Here's some maps I made of the state, stating possibilities of other states we may carve out of it. I'm not sure which one I support yet, but I definantly do not want California to leave the Union, though i'd most likely to vote for the "East/West Split" or the "Bay Area as her own state Split".

note that on the 3-Way Split and the North/South split the borders may move around a little(that's why the borders between the two possible states are different, so that i can showtwo different ideas for those state's borders).

How about California splits off from the country...literally.

They will. Just wait a few million years, then we'll be rid of ya.

I'd rather split it up into :North, East, and South. (Splitting the bay area between them and therefore diminishing it's power)

Noncontention breeds corruption! I voted none of the above. Your solutions result in one-party states.

Want to see how well that works? Go to Mississippi!

yeah. split north/south. we'll let you northern tree huggers tend to the forests and be in your lala land, suffocating your economy with taxes and enablement programs. meanwhile us southerners will continue forging an economic powerhouse that will see massive growth following such a split.

Another one of those "this happens and I'm going to Canada" ideas. Why would you be in support of this, sims? Are you aware of the effect it would have on Presidential politics in the US?

And we can see how well California's current system works...

:p

Might want to resize that sig Sluke ;)

Ah, the old North-South vendetta rises again...

Let me put it succinctly: let's stick to our own best interests. We can keep on creating thousands of dot-flops, and you guys can get back to deluging the world in crappy movies and grunge hairstyles...

I chose the East/West Split only because it makes more sense politically, since us people from the liberal North/coast won't have the conservative San Diego/inland South forcing us into unwanted bills, and visa-versa. I know that some of the border counties(Yuba, ect.) are ultra-conservative, but there aren't much people in those places.

EDIT: Yuba actually isn't on the border, but everything else about it that I said in this post is true.

if LA wasn't liberal then i'd support the North/South split.

Well, that's a bit selfish.

California having 55 electoral votes and the Democratic counties of California being able to outnumber the Republican counties on election day is a big part of why the Democrats are still competitive (sort of, I use the word weakly) on a national scale.

Split those votes up and you've got a GOP lock on the Presidency due to them taking a good 1/3 or so of that 55. Not that it's not going to happen otherwise, but it's gonna make it a lot easier.

Where exactly is Yuba, I can't seem to find it.

How about making each county its own state?

*EDIT*

Wait a sec, that would be one helluva friggin' nightmare, in terms of the Congressional delegations alone. California, instead of 2 Senators, would have 116 (58 counties, right?). That's more than the rest of the friggin' Union put together.

I say the USA should be divided into 290,342,554 political divisions, each representing the party of the person residing in it.

:p

Yuba is this county in the middle of the northern part(it's in green on the map) that voted for the recall of Davis in a ration of 4:1. i went fishing there once with my dad and it sucked! i caught no fish and my dad caught one, a bottom sucker, since it just happened to pass over his hook and get it's suction cup caught on it:).

...while suffocating your populace with vast clouds of polution that will eventually eat away their skin with acid rain.

for one thing, some counties have almost no people, while others have a lot(like Los Angeles and San Diego as well as all the other Bay Area counties excluding Napa). plus, how'd we fit that many stars on the flag? :p also, then the states in what used to be California would have half the Senate.

It doesn't boarder Nevada, it is right next to the three fat and short counties that border Nevada.

Better yet, just give California to us. We half run it anyway. :D
