Wow we've come along way.

I just saw this post about having civilization-specific tech trees. I think we should look into it and try to have the Yuuzhan Vong have their own tech tree.

Unfortunately, I don't have my New Jedi Order novels here to help me along those lines. As of right now, I'm trying to incorporate a Vong branch of the tech tree, since it would be the only Civ that would actually need it, with a few things other Civs would use attached, to provide incentive to actually research their techs (outside promotions).

I don't believe there is enough technical material about the Yuuzhan Vong that could make their own tech tree. I'm not sure I can fill the existing one without "empty" techs:-x

Hey DonStamos, could you post a list of what EU books you have read? You've obviously read alot and I'm just interested. I just started into the EU myself after some guys introduced me to it here in college.

I've read:
Truce at Bakura
Courtship of Princess Leia
Heir to the Empire (I'm reading the second one now, and I have the third and the Hand of Thrawn Duology on the book shelf waiting for me).

I own literally all but twenty or so of the novels.

Good EU reading:

Shadows of the Empire, S.D. Perry (almost required)
Outbound Flight, Timothy Zahn
Survivor's Quest, Timothy Zahn
I, Jedi, I forget the author atm
The entire NJO (Balance Point is the slowest novel IMO, and Traitor was a very pleasant surprise - I thought it was going to stink)
The Dark Nest Trilogy

I tend to pride myself on my EU knowledge. I've only been stumped once in SW trivia, and I memorized that question so it wouldn't happen again

Good for you. I've read almost sixty Star Wars novels, and have gotten to the point where my local Barnes and Noble doesn't carry any books that I don't have.

Ok, I'm a Star Wars nerd, kinda. I'm not a guy who can list off a bunch of random facts about it, but I am familiar with it. And on a sick day from school about four years ago I laid in bed and watched The Empire Strikes Back six times in a row.

You could have watched the original trilogy twice or (now that all 6 episodes are done) watched the entire saga start to finish like I have done.

I also have watched the entire Lord of the Rings extended versions in a row which is also about 12 hours long. And I've read the LoTR Trilogy, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, The Book of Lost Tales 1 and 2, and The Unfinished Tales. I'm a little better with LotR trivia than Star Wars actually, but I love them both.

We haven't done the terrain yet, so it's normal still. I've tried modding the terrain but gave up because it's really hard.

well, one idea is to make the seas look like space and have the land be star systems, that way cities wouldn't be built in places that look strange. only problem it would need a vast amount of individual islands, etc. The modder for song of the moon did change the terrain so I guess its possible.

You remember correctly. In fact, in Dark Force Rising, when Thrawn "first" tested the device, the ship he was testing it on did not even disappear from sight, just his sensors.

It's been a year or so since I read it, but wasn't the reason the ship didn't disappear because Thrawn was really cloaking the cargo it was carrying, and not the ship itself? IIRC he had a wave of TIE fighters sitting invisible inside an old freighter, to sneak them into somewhere.

But however you do it, cloaking devices would be fun. Good work on the mod guys.

If you like comic books at all, you might enjoy the Dark Empire graphic novel as well. It takes place right after the events in the Thrawn trilogy, and has some interesting twists in it.

The two sequels (Dark Empire 2 and Empire's End) aren't very good though.

You're right. I remembered that the ship stayed visible and Pellaeon thought the test failed, but I couldn't remember what Thrawn was really after at the time other than the test was a success.

I've gotten a lot of the old comics I've missed from this online comic shop HERE.

Sometimes you have to wait for them to restock, but I've filled out a lot of holes in my collection shopping there.

Sometimes when I'm bored I'll just read stuff on Wookieepedia. I have gotten alot of source images for the loading screens I've been making from there.

Hopefully one has Thrawn. By and far, he is the single best EU character yet. Mara Jade, Talon Karrde and Tsavong Lah are still some of my favorites but Thrawn is just better than all of them

The model is finished for the B-Wing, I just need to texture it. So, it will be ready either tomorrow evening or the day after, depending on how much free time I can find to work on it.

Yep, I saw that post the other day, and spent around an hour just reading the entries, because they were so interesting. Those pics will help quite a bit.

Okay just an update on progress:

Shqype and DonStamos are working on techs, how are you guys doing?

I'm working on units, but have been sidetracked by trying to find the one error that is making the whole mod crash with 1.61.

Rabbit Alex is doing loading screens and can you also do the movies? That would be really cool.
