ST3- Sirian's Followers

Woops, so did I. :) No wonder the game has been lounging around. At least now Tex will get us going again. Remember not to count the inherited turn!

- Sirian

If you are wondering why these 3 turns took so long, here is a preview

Final Tally:
THE WORLD MAP+ALL CONTACTS+7 Techs(Math,CoL,Poly,Const,Curr,Rep,Feud)+2797g (only Rangar has 394g)+Celtic worker for the small price of 12GPT to Rangar

[dance]

I think I'll revolt and maybe buy us some more embassies. ;)

800BC-0
Meet the neighbors, only ahead of Greece.
Moscow: one shield from settler so I switch for another library before 750BC due in 2 not wasiting all the shields next turn
St Pete: MM to not waste food or shields
Kiev: switch to settler in 10 but chop due in 2
Sevrdlovsk: warrior to Library, there is one right next to the town
Move eastern and western pickets out with growth.

775BC-1 Smolensk worker-->granary. Vike warrior moves so settler goes to hill. Workers are connecting Ivory, irrigate to Smolensk and continue roads to connect all towns. St. Pete grows and gets a tax man. Barb heads east from Odessa. Indian settler heads back East. England has the most expensive map so I buy it for 3g and sell it back around for a net of 44g. Use this to get an embassy with Germany for 47g.

750BC-2 Moscow library-->settler. Growth requires taxman so halting all growth and settler in 3. St.Pete barracks-->settler. Also needing tax man due to whip, settler in 5. Chop completes in Kiev, so settler and growth due in 5. Whip library in Sevastopol. Scandinavian units keep marching north past Yakutsk. Vladivostok built on Yellow dot and starts library. CoL is too expensive and Math will cost us 12 of our 16GPT.

730BC-3 Sevastopol library-->worker Moscow and Odessa expand and the horses are in our border. Babylon is known by all now! They know the Romans, Carthaginians, Egyptians, Persians, Zulu and Ottomans. Babs know math and CoL but only Scandinavia has these contacts. Cannot buy Babs WM outright. Persian contact is the most expensive so I will start there.

Round One:
Persian from Vikes for WM+12GPT+90g.
Roman+Egyptian+WM from Persia for WM+German
Carthaginian+Zulu+WM+17g from Rome for Literature
Ottoman+WM+16g from Egypt for English
Everybody has Math and CoL and Hannibal is up Poly.
Round Two:
CoL+Math from Egypt for French+WM...Cleo was broke
Currency+WM+44g from Zulu for Indian+WM

422g+WM from Spain for Construction
136g+WM from England for Roman+Persian+Zulu
Republic+WM from Vikes for Currency+Construction+450g+WM
We have all known tech....who needs the Great Library!
Round Four:
15g+WM from France for Persian
15g+WM from Germany for Roman
6g+WM from Greece for Egyptian
216g+WM from Babylon for Construction
790g from Carthage for Repubilc
146g from Scandinavia for Polytheism
The World is now backrupt.

Final Tally:
THE WORLD MAP+ALL CONTACTS+7 Techs(Math,CoL,Poly,Const,Curr,Rep,Feud)+2797g(only Rangar has 394g)+Celtic worker for the small price of 12GPT :goodjob:

Start min research on Monotheism and revolt with 4 turns of anarchy. -17GPT and Kiev has a food shortage.
Decide to end turn before buying embassies to see if the other civs will change their economy or builds.

IBT Spain declares on Germany and Rome starts the Great Library.

710BC-4 Barbarian Uprising starts NW of Vladivostok with 16 horsemen and one killed our westward looking scout.
Sell map to keep world poor: 5g from Ghandi, Joan, Shaka, 4g from Hannibal, Cleo, 3g from Brennus, 2g from Bismarck, Caesar, 1g from England. Get 9g for contact with Greece from Osman.
Persia has Monotheism as their free tech but they want Feud and Republic for it. I figure they will buy Republic anyway so I trade techs and chip in another 8g. Start research on Theology.

Babs complete Great Library in capital. Persians swap to Sun Tzu's. Barbs split up and only 6 are in range of Vlad.

690BC-5 Have to stop road work near Sverdlovsk to save worker. Vikes bought Feud from Persia.

Barbs defeat warrior in Vlad 3-1 and take 610g. Minsk grew and needed clown, not taxman and riots. Vikes start Sun Tzu's.

670BC-6 Engineering was someones free tech and those who could have it now. Get it from Osman for Monotheism+80g. Buy French worker for 105g.

Greece declares on Germany. Spain & Babylon start Sun Tzu's.

650BC-6 The Republic starts and our people have not forgotten the whip. :spank: 20% lux at +1GPT requires a clown in Odessa, St. Pete, With the only person in Sverdlovsk working on Theology for us.

Defeat barb horse at Vlad. Get new entrace to palace. Babylon has 2 costal cities to our NW.

630BC-7 move workers Sevastopol cannot grow now so it starts on temple.

610BC-8 Moscow settler-->settler heading west. Map brokering nets 93g. Rush library in Tblisi for 40g, in Sverdlovsk for 136g,....miss click and end turn and loose our scientist for one turn. :wallbash:

Barbs take another 129 from Vlad after killing warrior 3-1.

590BC-9 Kiev setter-->market, settler heading east. Tblisi library-->temple, already losing one square to Germany. Sverdlovsk library-->market. Rush library in Yakutsk for +/-130. Hit Yes to quick. :o Map trading nets 24g.

570BC-10 Yakutsk library-->courthouse. St. Pete settler-->market, heading west.

Feel free to trade maps this turn. That has been more than making up for our 5GPT deficit. Babylon has the lighthouse. I have two settlers heading to the red and purple dots in the west. The second has a warrior with him. One settler heading into the Eastern desert to secure that border. The settler out of Moscow in 2 can join him out there, head to the far north, or plop down near our central oasis. The seven faces showing are even (Osman, Xerxes,Hammi,Isabella) or close to us (Ragnar,Ghandi,Bismarck down Monotheism). Greece is so far back it is sad. The others are all in the Middle ages but all do not have Republic yet. No one has Monarchy.

The Save.

Good trading turns Gen !
Guess you got punished by the Civ gods for making all that money by losing so much to the Barbs ;)

Good job 6gentex! Maybe it was a good thing I missed this round, I might have been too lazy to write up such a long report!
Things are looking much better than when I left (as long as nobody decides to try and stomp on us!)

Anyway. Back from holidays and ready to jump back into the rotation. I'm sorry the game lapsed there on my turn! :)

Sorry, it took that long to post my turns...I had a lot of trouble during the weekend.:(

(570bc-0) Fire St.Pete's taxman...he is not needed with 20% lux that I'm going to keep during my turns. I rather spend a couple of gold to keep the people working than lose the food and shields.
swap St.Pete to settler.
We need more workers, I'll try to build a couple during my turns:)

(550bc-1)moscow: settler>settler

(530bc-2) found Novgorod and Krasnoyarsk. There was a German sword/settler-pair ready to found a city on the spot I wanted Krasnoyarsk to be on, so has some overlap with other cities.

(470bc-5) St. Pete: worker>worker
(450bc-6)Moscow:settler>worker
(430bc-7)St-Pete: worker>worker
(410bc-8)Moscow: worker>settler
Vladivostok: warrior>worker
Rostov founded, closing the big gap in our terriotory: this city should be able to support only 3 citizens before railroads, however it will be a nice supplier of military with 7 spt. It starts on a worker

(370bc-10) Smolensk: granary>worker
St.Pete: worker>duct.

There have not been any tech-trades available on my turn (monarchy has shown up, but I did not see any point in acquiring this one), I did trade our wm picking up some spare change. with one more granary completing next turn, we should be able to churn out some more workers that will improve our core and allow for more income and production (especially moscow will grow extremely quickly: the city is able to pull +10fpt)

the turn

IT 370BC: We're in good shape. We got some early culture going -- not enough to keep up, but enough to stabilize locations plagued by small amounts of cultural pressure. We got pretty much all the land I hoped that we could, which is a genuine shocker, all things considered.

Now the bad news. Two of these cities are in really unpleasant locations for overlap or waste. Bad enough, I decide to pick them up and move them! That will cost ~140g plus the time lost, but I think it will be worth doing anyway, and that's rare. Normally I just go with what others do with city placement.

I decide to rush the library at Krasnoyarsk, western shore where the Germans nabbed the point. (How did that happen? By ship?)

350BC: The Spanish are warring with somebody big time on our eastern front. I opt to make a bold land grab over there while we still can. Both settlers plus the one picked up from the abandoned city advance toward the existing borders of our neighbors. The settler out of the desert town moves NE and the new settler out of Moscow moves east. I have Moscow start another settler to grab the last of the six sites I hope to nab.

330BC: I decide to found Astrakhan in the ultrasafe culturally defensive spot, where it's guaranteed not to clash with the nearby Germans. Otto and X-man are the Big Dogs out here. We do not need a war with Germany and could end up keeping the peace with them long term, if they are willing. That's bad news at Tblisi, where will need to keep a massive garrison both for defense and flip suppression. Ooh, it pulls in two shields off a forest. Needs irrigation, as does Tbilisi.

310BC: That's Germany the Spanish are warring with. Luck seems to be with Izzy, whose horsemen are more than holding their own in the open spaces vs swords and midievals. I have to rush the worker at Vladivostok. BE CAREFUL! Unconnected cities with no 2-food tiles will STARVE when they grow to size 2! The 12 gold I spend is well worth the worker saved out of the starving town, topping off the last three shields left to go. Next turn, the town will riot, but the rushed worker will be produced anyway. PLEASE WATCH FOR THIS PROBLEM IN THE SOUTHEAST, too.

Middle Turns: Found a buncha cities. Rush the temple at Spice Town to help aid cultural superiority. Rush libraries on the new eastern border. Rush temple out of Sevastopol, too, where a cultural clash is coming and we hope to avoid losing. I've about given up on superiority at Tblisi. Germans and Spanish make peace. Otto agreed with my assessment that she was being too lucky.

Late: Babs build their third Superpower Wonder in Babylon. Good grief! That one city has Pyramids, Great Library and SunTzu. They must have used their golden age wisely!

I spot an Indian settler roaming north of Odessa. Not good. I think they are going for the gap with that last unclaimed spice between Yakutsk and Sevastopol. We can stop that with borders expanding soon, by temporarily blockading the two eligible tiles with warriors. I order that to take place, even though it leaves two cities empty. At the last minute, I also check the risk factor with the horses at Odessa. There are several tiles at risk, but they will come under our control within a few more turns when borders expand to range three. (Bless those early libraries!) All but one tile, that is. One tile will remain exposed. I send one of the two warriors at Odessa out there on goto to park there and cover it. PLEASE LEAVE THESE BLOCKADES IN PLACE UNTIL BORDERS COVER THE TILES, TO PREVENT AI POACHING.

When our spice got connected, I had dropped Lux to 10%. On the last turn, I raise it back to 20% so St.Pete's aqueduct will finish next turn. We might want to leave it at 20%, as growth is now pushing our happiness to the edge again anyway, and Moscow would be screwed in a couple turns when it grows to size 8. With lux at 20%, Moscow can get to size 9 or 10, which we should let it do. With market, it could reach size 11 or maybe even 12.

OUR MILITARY SITUATION IS BEYOND DIRE. We have poured everything into expansion and culture. We must catch up on military. I started the process. We have a barracks at Smolensk and are training pikes. I upgraded one warrior to MDI to have something other than regular warriors. (Not a single spear? Wow.) Iron got connected, so we need to train a ton of vet pikes before gunpowder prevents us from doing so.

We want a temple at St.Pete, but otherwise all the early culture we need is done or in progress. I have one harbor being built to enable sea trade. After that, our core needs about half a dozen barracks and train troops for several centuries. More urgent even than markets and keeping up in tech. We can afford Chivalry on the cheap, but we'd be better off to nab a 3fer if we can, buying Theology (which we have 26 turns of lone scientist invested into already!) and trade that for chivalry, trade both for invention. We would have been able to do this if I hadn't rushed any buildings, but I considered border stabilization a higher priority.

Please build us some pikes and horsemen! I did manage to significantly improve the worker situation.

Oh, and I traded Joan Republic for Monarchy straight up, so we have that covered. SunTzu got built late, with Zulus nabbing Gardens in the cascade. Everyone else survived on to Sistine and Leo, but perhaps these will be done before we get to any more wonder techs.

st3-150bc.jpg

I built Grozny and Astrakhan in culturall defensive locations.
Remember the poach-blockades around Sevastopol.

I suggest Minsk for our FP. Moscow is too centrally located.
After the temple, build the FP at Minsk.
We can move the Palace later with a leader, eastward.

You can see our dire military situation. Thank god we have embassies with everybody!

With the harbor, we can trade lux and iron toward techs.

Good luck with the new Armed Forces Training Program.

Oh, and today I will be upgrading to PTW v1.27, so I can prepare Epic 36.
This SG and ST1 will both upgrade on or before my next turn.
If anybody is still working Epic 32 or has version conflicts with other SG's, let me know.
I will try to accomodate you as best I can.

Speaker is UP NOW.

 Crimoniferous! We've got some cr@ppy land!
Good job with the land grabs. If you look JUST at land area on the mini map, we are not that bad off for a Diety game. We can't afford to tee off anybody for the forseeable future though.

V1.27 is no problem for me. I have 3 other SGs on 1.21, but I'll just install the two versions into different drives/directories.

Is Speaker a permanent addition to slot 2?

Uh... no. I meant Skyfish is up. :crazyeye: That's what happens you play two almost-identical scenarios with different rosters. In my defense, I did not originally plan it that way. :)

I decide to rush the library at Krasnoyarsk, western shore where the Germans nabbed the point. (How did that happen? By ship?)
Yes. Nothing I could do against that.

This is going to be an interesting game, I think: we have enough land to keep up, but it'll take a lot of work to get the population needed. Good you kept on building us some workers:)

I dont know what 's happening I can't download the save :(
I have tried different combinations round the shortcut Sirian gave but have not been successful yet
