mars (Redux)

Imperial Decree of His Majesty

Emperor Jingzong

Long Live, His Imperial Majesty, long live! Long Live, His Imperial Majesty, long live! Long Live, His Imperial Majesty, long live! Long live, long live, long live!

The Son of Heaven and Emperor of the Great Song Dynasty, Jingzong, thus proclaims:

The Grand Commander Yuan Chonghuan is hereby ordered to expand the borders of the Great Song Empire to the East by forcing Bandit Kings in Eastern China to submission to the rule of the Son of Heaven. In order to complete this task, the Grand Commander is to be given 120,000 soldiers of Imperial Song Army. He has to complete this task withing seven months.

The Crown Prince Wang is ordered to expanded the Northern frontiers of the Great Song Empire by destroying rebels and brigands. For this task, he is given 60,000 troops of the Imperial Song Army. He has to complete this task withing three months. After pacifying the area, he is ordered to govern the Northern Borders by himself.

Long Live, His Imperial Majesty, long live! Long Live, His Imperial Majesty, long live! Long Live, His Imperial Majesty, long live! Long live, long live, long live!

We are disappointed that Hesse and Burgundy have seen fit to aggressively, despite no declaration of war from the Papacy or its clients being submitted thus far against the Palatinate or any protestant power, declare war on us. Needless to say we shall defend ourselves and our clients from this aggression in the appropriate manner.

Hesse and Burgundy have heard the Papacy's statement that it would declare war on the Palatinate if it declared war on Prussia. This is merely preemptive as any Papal declaration against the Palatine forces was inevitable. We furthermore cannot see the Palatinate defeated, lest we be a target of Catholic expansion.

France declares war on Burgundy, Hesse, and the Palatinate.

Hanover, Saxony, and Schleswig-Holstein have no intention of direct involvement in this war, but cannot help but feel Prussia seeks domination of the German peoples. All three henceforth embargo Prussia.

To: Hesse and the Palatinate
From: The Papal States

Noting that Hesse is a client of the Palatinate, and thus bound to it in its foreign policy. We can only conclude that its declaration of war on us was conducted with the full knowledge and agreement of the Palatinate, henceforth constituting a declaration of war via its clients on the papacy by the same palatinate.

This notwithstanding, we retain our willingness to entertain dialogue with the Palatinate, for we do not lust for blood as do you who have brought Europe to the brink of general war. However should war manifest between the Palatinate and Prussia, that way will be shut and the consequences will have to be decided upon the field of battle. Pending this, we shall endeavour to come to the defence of our allies and clients who are directly threatened by the aggression of the Palatine League.

ooc: It is a war of the true religion against false religion.

Locking Asian and American orders, though leaving European and African orders open pending a response from the Palatinate on the subject of talks to avoid war over Brandenburg.

ooc: dialogue has already occurred on chat, my notice of willingness to entertain more of it is basically me referring to something I said to Robert Cant about how if he pulls back from intervening in Brandenburg there needn't be a war (since him and his allies not intervening on the side of Brandenburg nullifies my obligation). Ergo, I am not opening the door for a completely open session dialogue here, I'm merely pointing out that the terms I mentioned in a previous discussion still apply.

Oh, okay then. Absolute lock in effect. :p

South America

The Mali Empire has suffered a disastrous famine that has claimed the lives of over a fifth of its population. The Empire’s borders have shrunken enormously as a result of its decreased economic and military power. The nation’s glory has also been stung, with Songhai having acquired the disputed Guyanese coast.

Europe

The Roman Emperor and his court have been assassinated by foreigners, leading to complete anarchy across the countryside. The only areas of order are in the north, where Serbian and Bulgarian forces have occupied coastal strips of territory. While the Venetians and Aragonese have clear interest in the region, they are currently occupied with a war in Iberia.

Widespread inefficiency has led to disillusionment with the Dauphinois Church. This has been coupled with bureaucratic difficulties on the part of the Dauphine government. Most citizens have privately switched to Roman Catholicism or Calvinism in the West, while the East sees a blend of Lutheran and Orthodox thoughts. Savoy has embraced Catholicism, while Switzerland now embraces the Calvinism of the majority; Hungary has gone the other way entirely and has chosen Lutheranism (despite being a slight minority) as the state faith.

The House of Estevan has fallen into chaos as a result of insolvency. While there is discussion of selling their territory to the King of France, such talks are currently clouded by no shortage of drama. Regardless, the days of the House as a Great Power are over, with its overseas territory having been swallowed up by one power or another.

Pacific

The Church of Lepuism has lost all bureaucratic effectiveness, leading to so many diverging beliefs that it can hardly be considered a united organization anymore. The State of Oz survives, but has had to concede most of its territory beyond the mainland.

Oh, okay then. Absolute lock in effect. :p
Oh crap!!!! I've been soo busy this past week trying to get a better job on top of having a lack of energy that this blew past my mind.

In the future, could you please leave a timer (or at least a date) for when the lock is going to happen?

there was a timer. 48 hours when the new turn starts.

Oh.

That thing nobody in IOT uses because it is unwieldly and because 24/48/72 hour countdowns are typically flexible.

The Kingdom of Sicily is finally announcing its Christian Credit system. Christians, namely those not in conflict with the proper Roman Catholic Church, or even heretics who find themselves in conflict with the heathen (except Cyprus, which is a traitor to Christ)may privately message the state-ran Bank of Sicily to see if they are eligible for one of Sicily's credit accounts, which determine the amount that can be bothered at once as well as the interest rate.

Countries with higher revenue streams will have access to more credit, but higher interest rates.

We are also selling short term (as in, repaid the turn after sold) 10g bonds which will yield 11g. In other words, ten percent interest and paid back the next turn. You can buy in bulk.

A border dispute has emerged between Ireland and Arawak over the northernmost point of Chesapeake Bay.

Arawak has also invaded Creek and Caracol; reports to follow.

does anyone else keep reading that as Marowak

==Kalingo Wars==

Seeking to place likeminded believers under a similar government, Arawak has invaded Kalingo Creek and pagan Belize.

Creek: 5 armies attack 5 regulars and 1 conscript.
-1 Arawak Army, -2 Creek armies. Arawak seizes 1 province.

Caracol: 12 armies attack 3 regulars and 2 conscripts.
Overrun victory. -1 Army for Arawak, -3 for Caracol. Arawak seizes 4 provinces.

==The Reconquista==

The Catholic League has launched a massive invasion of Granada. Due to a lack of military spending on the part of Granada, the country is an easy target.

The Granada fleet is completely destroyed, being outnumbered twenty-seven to one.

The Papacy lands 5 armies, Venice lands 3, and Sicily lands 6, while Aragon and Castile charge from the north with a total of 6 armies each.

20 provinces are seized by the Catholic League, and the territories carved up between them. Granada loses 2 of its armies, while the Aragonese lose 1.

==The Germanic War==

What began as a mere invasion of Brandenburg by Prussia has cascaded into a conflict that has engulfed much of Europe. Ireland, Austria, France, Bavaria, the Papal States and Prussia are now at war with the Palatinate, Brandenburg, Burgundy, and Hesse. Alexandria-Jerusalem, while yet to commit forces, has similarly thrown its weight behind the Papacy.

In the British Isles, the Palatinate sends 20 regulars against 21 Irish regulars.

5 Irish forces are killed or captured, while the Irish eliminate 4 Palatine units. Combined with some small pro-English riots across the countryside, however, the Irish cannot control their whole territory, and lose 4 provinces.

…

In Germany, the Palatinate sends 5 regulars to the Brandenburg front. They team up with 2 Brandenburger regulars and 4 conscripts. Prussia has invaded with a massive 20 regulars.

Prussia seizes 4 provinces. Brandenburg loses 3 armies, the Palatinate loses 1, and Prussia loses 2.

…

Back along the Rhine, the Papal military arrives with 10 regulars and strikes at both Hesse and the Palatinate. 20 Palatine conscripts, 2 Hessian Regulars, and 4 Hessian Conscripts await them.

The campaign is a failure, with the Papal States failing to capture any territory. 4 Papal divisions are decimated, while the Hessians lose 1 division. Reports state it is a good thing the men in the Palatine forces were mostly conscripts, or the Papal outpost surely would have been at risk at being captured. Neither side can really claim victory, however, as the Catholic League has many more forces to replace what has been lost.

ooc: It appears you did not regard any forces sent by Bosnia, Bavaria and Austria in the campaign in southern Germany (Hesse/Palatinate) tani? I presume this is an error since the involvement of these powers was requested, and they are all bound by clientage or alliance to the Papal States.
