Who really cares what anything is called? Who cares if I call a, say, "weasel" a "blender"? Who cares if I call a "calligraphy pen" an "electoral college"? Because words are what we use to call things. If no one agreed that we call certain things certain names and other certain things other certain names, it would be chaos. CHAOS, I tell you!

I have always called it a Splade. I don't know why, but that's what I've been taught by my parents and my German teacher agrees so it can't be a totally unheard-of term.
