Sons of Monarchy Bullpen

Thanks for getting this up klono. I managed to get my computer looked at, so I will be able to get the next round up. Got something planned already, so look for it around, oh I don't know, December 21st :mischief:

No problem, if u need help again just give me a shout. Glad you got the PC running good again.

Do you have to have version 3.19 to play this, I have 3.17 and I'm having a problem getting patch 3.19 to install.

SoM XV: Sitting Bull (PHI/PRO) of Native America is now up!

This round was delayed and delayed by RL and computer issues, but seems like both have returned to normal, so there shouldn't be a two month (yikes) break in between rounds this time.

If anyone has an idea for the next round (Napoleon is on the board, but could be switched up with Hammurabi), feel free to contribute here or via PM

I put an idea to Giant Wolfman about a barb-busting map. It's a key part of the early game once a player hits Monarch and starts meeting Barb Archers but the mechanics isn't very well understood. Anybody got any thoughts on this?

What's your idea? I agree that monarch is where barbs really start to become a nuisance. I think emperor barbs are actually harder than immortal, only because the AI expands so quickly that the barbs don't have much of a window.

If you want lots of barbs then maybe play big and small, low sea level. Player starts on big continent, the AIs start on small continent and islands. You shouldn't be isolated but you will need boats to meet the AIs.Raging barbs is an option but I read somewhere that barb behaviour is different to standard settings.

Well, I watched a Youtube game a little while back that discussed how Barb-spawning and Barb city-settling mechanics work (they don't spawn within 2 squares of a unit and don't settle within 1 square of a unit, iirc) and it just struck me that it's something that is a key part of learning the game at higher levels but not often discussed. Generally people just say that they got choked off by barbs and rage-quit.

I originally suggested to Giant Wolfman a raging barb map with either Darius or Sitting Bull (this was before he posted the Sitting Bull SOM game but he'd already made the map a while back). He said he was cycling through the traits and wanted to get an Organised Leader up so came back with Hammy as an option.

@Pigswill - how does Barb behaviour differ between normal Barbs and raging Barbs?

Oomph yeahh...
I was intending to get back to a regular schedule after Sitting Bull, until work sent me out of town sans my CIV computer for two weeks, after which I moved, at which point didn't have internet for a month because the new ISP were idiots and couldn't figure out how to hook my place up...bit of a pain. But I do have both my CIV comp and internet to upload now so I'll push out Napoleon this weekend

TLDR: NAPOLEON Monday at the latest

Keshik Fun!! Requests about map's AI leaders:
Spoiler :
It would be fun if you'd choose civilizations that fits with mongolian history. My suggestions are: Horezmia (Arabia), Russia, Goryo (Korea), Jin Empire (China), Song Empire (China) and Japan.
Sounds fun? I could help you to do it if you're interested.
