Return of the Sith

Three thousand years before the rise of the Galactic Empire, the Galaxy is engulfed in a vicious war between the GALACTIC REPUBLIC and the evil SITH EMPIRE. An awesome armada under the command of the DARK LORDS OF THE SITH, Darth Venius and Darth Iobos, invaded an unprepared Republic.

The Sith armada has been able to crush any resistance and has left a trail of death and misery in its path. The Republic has lost more than half of its fleet and has suffered great casualties. Many Jedi Knights have fallen in battle and many more have been converted to the dark side of the Force.

After overthrowing his Master, Darth Venius, and declaring himself SITH EMPEROR, the cruel Darth Iobos prepares a final offensive which shall destroy once and for all the Republic and its Jedi protectors and will usher the Galaxy into a new dark age of tyranny and repression....

Welcome to Star Wars - Return of the Sith. This is a Choose Your Own Adventure (CYOA) game set 3,000 before the Original Trilogy.

Stats:

Stats, along with RNG (Random Number Generator), decide if your actions are successful or not.

Strength: The more points you have, the more chances to succeed in a battle you have.
Persuasion: The more points you have, the easier it is to deal with NPCs, recruit companions and gain their loyalty.
Agility: The more points you have, the more chances to escape from a difficult situation you have. It is also helpful in battle.
Computers: The more points you have, the more chances of successfully hacking computer panels you have.
Security: The more points you have, the more chances of successfully breaking into a place you have.
Intelligence: The more points you have, the more you can spend on stats during level ups.

Level Up:

The stats can be increased with successes or by killing enemies. For each quest/enemy you kill, you will get XP. When you get the XP required to level up, you will be able to spend 2 points to level up your stats. Extra points for you to use to level up come from your Intelligence, which gives you number/2. For example, if you have 2 Intelligence you have 1 bonus point to use. As such you have a total of 3 points to use in the stats.

Life Points:

Life Points (LP) is the life of you character. If in combat you lose all your LP, you die. You can heal with medpacks.

Combat:

Its simple: When you attack it is your strength * 2 + weapon + agility/2 + RNG VS enemy's strength * 2 + armor + agility/2 + RNG. When you defend it is the reverse. If your attack number is higher than the enemy's defense, the subtract is subtracted from his LP. If his defense is higher, your attack has no effect at all.

Force Powers:

Characters who are Force Sensitive can use Force Powers. When they get enough XP to level up, they get 2 points which they can use to level up Force Powers.

Force Heal: Can heal you or companion. Level * 10 = LP points restored. Level 3 means that 30 LP are restored, to use an example. Costs 18 FPP.
Force Push: Can be used instead of weapon. Level * 5 = damage. Costs 20 FPP.
Force Lighting: Can be used instead of weapon. Level * 8 = damage. Costs 26 FPP.
Force Shield: Can be used to reinforce defense. Level * 5 = defense. Costs 24 FPP.

Force Powers Points:

FPP (Force Powers Points) indicate how much you and your companions can use the Force each turn.

Companions:

During your journey, you shall be joined by some companions. Each one has his own story and abilities which you can use to complete tasks.

Light Side - Dark Side

Depending on your choices, your character becomes aligned with the light side or the dark side of the Force. This will affect not only yourself, but also your companions and how they view you and your own quest. Some characters may also start out as Grey because they are morally ambiguous or have not decided yet which path to follow.

Your name is Arthurn Starkiller. You are a pazaak player; a gambler and drinker. You owe a lot of money to Vox the Hutt and you must find a way to repay him.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turn 1:

You walk in the streets of Nar Shaddaa. You can hear the sound of music from nearby clubs and listen to people chatting. You see friends and lovers walking together, beggars waiting for someone to spare something for them and thugs looking menacingly at those who walk in the streets.

You do not have many friends: the ones you have are fellow Pazaak players or drunkards. As for girlfriends, your last one abandoned you after stealing your spaceship. You continue walking and try not to think about her. You have more important problems to solve right now anyway.

You sigh. "What am I going to do? How the hell will I find the 10,000 credits I need to repay my debt to Vox the Hutt?"

You had gambled a lot of money in the casino of Vox the Hutt in Pazaak games and not only you lost all you money, but you also went into debt. Now, if you do not find a way to repay Vox the Hutt, you will be a dead man. He is vicious and his bounty hunters hunt down those who do not pay him.

As you walk in a dark alley, away from the most busy streets, in order to have a peace of mind and think of your next step, suddenly you hear a scream. As you walk forward, you see two Rodians pointing their blasters at a lone woman. The woman is crying and has a terrified look on her face. You look at her and the two thugs and after a moment of silence you continue walking.

"Hey!", one of the Rodians says, pointing his blaster at you. "What are you doing here?"

Option A: Tell him that you are just walking by and that you will not intervene.
Option B: Tell him that if he angers you, he will end up dead.
Option C: Demand that he lets the woman go.

The Rodians are equipped with blaster rifles, wear jacket and have LP of 40.

For this turn you can also allocate 5 points in your stats.

Option C but get in a cheap shot
1 in strength, 4 in int

This is a prime opportunity to get a new girlfriend.

Option B
5 Points into Strength

If we take INT now, we get more STR later.

The 5 points are used to level up strength.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turn 2:

You were going to tell them that you were just passing by when you saw how terrified the woman looked and how she was crying. You could not just abandon her to her fate. Although you are certainly not a hero, you are not a cruel person either.

"Let the woman go unless you want to face me!" (Option C - + Light Side alignment)

The Rodian laughs

"You've got to be kidding me!"

He and his comrade begin shooting at you, but you dodge the enemy fire and take cover behind a bin. 'Garbage saved my life', you think. Thus a firefight begins between you and the two thugs.

You and the Rodians exchange countless blaster shots, but you are a better rifleman than they are. You manage to shoot one in the head, instantly killing him, and the other twice on the chest, causing him to collapse and to die soon after due to blood lose. You yourself are lightly injured (-6 LP) but you've gained lots of experience (+200 XP).

Before you can ask the woman if she is alright, she runs away screaming and yelling. You sigh and continue walking. You have to think a way to repay Vox the Hutt and you cannot worry about such trivial issues. As you walk in the dark alleys of Nar Shaddaa, a shadowy figure appears before you. He is a hooded man who wears a black cloak. You ignore him and walk forward, but suddenly he ignites a red lightsaber and strikes at you.

But before his lightsaber can hit you, another lightsaber, this time a blue one, ignites and cuts off the hand of the attacker. You turn around and see a middle-aged bearded man with short black hair wearing a brown robe. With a swift move, the middle-aged man strikes again and stabs the chest of the attacker, killing him.

"Who are you--"

He interrupts you.

"I have no time to explain. The Sith are coming. We must leave!"

Considering the fact that a Sith just attacked you and attempted to take your life, you have no reason not to trust him. You both run as fast as you can.

"Why are they attacking me? Are you a Jedi?", you ask as you run.

"Shut up and run. I will tell you the story of my whole life when we are not being chased by tens of Sith assassins and even more Sith commandos."

You finally reach an abandoned apartment and break into it. The place is so dark you can barely see where you are walking and where the middle-aged man is.

"This looks like a good place to hide.", your say.

"Indeed."

Suddenly, you hear a terrifying sound. Maybe this apartment is not abandoned. You point your blaster at the shadows and carefully walk deeper into the apartment. You see a little girl. Seeing you, she begins crying.

Option A: Ask her where he parents are and why she is crying.
Option B: Hit her to make her stop crying. She makes too much noise and the Sith may notice that.
Option C: The Sith will hear the voice and send troops to search the place. You decide to run away and leave the girl behind.

Option C.

Turn 3:

You approach the girl and ask her, "Where are your parents? Why are you crying?" (Option A - + Light Side alignment)

"My parents were murdered by gangsters!", the girl cries. "They were saying something about money being owed to Vox the Hutt. Since then I've been alone in this apartment."

You sigh. Not only because of how sad the girl's story is, but also because you are in a similar situation as her parents were. 'Lets hope I will be luckier than them.', you think.

Suddenly, three Sith commandos wearing silver helmet and armor which covers all of their body, charge into the room and begin firing at you. With a swift move, the middle-aged man ignites his lightsaber and deflects the enemy fire. He then proceeds to charge forward, dodging the blaster fire, and to quickly hack down all three enemies. Two more commandos enter the room but the man force pushes them away. Another commando enters the room and throws a plasma grenade.

"Run!", the man suddenly says. You attempt grab the young girl by the hand in order to get her out but the explosion shakes the entire room and the apartment collapses. The girl falls on the ground and is seriously injured. Before you can help her, the man grabs you and gets you out of the apartment. You are able to get out alive; the young girl not.

"There is no time for you to feel sad or angry", the man said. "We must run as fast as we can. I may have been able to kill a few Sith troops but even more are on our way and I cannot possibly defeat all of them."

Although you are furious that you were not able to save the girl, you understand that what the man says makes sense and run along with him. You finally reach another abandoned building; an old store. Thankfully, this building is truly abandoned.

"So, who are you?", you ask the man. "And why do the Sith hunt me down?"

The man smiles. "My name is Alexios Doukas. You asked me if I am a Jedi. Well, lets just say that I have a complicated relation with the Jedi Order. I was exiled as I was deemed a bit too aggressive and not calm enough. But I could not abandon the Jedi to their fate and I have now returned from exile to help them fight the Sith. As for why they hunt you, that is because you have a very strong connection to the Force."

"What?!"

You are shocked. Is it possible that you can become a Jedi?

"After I returned from exile, I came here to visit some old friends who could help me in my fight against the Sith. The Sith somehow managed to find this out and sent troops to hunt me down. The Sith assassins sensed your strong connection in the Force and thought that you were me. I too sensed your connection to the Force that's how I found you."

"Now what?", you ask.

"We must find a way out of this planet as fast as we can or the Sith will find us sooner or later. In order to do that, we must work together and cooperate." (+ Companion - Alexios Doukas joins you)

Option A: Break into Vox's docking platform to steal a ship. (Needs Security - if you fail, you will be noticed and have to fight your way out)
Option B: Persuade someone in a Cantina to take you in his ship. (Needs Persuasion - if you choose this choice, then also choose a second one in case this fails)
Option C: Fight your way into Merchant Guild's docking platform and steal one of their ships (Needs high strength).
