Star Wars Mod

Yeah, a parasite that is useful enough to make a lot of suggest that will improve the mod that i like or wish to be like, this mod here is in my wish to be like. Hell yall might like some of my ideas, so that's why i posted my suggestions to see if he will ever add any or so. I help out a lot, and it will pay off too.

You're ideas are usually totally useless. You don't have the slightest idea how to mod and what effort it is. But that's still ok. The problem with you is. You expect the poeple here to work for YOUR pesonal pleasure. They don't and they won't. Modder's mod for their OWN pleasure of it and they may have other things to attend too than just satisfying your libido. You can't expect them to change that just because you don't want to pay for a game(Professionals work for YOUR pleasure but they expect to be paid for it.)

never detailed, never specified, never well thought of
A mod's never finished. There will allways be something to add. And if you want something added faster like you allways do CONTRIBUTE SOMETHING USEFUL OR LEAVE US ALL IN PEACE!!!!!

I understand. But seriously I know why we are slower than other top mods. First of all, although we have 5 members, Rabbit_Alex and DonStamos can't do much any more, And Shqype and I are the only ones who are actually modding. I can't speak for Shqype but my real life is more important to me so I don't get much chance to mod. If you look a FFH they have a 9 person team where everyone is workin hard. We don't have that kind of thing.

School's Out Civmansam. :D Maybe try to recruit some others for a couple of months? Simply someone to do grunt work can make a huge difference. Right now you guys lack ideas (buildings, units, civics, ect) and some polish (pedia, typos, ect). The rest is falling into place nicely. :goodjob:
 
If someone could point me towards where that "How To Mod" page is, I can try. Like I said, I have no idea how to, but as an injured worker, I have time on my hand (Only 1 good one. Get the joke? LOL) right now. I have some software I could use, but if people can show me where to get what I need, I will happily help.

The How to part is simply taking a downloaded mod and seeing what you can change around. Trial and error is how most or all of us learned, at least the XML part.

Downloading GIMP or having Photoshop will help you learn to skin artwork or make buttons. Blender (free) or 3dmax (not free) can make objects.

Check the tutorial section and ask questions in the main C&C. That's what I did at first.
 
Thanks. I already have photoshop. I will go get Blender and start playing around. Hopefully I can come up with something.

I'm working on quite a few mods for CIV 4: The Ancient Mediterranean, CIV Gold 2.0, EEOB (my own Renaissance mod), and Star Wars. Plus I have a job and a girlfriend (another full-time job :p). There's so much I want to do but don't have enough time to do it.
 
That's ok guys you really shouldn't make apologies about the progress just because Darkedone isn't satisfied by it. My girlfriend will stop me from modding too within an hour or two. That's normal life. We're living poeple and no xmlslaves existing to deliver the crack to the junkies.
 
I play Civ4 in spanish language. When i start the Star Wars mod I don't see any caption or text. If I change language to English it works properly.

What's happening? Itsn't possible to play this mod in other languages?

Well I assume if you are on this forum, you can read and write English so it isn't translated. Sorry but I just don't have the time to do all that and translate the mod too.

That DarthVader model is awesome! I had to listen the StarWars Gangsta Rap one more time after I saw it.

I'm not really good for too much but I can playtest, make maps, give ideas, and I've been reading some tutorials. What can I do, or what hasn't been done that would be useful? If you need ideas I can come up with resource lists, civic ideas, whatever...just pm me, or post what you need/want.

Also. I am very impressed by this mod. It's the first true space sim for Civ. That's big. You guys have the hard part done, the skeleton is there, it just needs a little fleshing out.

Are you going to use religion? Perhaps you could just have three? Primitive, Light, and Dark. Perhaps while/bc you have only two true religions you could make them more customizable? Depending on which temples/other city buildings you chose, and what races you have = how your religion acts. So you would have only a Jedi temple, or Sith temple to start...from there many branches could form, but only have the two basic religions.

Also. I saw an interesting idea in another thread. 1 world = 1 tile. I would actually like 1-3 tiles = a world, but it's an interesting concept. It would make it easier to represent whole galaxies. Even on the island setting the scale is out of whack.
 
I admit that i want some things that i like to be put into other peoples mod, but note about this, if my ideas are great, it can improve all mods, i'm more into the musical part of the mod, the gameplay of the mod, and the style of the mod then anything else. However i do suggest things that might improve this mod some way or another. If you think that some of my ideas are useless, then wait till the future that my useless ideas become useful. Now to get back into the topic, I be waiting for your next update, I apperciate that you notice that your modders are kinda slow cause you don't have enough members to speed it up. Since school been out, i think it's time that people start helping out your mod so that you can get a little speed. If you are good at modding, then your future of making games will be bright, just make sure you stay at the part of what mod your making.

Its not a translation problem, he would be okay with the english text. The problem is that you need all text in all formats (even if its english in all of them). It was a 1.61 change (and a bad one imo) that broke just about every mod at one point or another.

To fix this you will need to do 2 things:

1. Change foreign language version to real text (even if it is just english text). Right now the Spanish version of "The Galactic Senate" is "in Spanish". Better to have it be "The Galactic Senate".

2. The CIV4GameText_SW_Techs.xml and CIV4GameText_SW_Misc.xml use diffrent langauges than the other files. They have to be consistent, so it would be easiest to remove the Russian Japonese and Chinese support from those files.

Fortunatly it was just an editor change for me and it started writing everything in the correct format. I couldn't imagine having to go through all that by hand (FfH has over 2000 new text strings).
