ST3- Sirian's Followers

I looked at Sirian's save last night and have a couple of questions.

Back in 420AD, we traded away some iron and got it bac kwith a trade to France. Was our 2nd iron source not connected at that time?

Golden Age. Are we going to wait until Seti for a Wonder inspired GA or cut back on some trades to a possible victim of our Cossacks?

Democracy. I was going ask about timing of the Revolt, but it will have to wait until after Hoover's now.

If Ghandi is marching his army through our eastern mountain range, is it worth getting him to pay for that privilege?

I've got it.

-6gntxn

Uhmmm... my votes.

Iron sources:? I don't know.

Golden Age: Probably Wonder inspired. Our military is pretty pathetic, although our core cities are getting to the point (catching up on infrastructure) where they *could* build a decent military if they had to.

Democracy: I thought we were going to stay in Republic?

Let Ghandi slog his way through our East.

Hey am back ! Sorry for missing my turn...
Really dunno what happened here... :(
I saw the game was going to grab it, then somehting else grabbed me and enxt thing you know its 2 days later... :whipped:
My apologies to Sirian and the whole team.

Just FYI I am not playing in TH5 and never asked for an indefinite skip
but that's OK I often get mixed up with Speaker don't I ;)

By the way ...."we dont need no steenkin Golden Age !" :D

Found a worker sleeping on the job in Astrakhan and put him back to work. Switch temple to university here. Switch Maikop from courthouse to market. Switch Dneprop from courthouse to aqueduct to complete before filling box for 7 pop. Minsk has palace in 5 or cathedral in 3 so I'll wait a couple of turns before buying electricity. France has money so they get Steam @7 for 2160g +WM. They have no GPT to offer. Trade around maps for about 100g.

Gandhi wants us to help the rest of the world against the Celts. I decline and he now has 2 elephants that did not follow the herd moving in our territory. Rome and England find peace.

660AD-1 St. Pete bank-->rifleman Sevastopol aqueduct--> factory Silkgrad walls-->university Rostov temple-->aqueduct I'm concerned about India getting a GA boost to their attempt at US so I take a look and they still have 11 turns to go. I start a diet in Moscow to shave a turn down to 5. Buy one of his workers so it does not go work in Bombay for 99g+WM.

France and Persia ally against the Celts. India and Persia ally against the Zulu.

670AD-2 Kiev coal plant-->rifleman Time to Buy Electricity. Gandhi has best price @4 for 5900. WE have an 81GPT deal running out in 2 turns so I'll put 80GPT on the deal to keep his elephants headed south. Electricity for 4410g+80GPT+Map trade. Ottomans only have 66GPT to offer. They are researching it since they want 800g+Ele for Corp. England has no money and will take a straight swap Ele@5 for Corp@6. Take it while I can. SciMeth is not out there yet so will give Minsk it's Cathedral now.

Rome and Egypt find peace. Greece wants an MPP and ROP. Egypt and India sign alliance against Zulu. England declares on the Germans!

680AD-3 Minsk cathedral-->palace pre-build. Karkov builds another worker. St. Pete rifleman-->stock exchange Rush aqueduct in Rostov.

Zulu and Greece sign peace. Spain wants an embargo. Ottomans start US. I never noticed the dog running with the conquistador. Spain has joined India marching south.

690AD-4 Rostov starts a market. Gandhi does not renew the gem trade. He wants 650g so I keep him honest with 33GPT, getting 7g in change. Rush aqueduct in Sverdlovsk to time with growth to 7.

India and Persia ally against Rome. RoP with England ends. Price for German RoP goes up 1 to 6GPT.

700AD-5 Sverdlovsk starts a factory.

Ottomans ally with the Persians against the Celts. Greece and the Vikings join forces against Rome. Vikings and England ally against the Zulus.

710AD-6 We complete Universal Sufferage!
Moscow starts a cathedral. Still no SciMeth, so give Minsk a Stock Exchange.

Germany and Persia join forces against the Zulu. Celts and Rome find peace. Vikes and Germany ally against England. Greece and Germany ally against the Celts.

720AD-7 Kiev bank-->worker Minsk starts pre-build again. With every one at war with the Celts, they now have GPT. They get Steam@8 for 99GPT+108g. They will last 20 turns. the have their core ring of 6 size 12 cities and an island out in the ocean to escape to if needed. Refining has arrived and is 7350 @3 but I want SciMeth. Max research will give us +294GPT but still take 11 turns for self research while our pre-build is only 5 turns.

Babylon and India ally against Rome.

730AD-8 St. Pete stock exchange-->cathedral Kiev worker-->courthouse We have reached point of no return in Minsk. If ToE does not show up in 3 turns, we will have a very expensive coliseum or courthouse.

Carthage and Babylon find peace. Carthage and India ally against Rome.

740AD-9 Moscow cathedral-->stock exchange. Dneprop. aqueduct-->market Rep.Parts available now. Get it @3 form India for 6150g. RP@4+Spices+1050g to England for Refining @4. The oil is under Maikop and near Minsk. The rubber is not connected near Kiev and Sevastopol.

Carthage and Zulu sign peace. Rome asking for alliance vs. Babylon. Carthage and India ally against the Celts. Egypt and India join forces against Zulu. Rome and Persia join England against Germany.

750AD-10 Keiv courthouse-->stock exchange Tblisi university-->aqueduct.
I'm leaving all worker moves available. Be sure and connect the rubber near Kiev.

Minsk has 2 turns left on the Palace. We can change Smolesk to StockE (lose 29s), rush Moscow & Kiev this turn (2100g), we can convert it to Wall Street. The AI did not want to research ToE.
Germany has 116GPT to go with Communism for RepParts and Refining. That would even out the leaders: India, Persia, England, Ottoman, Germany and us.
France and the Celts have some workers for sale if you are interested.
Spain and Egypt have 50 & 45GPT available for Steam.
I have not sold the maps around since the beginning of my turns.

Have Fun!

Back in 420AD, we traded away some iron and got it bac kwith a trade to France. Was our 2nd iron source not connected at that time?
I traded our only iron source away for a tech and got it back from france for an outdated one...our workers had better things to do than roading mountains at that time.

Just FYI I am not playing in TH5 and never asked for an indefinite skip
but that's OK I often get mixed up with Speaker don't I
oops...why do all the good players here have their names start with "S"? That's what you get for confusing newbies.
Sorry for that, Sullla;)

 I can't believe I missed that during a critical railroading turn!

It sounds to me like the tech race is slowing just a wee bit. Maybe we can eventually afford to build a dozen or so tanks and whomp on some Scandy butt to provide our only war of the entire game?
(And tow along our 3 cossacks and have them pick off some stragglers to trigger our Golden Age?)

@Skyfish Sorry for skipping you. It's not like this was a super-fast SG anyways. We could have waited a couple of days.

No, no, it's good you skipped me, you'd waited a long time already...

This has been a fun game so far. Unfortunately, the pace is bogging down as players are not completing their turns in timely fashion, nor are they letting us know they need to be skipped. I know gaming has to take a back seat to other things, but really, it only takes a few minutes to let us know that you're busy. If you can't do even that (in general, applies to everybody, with the occasional "understandable emergency"), you are in over your head in terms of commitments.

If we haven't heard from Mav by tomorrow night, I'll take my turn. I'm also going to have to get hard line about the deadlines, since cutting slack is not working out for this one, with the whole roster having taken a turn at slow posting and the game in danger of dying a nasty SG death to attrition like so many before it.

- Sirian

With the temporary slowdown on this game, my next turn will fall in the middle of the week. Unfortunately, I will be traveling and will have to be skipped until September 6.

-6gntxn

I had some serious trouble with my computer...being without internet access since the 28th, I had no possibility to tell you to skip me. really sorry for that:(

here's the report:

st3-750ad-850ad

(750ad-0)move some workers
we seem in good shape:)

sell around some techs for communism, ~350gpt, silks and three workers

IBT -Spain declares war on Germans
Spain+Persia MA vs. Rome
Carthage+Persia MA vs. Germany
Greece declares war on Germans
(760ad-1) Smolensk: factory>stock exchange

Kursk: market>worker

communism to carthage for 157gpt
rep.parts to Germany for 118gpt
comm. to Celts for 84gpt

now making 1288gpt

rush three stock exchanges, so our pre-build in minsk can be swapped to wall street.
IBT: India+Persia MA vs. Germany
England and Carthage sign peace treaty
France and Rome sign peace traty
France and India MA vs. Germany
scandinavia+France MA vs Germany

(770ad-2) moscow: stock exch>worker
st. Pete: stock exch.>worker

smolensk: stock exch.>artillery
odessa: factory>bank
sverdlovsk: factory>cathedral
Yakutsk: factory>worker

St.Pete: worker>palace
Minsk: wall street>worker
Yakutsk: worker>worker

ibt: ottomans+scndinavia ma vs. england

(790ad-4) not much, move some workers, wait for sc.method
ibt: france+egypt sign a mpp
egypt declares war on germans
india starts ToE; we'll wait a couple of turns...as long as our prebuild allows us to, so the price for sc.meth. can drop a bit.

(800ad-5) Vladivostok: uni>duct

ibt: celts+india sign peace treaty
babs+england sign a mpp
zulu+france sign peace treaty
babs declare war on vikes

(820ad-7) Our palace is going to finish next turn...time to acquire sc.meth.:)
electricity to france for espionage, 44gpt, 280g
buy sc.method from india for 4.4k;switch st.pete's to ToE (due in 5), moscow starts intelligence Agency as Hover-prebuild

ibt: babs destroy the zulu

(830-850ad) move workers, produce some more defensive units. ToE will be built in 2 turns, well before India's Lahore (I investigated that one this turn; India is a democracy running 100% science, btw).
We are making over 1250gpt atm with 12.500g in the bank which should be enough to keep up in science up to the modern Age. With libraries and universities in most cities we also should be able to start self-researching at any time.

the turn, have fun and sorry for the delay.

Well, I'm glad you made it back in time, Maz. I'll take that as a good omen, and hope the game pace picks up a bit for all players.

Tex out until 6th. Must remember, must remember.

OK, I got it.

- Sirian

Inherited Turn: swapped some other stuff to factory. Yes, in Kharkov the build order will have been granary-factory. Please no more workers out of there, btw. Needs to catch up now, slowly but surely.

Early: lots of warring taking place. We build Darwin's Voyage and Intel Agency. I poach a razed colony on the west coast, Magnitogorsk, which sees a few rush projects. Hoover due by end of my round.

Middle: Lots of AI wars starting, a few ending. Germany seems to be under siege. I rush a coupla factories. Nordics threaten for Electricity and I cave, since we had too many workers on the border, the tech is obsolete, and we're not exactly ready.

Late: Persia, who has been cash-broke all round, researches Atomic Theory. Blah. I had my eye on India, who was researching but not due to score for several turns. Cost us about 3k or so in sales to India, but we did slow the tech pace a few turns. I go ahead and sell to them and England, everyone else is broke or behind or both.

Sanitation is researched the next round by, of all folks, the Nordics. Trade them RepParts for Sanitation @5th. Swap some waiting police station prebuilds to hospitals.

Just prior to the last turn, I rush all our factories. (Missed one, apparently). Most were half done or more, a couple got the full monty. We were first in manufacturing BEFORE the factory rush and free hydro power. Now we're really booming. A wee bit more infra to finish, then it's time to "acquire" some more territory. :satan:

Steel's been on the table all turn long and I never pulled the trigger. India had monopoly on it until Sanitation came out. Now that we have Hoover, Electronics can be brokered when desired.

A LOT of deals from Maz's turn (sales to AI's) expire next turn, in 960AD, and we must re-up the sales immediately or the gpt will be shipped off to other AI's. Big brokering turn coming up next.

The min-sci run on Radio is not going to happen, but I wanted to keep WLTKD going in the two pressured cities, so what the hey. We don't want to speed the tech pace. In fact, if it goes a little slower while we "acquire" more land :satan: that would be fine with me.

Of course, X-man is once again the big dog. India is finally getting some, as England attacked him and got some others to pile on. Possible that they both will collapse, and that could slow the research.

ST3 - 950AD

Skyfish is up next.

I am teribly sorry but I can not get to this game before leaving for holiday in a few hours....

Good God, man! Where are your priorities? ;) Delay your vacation! :D

Got it.

Holy Greenbacks, Batman! He gots lots of dough! F11 reveals we are Number 1 in Mfg Goods and Income, but dead last in Military. :D We have 25000 in cash, +1433 per turn, and are on 52 turn left research on Radio. (yeah, right!) We are up Electronics but down Steel on the leaders.

Preturn: Rush Factory in Kursk & Marketplace in Maikop. Silkgrad switched to Aqueduct 'cuz it was maxed in pop.
IT: Rome and Babylon make peace. Rome and Germany make Peace. France declared war on India. Observed a nice naval battle off our coast between India and Babylon.
960 AD (1) St. Pete (Coloseum->Galleon) In case a poaching oppourtunity presents itself? Minsk (Coloseum->Police) Yakutsk (Barracks->Bank) Krasnoyarsk (Cathedral->Hospital) Maikop (Marketplace->Temple) Kursk (Factory-Temple) The following deals expired: Carthage (157gpt), Egypt (26gpt), Germany (118gpt), Scandinavia (33gpt), & Celts (84gpt)
Carthage gets Industrialiazation for 78 gpt plus change. Their income must have fallen drastically as they cannot go above 20gpt now. I give them Espionage for that price. Egypt also dropped, shipped them Refining for 23 gpt. Germany gives us 117gpt and change for Atomic Theory. 36 gpt from Scandinavia for Scientific Method. (Should we consider stopping trading to the Vikes as we may soon want to pound on them?) The Celts really got hammered and can't put together any gpt deals. I decide to hold onto Electronics for one more turn. Per Sirian's viewpoints, I don't buy the available Celt Workers. Rush some infrastructure.

IT: Xman wants a MPP. Ottomans declare against Rome. Carthage declares on the Vikes and India.
970 AD (2) Smolensk (Police->Infantry) Odessa (Hospital->Stock Exchange) Sevastapol (Coloseum->Marketplace) Tblisi (Cathedral->Marketplace) Sverdlovsk (Police->Stock Exchange) Vladivostok (Cathedral->Bank) Silkgrad (Aquaduct->Marketplace) Kharkov (Temple-Marketplace) Astrakhan (Marketplace->Temple) Rostov (Cathedral->Bank) Dnepropetrovsk (Hospital->University) Palace Expansion. Ship Sanitation to Carthage for Wines and 380 gold.

IT: Celts and Carthage sign peace. Our workers look on as the German's Infantry massacre the advance out-of-date units the Spanish are sending through our Eastern Mountains
980 AD (3) Moscow (Hospital->Coliseum) Astrakhan (Temple->Cathedral) Kursk (Temple->Cathedral)

IT: Ottomans and England sign peace. Huge land battle in our East between the Germans and Spain/Vikings. New Hannover is taken over by the Persians (From the Germans).
990 AD (4) Minsk (Police->Infantry) Dnetropetrovsk (Uni->Cathedral) Maikop (Temple->Cathedral) Rush all infrastructure projects. Ship Vikings Atomic Theory for 100 gpt and change. Trade Electronics to England for 455 gpt, and 500 gold. Straight across trade for Steel to India (I wanted to suck England dry of gold first). Persia didn't want to give up anything except for Wines, which is better than nothing, I suppose.

IT: Germany and Carthage make peace. Egypt and Rome do the same. Spain Declares war on the Vikings. France declares war on them also. (Now would be the time to dog-pile onto them....if we had the military to do it!) Celts are almost extinct with France getting most of their territory.
1000 AD (5) Almost all cities complete their builds. Those who have completed infrastructure are pumping out Infantry and a few Artillery. Trade Egypt Scientific Method for 28 gpt and change. Every city is in WLTC day.

IT: Our workers blithely work on the Railroad with a major war going on around them amongst 3 participants. (Note the two German Infantry armies!) Greece jumps into a couple of wars (and will get trounced!)
st3pic003.jpg

1010 AD (6) More infra builds complete + 4 Infantry and a Artillery. Still no razed cities nearby we can be opportunistic on (3 settlers standing by.) Mainland Celts are down to their last, capital city. Trade some obsolete techs to the bottom dwellers for a modest income. Everyone is broke except India and Persia. (We're sucking England dry at the moment)

IT: Rome and India make peace. The Celts in their last great act of defiance declare on Germany. At least 20 infantry units die in our eastern hills between the Vikes, Germans, and Spainairds. Celts got kicked, they only have 2 small Island cities.
1020 AD (7) More infra builds complete - rushed last turn. Saving Battlefield Medicine for a pre-build. No trades this turn

IT: Infantry wars are even more boring to watch than participating! ;) Spain declares war on India (Woohoo!) Decline a MPP offer from Germany.
1030 AD (8) No new trades or techs available. More infantry and infra-rushing.

IT: France and India sign peace (boo!) French start attacking Vikings big time. I hope they raze some cities!
1040 AD (9) The usual. Our workers have almost improved every possible square. No trades available.

IT: Lots of civs suddenly dogpile on Egypt. Major French attack against Farsund on our border (Vikes) The French have 3 Cav armies!, one of which dies. The city holds, our settlers are standing by. We break the 2000 gpt profit barrier.
1050 AD (10) Nothing much. I rush a couple of builds. Half our cities are maxed out on infrastructure, and another 2/3'rds are almost there. I was going to start a Wonder pre-build, but this tech pace has me wondering about the timing. Trade WM around and ship Steel to France for 480 plus 17gpt.

The tech pace has really slowed down. I think I sold Electronics slightly before the AI's researched it themselves, I was hoping to trade it for both Steel and Combustion. At this rate, maybe our Radio gambit will succeed? We now have 55 Infantry and 9 Artillery, plus the 3 Cossacks for possible GA trigger.

New bombay has 676 culture, making 9 per turn; our magnitogorsk is making 12 p.t. (14 with rushed colloseum) and has 94 culture...if we manage to catch up, we'll get a rubber ressouce.
Pune has 1217, making 19pt...I start Battlefield Medicine in Yakutsk: with 1134 and 21pt it does have a chance to get us some spices (I should have mentioned it in my last report, but i have been rushing some culture in Yakutsk already)
india is in communism without noticeable corruption and running 70% science.

we have a couple of artillery and infantery standing around and our workers need more cities to improve, so I declare war on the Vikes: the are pathetic, so we can build up even more forces during this war; we'll get some productive cities that are not too far away from our core+eventually a leader to relocate our palace and get a second core. The war with the Vikes is progressing slowly, but with the artillery support we are making almost no losses at all; we should be able to take Stavanger next turn which will give us one more lux.
Astrakhan+Silkgrad will be maxed out next turn...silkgrad migh build a couple of workers as it can gain the production back quickly: we do have more than enough workers for our current territory, but with all the jungle that has to be cleared in Nordland, we might need some more:)

I was building rushing just about every improvement, especially cultural enhancing ones. Coloseums don't add *much* culture, but everything helps!

Good job on the Scandies, but didn't we break some per-turn agreements with them when you declared? They were getting slammed by the Germans and French, so the timing was good.
