Star Wars: The Mod Strikes Back

EDIT: do not try to play the movie in game, it is distorted, silly me, i didnt check it in game, i need to resize it.

Hey guys! I dunno if you guys have checked out the Unit Graphics thread for the mod, but I posted a new unit preview...I'm definitely back in action, and I'd just thought I'd keep you guys posted. Sorry for my lengthy absence, but I should be back for good now. I've got a tonnnnn of models that I can mess with, so hopefully I'll be cranking them out relatively soon.

I did want to ask, however, what the demand was for units such as landing platforms and shield generators, namely the DS2 shield generator and the Endor platform. I've also got a tibanna gas platform model that we might be able to use in some way. Any ideas?

I'll keep the models for those around, especially for an Endor scenario. It'd be appropriate to have the right shield generator and platform for that.

Just as a side note, but does anyone know of a freeware .obj viewer/exporter that I could find?

Bryce 5.01 can be found very cheap. Fry's had it for 29.00 a while ago. It is not a viewer/exporter. It is the tool Wyrmshadow any many others (including me) use to make our units. But, it also has the ability to load nearly a dozen different formats and to save these imported meshes in any format it can import from.
If you buy it for just file converstion, it is still well worth it.... plus look at Wyrm's units... they're amongst the best available.

I'll keep Bryce in mind. I actually snagged a friend's copy of Maya today just for conversion purposes, so that should work for now. If I ever intend to try and start modelling myself, or just want a change in scenery, I might consider investing in a copy of Bryce. :D

im investing with poser, that program is sooo easy to animate in!!!

if your interested in creating models, check out the new tutorial for ppmodeler in the tutorials section

in honor of my 500th post, i finished the Star Wars classic intro movie with the scrolling text.
Here's the program you need to download to view it from your desktop without opening up CIV3. Its called RadVideo Tools

Here is the intro: SW Intro Movie (16mb)

If you just want a program to convert obj to 3DS for OpenFX, just use ppmodeler. It's free, and extremely easy to converty models with.

Awesome. That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks, Odin :goodjob:

you can also use ppmodeler to create models if thats what your interested in.
Go to the library in my sig and look for a ppmodeler tutorial

hello

*drops in on everything*

well i went through the past several pages, and it looks like you guys have been doing excellent! :goodjob: :goodjob:

i havent logged on in . . . months  *stupid distractions of the real world*

buuuuut if theres any non-unit-making work needing to be done then . .

im back! :)

1. did we ever figure out the tech tree entirely?

2. and i read somewhere about a galaxy-map. does anyone have a preview of it?

3. i had an idea for the Rebel Commando- couldnt someone (with unit-editing skills) just take either an infantry or marine and add laser shots instead, since Rebel Commandos look so . . regular-military-looking.

and i very much appreciate the mention in the credits
though i think i had better try to re-earn it considering the fact i have been completely gone for the better part of 3+ months. :shake:

again:    sorry!
