Star Wars Mod

I believe for the UU's we are trying to give every civ 2 space UU's and 2 land UU's. As for the Jedi/Sith Council thing, the Rule-of-Two which allowed for only two Sith, was instated only at about 1000BBY. Darth Sidious (Palpatine) almost discarded this rule while he was Dark Lord of the Sith to allow him to create a huge Sith army. The Brotherhood-of-Darkness and the New Sith Empire show the huge amount of Sith that existed just prior to the instation of the Rule-of-Two. I think the Rule-of-Two should be a sub-set religion of the Dark Side. It would allow something like +2 production, +1 happy, and +2/3 gold per city, but you would not be allowed to build more than two Sith. We could make the Sith a national unit with a production limit of 2 while you are using that religion.
 
Wow...I've been busy for a couple of days so didn't get chance to play version 0.65 yet. I missed the controversial post but it looks like Thunderfall had to administer a severe "Beat Down" to someone. :lol: All I can say is mods are free alternatives to vanilla civ. Play them...make RESPECTFUL suggestions for changes...if you don't think the game is getting better, delete & move on. As for what I think of this mod? :goodjob:
 
Idea for a civics.

Galactic Republic - If you have this civic then you have access to a UN type forum.

Empire - Makes others dislike you, but strong military incentives.

Trade Federation - Makes others dislike you, but strong economic incentives.

Independent - A neutral starting place for most civs?

One thing. The beginning of the game feels very lonely...I always felt that with interstellar communications and travel that communication would be open. The beginning of this mod, and the beginning of vanilla, shouldn't feel the same. They may be light years away, but you should know who's out there. Recommendation. Edit so that all civs start with contact.

Also I don't know if anyone got to look at this site, but it's an awesome reference for all sorts of Star Wars ideas. Here's the link for the main page.

Didn´t play your mod till now, but will definitely have a look at it this evening - really looking forward to it. And it better be a good distraction from all the hard work for the WHFB mod, else I got to edit xmls again :cry:

Will post what I come to think of this mod tomorrow.

EDIT: oh, I would suggest some up to date screenshots in the firs two posts!

I can't wait to try this some more this weekend as well. I haven't "played" for fun in a while and it's actually fun!
 
Civmansam, for the next version I say we work on adding new resources, civics, Star Wars buildings, and balance. Then we can move on to some other fun stuff.

It is nice to see someone liked the moons idea. I like the banthas idea as well. But the cows should be "Nerfs." I remember they were in "Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrouds" But I don't know where my copy is. If I find it, I will try to poke around and find a picture (Unless someone else knows where there is one).

Another thing is the "Jet Fighter" is an actual jet. Not sure if there is a way to make that a person or not... Just a thought.

As for Rancors... They could be barbarians.... Just a thought again.

Jail could be a "Sarlac Pit." What better way to "control your people in times of war" than to have the threat of being dropped into a Sarlac pit. I know I would behave. LOL

Unique Units should be the air units more than anything. If I play Rebels, I would rather fly an X-Wing over a Tie Fighter. That also would allow for the Y-Wing Bomner and Tie Bomber.

Shuttlcraft could be the Imperial Shuttle . That would make more sence than the Tie Interceptor... Again. Just a thought (I seem to have a few this morning LOL).

The Death Star could have an extensive build time (Say 100 turns regardless of where it is built) and should be a world wonder that only allows that one city to create Nukes.

There need to be wonders and "Jedi Temples." The inability to distribute the ideas of the force as you want to, makes all the religion aspects of the game pointless. Priest could be Padawans. Unable to fight, but with the ability to spread the concepts. After so many temples are built, a World Wonder of a Jedi or Sith (I know there are supposed to only be two Sith) Council could be built. This would in turn allow the builder access to the most powerful units the game should have.... Jedi Masters and Sith Lords. There should be a way to enable one culture to NOT be allowed to build both wonders. Don't know how. Like I said I am not a modder.

The lack of ability to adjust culture levels makes developing Techs too fast. I had them all well before I finished the game.

I do like where this mod is heading and I hope you find some of my suggestions useful.

I hope this is not at the bottom of the page so the modders also get to read this. That took a while. LOL
Not sure if you got to see these.

Also, the "Soldier should have the ability to attack. They are the first unit with the strength to fight barbarians that are A HELL OF A LOT stronger. While they might not take over a city, the fact that they kill your workers and destray all your improvements puts you back to square one. That is a major pain in the @$$.

Also... The Civs Diplomacy is a little whack. If You play as The Empire (Last Diplomatic Discovery) you should be able to pay for improvements. It does not make much sense that they can't. Just know these are not complaints, but constructive critisism.

Thanks for the ideas. If we are haveing the game start at the near-future (which it looks like it does) then you deffinantly should NOT have the ability to talk with everyone else. That just doesn't make sense to me. You haven't researched hyperdrive or the other large-distance communication devices yet. I think the lonely thing makes sense at the beginning.
 
I'm putting together what I a list of what probably will be in the next version. I don't think it will come too soon, but who knows? It matters on how busy we are and how much we can do.

Hey woodelf, are you going to tweak the leaders? I understand if your to busy or something but it would give it a much more realistic feel. If you are, I thank you.

Like I said I'm not a modder. I'm to old to understand it. LOL I do know how to do Desktop Icons so I figured I'd offer the only thing I could to a Mod I like a lot and play at least three hours a day.

New Rome. Thanks for the response. I think you are right. Contact is probably too much. Maybe you could allow the player to atleast see their whole planet? If a species is capable of spaceflight, then they could see their whole globe, no? Then barbs could be offshore raiders, who appear, every once in awhile. Animals would only be on non starting planets, unless they were a resource? Rancor resource!

Really looking forward to giving it another run this evening.
 
Yes the Gungans are a race and not a civ I still think you should add them kind and besides this one Star wars game (I frgot what it was called) it was like age of Emipres and they had the Gungans as a civ so I can't see why you can't.

But aren't there deep, dark reaches of space that haven't yet been mapped?
 
Shqype. Most definitely. I'm saying just your planet should be revealed. Everything else would be black.

Ex: You're on a large planet. Jupiter size that can hold maybe 5 or 6 cities. You should be able to see the whole planet, or the whole planet should start colonized.

Unless you are looking at a true colonization simulation, versus an evolution scenario. Which would leave the host planet possibly still unexplored. Even still a spaceship and/or basic satellites = total start world self knowledge.

Which leads to all barbarians and animals for unknown space, and black worlds....Man this could be cool.

Are you guys still planning on using the racial spread system from earlier conversations? I thought that was pretty cool.
 
If anyone knows how i can manually fix the multiplayer version that would be cool. I'd hate to ask for a patch, but I don't really want to wait to next version for a fix either heh.

I never play Civ solo. Me and my buds always download the mods and play em together online. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, sure thing. I need to get some feedback on how each Leader behaves in certain circumstances or do some wiki reading. I'm mostly an episodes 4-6 guy and the Zahn/Kevin Anderson books.

Let me do the WH guys first then I'll research these leaders.
