Stand Up to Fascism

The fascistic element was introduced by Trump

What anticipated consequences would realistically be expected if the NFL did not comply with Trump's stated preference?

But if fascism is autocratic, wouldn't businesses by their very nature qualify?

No, but them being capable of influencing legislation is still a serious issue.

For example, Donald Trump is a fan of using eminent domain to benefit business. He wants government to seize your land for his business, seems fascistic to me.

USA has been a "fan" of this since long before either of us were born. Is there a significant upturn in rate since Trump took office?

Best I can tell, major political party candidates in the US are more influenced by corporate entities/deep state than the reverse. That's nothing good, but it's not adequately or even reasonably explained by the meaning of the word "fascism" when I look that up.

As part of the out-group and not particularly charismatic in his approach (to say the least), Trump is a significant shakeup on the power structure. I wish someone more capable of maintaining image, acting self-consistently, and handling media BS managed to win instead...but the trash 2 party system reaching deep into corporate pockets here does a pretty good job of filtering those kinds of people out.

I don't think "Fascism" is the appropriate term. Fascism, like Communism (another such term often used in such an inappropriately generic sense) are actually very specific ideologies, world views, forms of government and economics, and social and cultural promotion. While each has some variation within (Mussolini's Corporatism, Falangism, Naziism, Shintaisei, etc. for Fascism, and Marxism-Leninism, Stalinism, Trotskyism, Post-Stalinisit Revisionism, Titoism, Maoism, Hoxhaism, etc. for Communism), they both nonetheless have a very narrow purview and definition in their proper definition and application. I think what has to be understood here, going forward, before people start "crying wolf" using various inappropriate and outdated terms, and then trying to force analogs and comparisons to match their declarations, is that definitely a new governing style and "order," if you will, is forming and coalescing in the world (though I, personally, believe Trump is actually a very small part of the phenomenon, unless many, who seem to believe he's the defining architect), that whatever this new regime may end up forming into, it will be something unprecedented - no doubt Dystopian, but without direct previous analog - in our history. It will not truly be Fascism - it will be different, but certainly not better...

Roseanne has been cancelled for her tweet calling former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes. Bye bye Roseanne... That reminds me, didn't she 'sing' the national anthem a few years back in Sad Diego before a ballgame in which she intentionally butchered the song? And Trump's a big fan?

What anticipated consequences would realistically be expected if the NFL did not comply with Trump's stated preference?

It aint his job to state a preference. But lets see... A Trumpet attacking NFL players/owners. Trump trying to financially hurt team owners like he does with Amazon and other businesses that get him mad. I mean, the Prez does have power, no? He can screw with people who dont do as told. If he wants someone fired for taking a knee, he wont be too happy with the person who doesn't fire them. If I was fired (and removed from the country) because my criticism upset the President I'd consider him a fascist. I dont know what definition you're using, but that kind of autocratic behavior is close enough to fascism for me.

USA has been a "fan" of this since long before either of us were born. Is there a significant upturn in rate since Trump took office?

Thats not true, historically eminent domain could only be used for the public good - the building of forts, govt buildings, etc... But there has been a movement - which Trump exemplifies - for business to seek the use of eminent domain under the pretense of expanding the tax base.

Would it become fascistic if Trump began expelling players who kneel during the anthem from the country?
Authoritarian and inconstitutional, (as well as morally, ethically, etc. wrong) but not necessarily fascistic. Just because actual fascists (see Patine's post) do it does not mean that it is privy to them.
