Star Wars: The Mod Strikes Back

Well Chris, that was pretty good, but I made some changes. Most notable:

  • Tatooine was moved to the Rebel section. They had a military base on Anchorhead, and of course, Luke Skywalker came from Tatooine. It was stupid to have Tatooine in the Republic list, since 1/4 of Edpisode 1 complained that the Republic had no presence there, and that's why Anakin was a slave

  • I moved Muunilinst from the Empire list to the CIS list. Why? Only because it was a major world of the CIS, and one of the founding members (that dude with the long pink head from episode 2) lived there.

  • I added Polis Massa to the Rebel list, since that's where the rebellion started, (in Episode 3).

  • I added Korriban to the Empire's list, because the Emperor got alot of his powers finetuned there.

  • I added Mechis III to the CIS list since I loved the book it came from so much, :p

  • I changed "K"rix Madine to "C"rix Madine.

  • I gave correct military and scientific leaders to the Rebels, the Republic and the CIS, since they were mostly political leaders, who were mainly there just to get $, and never led troops or invented anything, ;)

Oh, and a SS victory wouldn't be good for this mod. I was thinking maybe the Death Star, and before it's completed you can send spies (Bothans!!!) to sabotage it, or a military force to destory parts of it (like in episodes 4 and 6).
1. Yeah, Tatooine might be better for the Rebels. I just stuck it with the Republic, because I wanted it in there somewhere and Tatooine didn't have a strong affiliation with any particular civ out of the 4 we have.

2. Muunilist is just as important to the Empire as it is to the Separatists. It's true that the IGBC and San Hill were from there, but it is also considered the economic capital of the Empire.

3. I was split on where to put Polis Massa, the Rebels are fine.

4. Ok, Korriban can go in for the Empire.

5. Never heard of Mechis III, but I'm guilty of putting Thule in for the Seps, because I liked the 'Clone Wars' GC game so much. :)

6. Sorry for the mispelling, I'm sure I've probably messed up some other names in there as well.

It sounds like people would rather not have the SS victory. Odin, I don't think the Death Star would work, because I think it would be odd to automatically win the game when you built the Death Star considering it is defeatable and we couldn't use it as a unit. Now I may have to change Outbound Flight Project's effects.

@Conquer_dude - Right now, we only have a galaxy map. Although maps of other places would be nice. Especially Endor, since there is going to be a Battle of Endor scenario. :)

Anyone have any opinions on the building list?

I can definantly make an endor map. Expect it to be done around tomorow maybe. What size should it be? Huge, large, standard, small, tiny, cramped etc..? And, what about a hoth map?

For the buildings - is the death star a great wonder?

About 80x80 Small size should be good for the Endor map. I'd prefer if there were an ocean of space around the planet so we can have room for the space battle. A hoth map would also be nice.

The Death Star Project is a great wonder that allows you to build nuclear weapons kinda like the Manhattan Project in regular civ3. Nukes are going to be represented by the Death Star superlaser.

EDIT: Didn't see you post Olorin. :o

Having the death star used up in the process!? That's not like the movie. :wow: I agree with Olorin, the death star should not be used up.

I will make the Endor map 80x80 ASAP.

The Death Star isn't going to be used up. The Death Star itself isn't a nuke, it works like the Nuclear Submarine, where you can load up a superlaser unit onto the Death Star and bombard with that. The superlaser units work like tactical nukes. The Death Star will also come with its own high bombard rating for attacking capital ships and bombarding planets.

EDIT: I think we have 4 speeder bike units that have been made

So:

Death Star Project spawns beam energy (a.k.a. nuke) periodically.

Then that energy gets shipped to the Death Star unit.

Then that Death Star unit goes around having fun

EDIT: Too bad we can't actually obilterate planets.

BTW, is the galatic map we have made made up of 1 tile planets or 4 tile planets?

Alright. I just kinda fooled around and I will put more work into this Endor map of course, but this was just a start. I didn't quite know what to put in it besides forest, pine forest, coast, hills, grassland and mountains.

Well, Chris wanted to rim the map with water, so we could have the space battle.

I think, if we are serious about this scenario, I will try and make some bunker and landing platform city graphics for the Imperials. But it will be a while. We have a mod to finish first.

@Jobiwan: That model was EXCELLENT! It will save me a bunch of time. Thanks!

If i knew how to make city graphics I would. And, I will rim the map with water, insantly.

Oughtn't pine forest cluster in the polar, presumably colder, parts of the thing?
I don't quite understand what you are trying to say?

On your map, you have pine and deciduous forests distributed seemingly at random. Since the polar areas of the moon presumably are colder than the equatorial regions, and pine favours colder climes than most deciduous trees, one'd expct the pine forests to be more common around the poles and less common around the equator.

Yeah, but if you watch the movie its scattered all over the place like that one above is.

@Olorin - It's the map Jobiwan made a while back, it's mostly 1 tile planets but some of the important are 4 tiles.

Most of Endor is covered with Pine Forest so it shouldn't just be confined to higher latitudes, but over most of the world.

I would still like to see more space around the planet. Almost half of the map should be space. I also think the planet should be less rectangular and more rounder. Another way is to make the map only show a section of the moon taking up the right half of the map and have the left half be space. I might need a picture to show how this would work.

EDIT: Here's what I meant. I would make it one of these two ways.

I'll do it the second way, and I'll put more pine forest in it.

And what about Dagobah, do you guys have a map of that?

Preview of Endor so far: How is it going?
