Spring Patch Info

it's likely to result in less deserts, not more.

Exactly. The age of the dinosaurs (the last time we had very high CO2 levels) wasn't all desert, there was massive plant life to sustain such great beasts. As already mentioned, things like tundra squares should go away and there should be more rainforest squares as well as more desert squares (it is clear our deserts are expanding, though deforestation is also playing a large part in this)

ACT is a right wing party

Do they know they share a name with American mouthwash? I thought it was a reference to the mouthwash.

Still climate change in Civ 6 would be very interesting to try out though

And I still say they should do more futuristic stuff in Civ like in CTP games. Just not silly stuff like Giant Death Robot and Xcom squad. Actually put some thought into it.

Its Tuesday, are we going to see a patch today, Thursday, or next week?

Back on topic of course. I wouldn't mind if my bombers flew a little faster. I'm still not ready to do quick combat (no animations), because I like the jet bomber animation, I just wish he flew a little faster. Anyone else still run with combat animations on?

I remember that in Civ V there was a mod that made for some slightly quicker airplane animations that made it fun to watch air combat. As for actual combat animations, I have quick combat on until the modern era or so, when I start getting airplanes and nukes. I like to watch those animations.

Like how a city be loyal toward other civs just because they have religion? There is only a limited amount of religions so this is somehow easy to be abused by the AI.

What I presume they are intending from their announcement - and clearly I could be wrong - is that the Loyalty pressure from nearby cities is influenced by whether those cities share the same religion or a different religion.

Your cities take on a religious affiliation regardless of whether you founded a religion or not. Also, you can spread a religion / suppress another religion regardless of whether you founded that religion or not. So this mechanism could work regardless of whether you found a religion or not.

The idea would be that if your border city shares the same religion with neighbouring foreign cities, and this is a different religion than is followed by your nearby cities, then that border city will be more strongly influenced by those foreign cities than it would otherwise be.

Again, this is speculation on my part, but it's how I would do it and it's what I understood their intentions to be. I'd also like to see a similar impact based on who originally founded the city (i.e. some historical memory of the ethnicity of the population inside the city).

Yeah... a global warming mechanic should have the effort of maybe turning your deserts into jungles, your tundra into plains... and your coastal land tiles into coastal water tiles!

That would sure shake up the end game!

They haven't updated a qa build in a whole week again. So, I have no idea. Maybe they are ready. Maybe they sent it back to alpha for more fine-tuning. I give up!

If eagle pursuit has no clue then we are without a guide
Actually we still know it will be out in spring 2018. But which one, spring of northern hemisphere or southern hemisphere? :crazyeye:

Since they are still working on the patch and it is not released yet, I am kinda hoping that the patch will have more goodies than what we know about in the preview video a couple weeks back.

I expect it would for two reasons: (1) it was mentioned in the early posts in this thread that what we know so far is just the highlights of this patch and (2) I presume that the extra time has allowed them to squash some more bugs and add some more (minor) goodies for us.

Summer is understood to be the three warmest months. On the American East Coast and in Europe, the three warmest months are June, July and August, and hence its meteorological definition, set by the traditional authorities, is starting from June 1 (in the northern hemisphere). Of course, those regions are no longer as dominant, and on the American West Coast, and in some parts of Asia, September is warmer than June.

I'd love them to give us the ability to use SQL to update the artdef data in one of the future patches.

Aircraft speed is part of those, my civ5 mod was just one line of SQL code, and it was easy to keep it compatible with mods adding more air units.

For civ6 it would require to Copy/Paste hundreds of lines of code in artdef files, and compatibility would be hard to maintain (basically one compatibility mod for each mod adding new units, it's the same problem for R.E.D. in civ6 compared to civ5)

What, they don't??? Jesus...! No wonder why I couldn't find the correct sql syntax as in civ 5... as you said, I had some 3-4 lines to add superfast (and customizable) animations to civ 5, all units.

Wasn't "moddability" one of their marketed pluses?

I'll admit, I have no clue what you just said as I don't know anything about modding or programming or code. But I do appreciate the work you've put into modding and I can't thank you enough for that quicker airplane animation in Civ V. It made all the difference!

Yet for a long time that was an issue. It is the reason that England/the UK eventually banned Catholics from the line of succession. It is one of the reasons that the U.S. has separation of church and State.

ACT is a liberal party in NZ, and are skeptical about the excessive claims of climate alarmists.

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!

Nah, best left out given the current hysteria, unless they did something that had changes throughout the entire game. I would like to see seasons added cosmetically like the day/night cycle :) That'd look cool.

Then we could get deciduous forests, finally!!

I'll be 30 days sober on Thursday.
Maybe Firaxis / 2K will reward me with the patch????

Just kidding. (about wanting a reward)

Well, congratulations on your sobriety streak. I hope you keep it going!
