We are geting some WW - I'm not sure if its from IBM or Apple, I think Apple since they have been far more active pillaging about 4 tiles per turn.
We may even still be getting WH from IBM, although I think that unlikely.

Pre-Flight

Feeling a bit out of the loop having not played for so long, but with Conquest our desired goal there isn't much loop to get out of anymore.
Don't understand what you are talking about WW and WH from IBM for when we are at peace with them.
We are only at war with Apple. I do my check of the cities first and do a little MM, very little. Everything is in terrific shape Andronicus :would put smiley but over pic limit:
Few small changes: Blogger, our transport builder in the south, has a factory rushed, also set a few non 2-turn tank factories to arty. Bombers won't be much good in MacWorld, what with all those jets.
Then sign in IBM against apple for furs, as they are already commie we don't really need to worry so much about giving them luxs.
Start pulling our many tanks out of Yahooland to send toward MacWorld. Also pick up our arty, but leave 6 behind to deal with ships
Start plotting my invasion of MacWorld... crap they have a lot of jet fighters!
Sink an Apple battleship south of New Googleplex after redlining with arty. (1-0)

IBT - our destroyer stack off the coast of IBM watches as an apple destroyer sails past... i then laugh evily as we get this message.

Our interceptors shoot down 2 apple bombers

Turn 1 - start prepping an invasion force. I am shattered to find that to get our Yahoo forces (well the transports neway) over to MacWorld will take 11 turns to reach my target location. Bugger. We have several transports that can be there sooner. They will carry the initial forces, the Yahoo boys will be the cavalry (figure of speech, cavalry are a bit outdated by now) Not sure what the plan for our stack of destroyers is so I decide to assign them the vital mission to take out Mac oil.
Trim science and still hav synth fibres in 2.

IBT - shoot down 2 more bombers, lose an oil source.

Turn 2 - trim science to 60% (synth fib still in 1), sink an apple battleship and transport (3-0). With synth fib in 1 I don't see the point in loading up tanks so i start loading the arty, infantry and (1)settler transports instead.

IBT - synth fibres comes in, set to computers (7 turns at 90%) (couldn't find reference to what we wanted) as the mech infantry will be useful and the research labs will help us stay 1 step ahead.

Turn 3 - 20gp per tank upgrade so I upgrade all the non-elite tanks I can. 35 immediately, with more to be done next turn (they had to disembark from their boats).

IBT - shoot down to more bombers but get hit twic

Turn 4 - due to increasing unit costs we have to cut science by 10 to pay them and maintain a positive cash flow. Our Modern Armour are goign to put a whole lot of hurt on Apple. I have a battle plan now. Its a little riskier than I would do in a SP game.
And as Andronicus knows from Tupac03, that just means that I won't have about twice as many units as we can possibly use. I haven't got to play with Modern Armour since my Chieftan days and I don't want to miss the chance.
All things considered I've probably still overbooked tickets for artillery.

IBT - Sun and IBM sign an MPP, we shoot down another bomber, but get hit twice by bombers. We lose an ironclad to a sub (wow, I've never played a game that lasted till subs before!) but then another ironclad kills a sub (4-1).

Turn 5 - unload our twin assault forces, and our fortifying party in MacWorld, also upgrade another 17 tanks (including two leader-generating tanks) to Modern Armour. Lets go a killin! Our destroyer party nears their goal (the apple oil) and find an IBM assault team (destroyer + transport +watever is in transport) heading for hte same place! Allies working together, its enough to bring a tear to your eye.

IBT - an interturn of attrition. We lose an ironclad to a redlined battleship (do no damage) then an exposed transport (empty) kills a battleship but is redlined, then a sub kills our transport. Our assault forces meet early opposition and we lose a Modern Armour to a tank but kill 4 other tanks on the defence (9-4). Oh yeah and a second IBM assault force shows, and it seems Sun has already landed their assault force. Everyone's working together to take out that oil!
Uh we also lose 200-odd gpt and ivory.

Turn 6 - the first task is to remedy the situation with our payments and luxuries. It'll cost us mucho money to get ivory, and we have no techs to trade. Bugger. IBM are the only people we are smarter than so Ecology to IBM for 60gpt, World Map, Territory Map, and Ivory. That everything they could possibly pay. research still ahs to come down to 70%.
Our commando assault team begins, arty kncok down 4 pop points and weaken all defenders and the Modern Armour charge in.
Kill 5 infantry and a tank for the loss of a modern armour. BTW am i the only one who didn't know these babies can attack 3 times in a turn???
Holy dooly. (15-5)
We raze Power Mac, taking down 3 jet fighters with it.

Then found ANZAC Cove (no real relevance but it was the name of our foothold in India in Tupac03 which I handled and also India were the grey india so that my justification :D), our foothold in Mac territory. ATM its a bit isolated due to Mac culture, but we'll deal with it.

To prove that we send the tank army visible in the screenie and 3 Modern Armour south to Mac Plus. A win for the tank army and 2 wins each for the modern armour and Mac Plus is razed. (20-5)

Continuing on our Modern Armour who were north of Power Mac head for iPod.
6 casualty-less victories (26-5) later it too burns.

taking 8 jets, 5 bombers and a battleship with it. A 16-man Modern Armour assault force gets ready to land at iMac next turn. The cavalry are still on their way and we have another two boatloads ready to head for ANZAC next turn. We also figure out where our lost oil source went. It went to Performa. It can be destroyed in 2 turns.
Oh and wait they seem to have acquired a third oil source. Oh my. luckil this one seems to be being targetted by our allies.

Anyway this eventful turn is drawing to a close

Oh and I completely forgot IBM had panzers! I haven't seen them for long, long time!

IBT - We lose 2 exposed MA. (26-7) this comes after watching a massive allied fleet at the south of MacWorld.

Turn 7 - mass riots. Science goes down 10%, lux up 10%. reject the chance to hold UN elections.
We land our 16man force by iMac. Ready to eliminate that oil next turn. Our destroyers take out the southern one and our Modern Armour line up to take on the 3rd source of oil... at Performa.

Performa. Size 27, huge, powerful and defended (according to our spies)by 7 infantry and a tank. We have a 10-armour strong force to try and take this stronghold.

We lose 1 Modern Armour to take the city (34-8) and pop a leader along the way

That disconnects both and oil and a rubber source. Larry Page heads to ANZAC to form an army which will be filled with Mordern Armour.
With the help of Apple slaves a library is built in ANZAC. next step is an airport and then MacWorld will have no chance.
With enough transports now to continually ferry the ladz across i decide to abandon transport builds (i leave 1 on 10-turn production) in favour of more MA. To join our 16 modern armour near iMac comes a force of 13 modern armour and 5 arty to support ANZAC. This is on top of the boys from Yahooland who won't arrive till after my turnset.

IBT - a very interesting one too! First watch Linux lose 2 bombers to interceptors. They must have a carrier nearby. Our newly stationed jet fighters shoot down 3 bombers attempting to hit ANZAC, Then lucky larry kills (while already redlined) 5 tanks on the defence! and he's on plains!
then watch an Apple Army (all tanks) approach and attack ANZAC.

Our infantryman holds out well, redlining the army but in the end it proves to much and he falls. he will be remembered. (39-9)

Turn 8 - Start by bringing Lucky Larry home! That guys IS lucky! He joins the army along with 2 vet modern armour from the new force.
This army then kills the Apple tank army. (40-9)
That army and the other newly arrived Modern Armour head for Mac Mini.
We lose 1 modern armour killing the 5 infantry and the 1 tank defenders (46-10), we capture a cruise missile.

I have never even seen modern armor outside of this site. Apple will die soon!!! MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! :devil:
 
Turn 8 (continued) - land another commando force (6) of Modern Armour on MacWorld's northern coast, then start deploying our forces already there to attack further into Mac territory.

IBT - Thanks to us razing cities holding jets the Linux and IBM bombers wreak havoc on the Apple improvements, also in the south iBook is captured by IBM. Cupertino (apple capital that was to be attacked in 2 more turns) builds Manhattan project...

Also a propoganda campaign in Picassa upsets our citizens there

Turn 9 - Our boys are ready to attack Newton next turn and Cuppertino the turn after. For now they attack Power Book and after killing 4 infantry without loss (57-10) the city is destroyed.

from there the badly damaged MA's head back to ANZAC who worker-rushes a barracks. The others (a decent sized force) head south to Mac Classic.
Lots n lots of worker moves, do some pillaging with ships.

IBT - lots of IBM and linux bombers are now operating freely. An ironclad kills a sub on defence but is redlined (58-10).
Also this piece of espionage I have not seen before.

Turn 10 - Picassa riots. I set it to a colloseum as there are enough saved shields to build it next turn.
We lose 3 MA to 5 infantry at Mac Classic but the city is razed nonetheless (63-13).

Get forces in position to attack Infinite Loop and Cupertino next turn. Lots of worker moves.

Bit late though, still nice to know that even after the losses we've had and the damage we have dealt out that we can still call on such a powerful force in reserve. 'tis a good thought.

the next player should be able to finish off Apple and decide where to from there.
The 3 workers up north are there so we can watch the pretty colours of the foreign ships as they sail past.
As you can see here we have 3-main attack forces, plus the cavalry who landed in the north.

Would destroying Cupertino prevent nukes from being made? I ask because even though I've seen AI get to Modern Times (I, however, have never gotten there- I've gotten pretty close, though), I don't think they've ever built Manhattan.

No. Once Manhatten built any civ with the knowledge of space and access to uranium plus aluminium can build :nuke:
Only Sun can build nukes currently (they and Linux have space but Linux lacks uranium)

edit IBM have 2 uranium so are presumably trading 1 to Sun
 
True, but sun has like, 7 cities. Nukes won't help them (I'm kind of surprised linux never dow on Sun)
 
Looks nice. MapStat says we have 44.2% of the world, we can probably reach domination limit if we fill up Apple's continent and get more cultural expansion in the former Yahoo and AOL territory. The question is... will we get it before Linux builds a spaceship? And will we have enough population to win? The AI likes to build huge cities (I see a couple that are size 30 already).

At least Linux doesn't have uranium, so that will delay their spaceship production for a while. But since uranium disappears and reappears so quickly, we can't really count on that.

If it comes down to a matter of pop, I'm in favor of selling all our libs and unis in our core, dropping science to zero, and then stealing space flight (possibly also satellites) so that we bury the AI in nukes. Any other ideas?
 
Well another way to go about it is continue as we are doing. We have successfully invaded and taken over Yahoo and almost completed Apple, why not IBM next? IBM has mpp with Linux (and ? also Sun) so an mpp with Linux, dow IBM and let them make first strike on Apple isle and hey presto, we can land and get our base established whilst Linux whacks em good. Once we are established we can easily make short work of IBM's remains then feast on Linux. I dont think this should be too hard at all. (of course if IBM can offer Linux something to make it worth their allying against us it could be more awkward - we have to ensure they have nothing worth offering)
 
I like the "build a bunch of nukes and obliterate the AI's" idea.
 
AOL? That's kind of surprising. I didn't know it was that bad. However, it does make your destruction of AOL Time Warner more pleasing. It's also pleasing to know that two of IBM's inventions got #13 and #18 and two of Apple's got #17 and #22. So- destroy them!! :devil: :evil:
 
I'm back online and although I've still got plenty of stuff still in boxes from the move, I could rejoin. Things have moved on a bit in this game but I'm off work next week so I have time to do the reading. Give me 24 hours and I could post a got it. Let me know where you want me in the order of play.
 
@ Tone, I suggest you take your time and get familiar with current setup and play next if you wish. Wait too long and this game will be over :mischief:


Current situation involves a MA romp through the last of Apple's lands - the main challenge being trying to use the arty stacks before MA do the job. WW will be a problem if lose too many units. My suggestion is try to take as many Apple cities in one go, waiting till arty in place, then keep the cities rto claim the land.

Next target is complicarted by MPPs. IBM are most backward, Sun weakest but only one's capable of building nukes. IBM have 2 uranium, one of which it is trading to Sun.

IBM are next logical target as they are closest and most backward, Linux could be manipulated into attacking them by buying a MPP, but as Sima points out this could give Linux uranium.

The other option is build bulk nukes and nuke the world in a first strike (land all our MAs the turn before)
 
Okay guys, it's been a week since Tone said give me 24 hrs and got it. Also, No one else has seemed to reply. So somebody has to play the save.
