State of the Empire (Turn Update)

His thread is stickied Instructions for the President ... however your suggestions should really go through Domestic's Thread ...
That thread is for instructions not discussion.
Our Pres said:
Ok - I don't want this to get too cluttered with discussion - but even though I may have the final say - I'd still like to see the preferences of each Minister clearly stated here.
You can find that in post 26. :smug: You are wrong about the Domestic part. MM is for the President to be doing. Here is what the Pres is meant to be doing according to the constitution. The bit in bold is what we are refering to.
The M.I.A. Constitution said:
The President shall be the designated player; meaning he plays the save. When playing the save he has the responsibility to carry out the decisions of other leaders. He is responsible for workers, city management, and powers and responsibilities not specified to other leaders. This position shall be elected every term.
So this is relevant for the President.

fe3333au said:
OK so then you as Def Min should post 'your orders' on the Instructions Thread :p and then we keep this just for reports ;)
Then where can we discuss things with the Pres? I really do not see this thread t be needed if it is just for posting pictures, becasue that is what the save infomation thread was for. If he did not like the name he could have ask for the name to be changed. I really think this thread is also for discussion with the Pres.

Its a little more than just a gallery for pictures ... Mr Prez :wavey: ... can you clarify

I thought this order ...

1. discussions occur at Minister or other initiated threads
2. Ministers Post their orders on the Instructions
3. You then 'choose' from all the advice, which could be conflicting at times eg my constant nagging about navy ... and wait until embassies (I will certainly lobby the Foreign Misister at the time)

Anyway I won't clutter this anymore ... and await your thoughts :salute:

Ok – here’s my take on it:

I interpreted the “Save Information” thread as a place for anyone to post things – and was looking to make it easy for people to reference what has happened throughout my term as president – by keeping it consolidated in one place, with minimal discussion.

Now looking back, I can see that just using the Save Info thread may have been easier – but such is the benefit of hindsight.

To keep things consolidated for ease of reference, I intended to finish out my term using this thread. (If I ever hold this office again, I’ll probably go ahead and use the Save Info thread).

Regarding discussion in this thread: Even though I am responsible for workers and city management – these are integrally linked with the Domestic and Defense departments, and I personally would prefer to keep information and discussion consolidated as much as possible – hopefully this will lend itself to a more coherent strategy for the team? I can see that it might be desirable once our Empire is larger, we may want a thread just for citizen placement and worker moves – but at this point, it’s so critical that our worker and citizen strategy be linked to our domestic strategy (ie getting setteler, worker, and military factories up and running) – I think a separate thread would be counter-productive at this point.

I did post this early on in this thread (post #9)
Everyone should feel free to respond to the "State of the Empire" thread with questions or requests for more info about what's presented here... but discussion of what to do should be kept to the ministry threads!

I’m open to being wrong! But until then – lets keep discussion to the Domestic, Military, & Foreign threads.
Instructions in the instruction thread
My turn updates and any comments/questions on that here in this thread.

Thanks!

State of the Empire
Presidential Update

Turn: 29
Year: 2640 BC

Friends, Greeks, Fellow MIAers… the state of our Empire is: Diplomatic!

Headlines:
Contact with Team KISS! Celtic warrior on the Ivory Coast.

Foreign Ministry struggles to cope with Doughnut and KISS diplomatic relationships.

Team KISS “weather spy” caught red handed. Secret communiqué to headquarters read “The weather is quite nice in this part of the world.”

Domestic Summary:

We have 3 cities, 10 gold, and 35 culture.

We are set at 90% science, 10% Luxury, and 0% Economy – for a Net gain of 0 gold per turn.

*Lux slider increased due to pop growth next turn in Athens.

We are currently building:
Athens: Curragh (done next turn). *Growth next turn
Black Hole: Worker (done in 4 turns) *Growth last turn
Heron: Curragh (done in 5 turns)

Our cities are working 8 tiles – 3 of which are unimproved.
Athens switched working from the Wheat to the Ivory. Growth will still happen next turn – but the Curragh will be finished one turn sooner also.

We have two workers:
Worker – Rambuchan: Mining the BG east of Athens. ETA: 2 turns
Worker - Jarom: Mining the BG west of Athens. ETA: 4 turns

Research: Continued work on the Wheel. Est time: 5 turns

Military Summary:

We have 3 military units – all warriors

We have explored 209 tiles – 6.5% of the world.
85.2% of our exploration has been on land – the rest is coastal.

We have 2 Assyrian warriors lurking in the north. Our warrior can not see them
Military advisor warns of Barbarians near Black Hole.

Our Western warrior is exploring along the Ivory Coast – a bit inland – he has encountered a Celtic (KISS) Warrior.

We have an Iroquois (Doughnut) Curragh off the coast of Athens.

Battles:
None

Current Plans in Motion:

Unless otherwise instructed…
I plan to have our new Athenian citizen work the wheat tile.
I plan to build a warrior – then a settler in Athens.
I plan to head north with our Northern Warrior to the Northern Mountain.
I plan to continue exploring the Ivory Coast with our Western Warrior – leaving the KISS/celt warrior to move further into our territory.
I plan to leave our 3rd warrior in Black Hole for Military Police duties until the worker is completed – or we get a road connected.

Request for Action:
Ministers! Please give me your orders for the next turn in the “Instructions for the President” thread!

Foreign Ministry: Will the issue of the Warrior nearing our lands be dealt with in negotiation?

Domestic Ministry: Are we still planning on running a settler-warrior factory in Athens? Or do we need Hoplites sooner? (Same question as last time – please post instructions in the instructions thread)
Also: I have the 2nd citizen in Black Hole working the forest – to complete the worker sooner. Comments?

Defense Ministry: What directions for our current warriors?
Please advise domestic on settler-warrior factory decision. (Same question as last time – please post instructions in the instructions thread)
Anything else I’ve missed?

Until next time,
I remain your faithful servant,

President General W

Turn: 30
Year: 2600 BC

Friends, Greeks, Fellow MIAers… the state of our Empire is: Exploring!

Headlines:
Incense and Spices Discovered in the North.

Major Deal Negotiated with Celts(KISS). KISS finalization expected next turn.

First Curragh, “The Snarling Narwhal” Sets Sail for the Unknown East!

Domestic Summary:

We have 3 cities, 10 gold, and 39 culture.

We are set at 90% science, 10% Luxury, and 0% Economy – for a Net gain of 0 gold per turn.

We are currently building:
Athens: Warrior (done in 3 turns). *Growth last turn
Black Hole: Worker (done in 4 turns)
Heron: Curragh (done in 5 turns)

Note: I am SO STUPID! Arg. I totally spaced on switching our new Athens citizen from the (auto placed) elephant to the forest. This speeds us toward getting the Wheel, but I’m afraid I’ve thrown off our Athens plans again. This is essentially my ONE job, and I’ve blown it twice now in the same city. I don’t want to be over-dramatic, but I’ll gladly step down to allow someone with more time/attention to invest in our turns as president. I am very sorry.

Our cities are working 9 tiles – 3 of which are unimproved.

We have two workers:
Worker – Rambuchan: Mining the BG east of Athens. Finished this turn, can move next turn.
Worker - Jarom: Mining the BG west of Athens. ETA: 3 turns

Research: Continued work on the Wheel. Est time: 3 turns

Military Summary:

We have 4 military units:
3 Warriors
1 Curragh

We have explored 216 tiles – 6.8% of the world.
85.5% of our exploration has been on land – the rest is coastal.

We have 2 Assyrian warriors lurking in the north. Our warrior can not see them
Military advisor warns of Barbarians near Black Hole.

Our Warrior-Ligurian Reaper is exploring along the Ivory Coast – a bit inland – he has encountered a Celtic (KISS) Warrior – the KISS warrior apparently followed us, instead of moving towards are cities.
This warrior discovered a supply of incense!

Our Warrior-Assyrian Bane has moved onto a mountain, and revealed much terrain. Most notably:
A supply of Spices!
A goody hut!

We have an Iroquois (Doughnut) Curragh off the coast of Athens.
We have a Celt (KISS) warrior near our Warrior-Ligurian Reaper

Battles:
None

Current Plans in Motion:

Unless otherwise instructed…
I plan to move our Athenian Citizen to the Forest tile like he was supposed to.
I plan to build a warrior – then a settler in Athens.
I plan to try poping the hut with our Warrior-Assyrian Bane.
I plan to move onto the hill to the west with our Warrior–Ligurian Reaper
I plan to leave our 3rd warrior in Black Hole for Military Police duties until the worker is completed – or we get a road connected.

Request for Action:
Ministers! Please give me your orders for the next turn in the “Instructions for the President” thread!

Foreign Ministry: Any orders for the Doughnuts?
(hopefully the "accept-send" I did was ok. turn was played before your post Fe)

Domestic Ministry: How will we deal with my mistake on the Athenian Citizen? (again, so so sorry) I've posted some comments on dealing with this in the domestic thread.
Should Worker-Rambuchan begin roading to Black Hole next turn?

Defense Ministry: Should we pop that northern Hut with Warrior-Assyrian Bane?
Is the move to the hill the best one for Warrior-Ligurian Reaper?

Anything else I’ve missed?

Until next time,

Turn: 31

Friends, Greeks, Fellow MIAers… the state of our Empire is: Busy!

Headlines:
Sarmatian Warriors Swarm in the North! Assyrian Bane division stands ready to defend.

Scientists Rejoice over Acquisition of the Secrets of Warrior Code and Ceremonial Burial. Deal with KISS comes through.

Citizens Across the Empire Celebrate the Raising of the Luxury Rate!

Domestic Summary:

We have 3 cities, 11 gold, and 41 culture.

We are set at 80% science, 20% Luxury, and 0% Economy – for a Net gain of 1 gold per turn.
(KISS income of 1 gold per turn)
* I knew we would need to raise Lux to 20% to control populace in Athens when it grows without a warrior there for MP duties… so I opened the domestic window – and discovered that (because we’re no longer working the ivory tile) we’ll get the wheel in 3 turns at 80 or 90%. Sending the extra 10% to treasury only netted us 2 extra gpt – while going 20% Lux allows me to get our 3rd warrior off MP duty and out exploring. So I went with raising in the Lux rate a little early. Discussion?

We are currently building:
Athens: Settler (done in 6 turns).
Black Hole: Worker (done in 2 turns)
Heron: Curragh (done in 3 turns)

Our cities are working 9 tiles – 3 of which are unimproved.
Citizens are working these tiles:
Athens: R.I. Wheat / R. I. Cow / M. Bonus Grassland
Black Hole: Wheat / Forest
Heron: Bonus Grassland (about to be mined by Rambuchan)

We have two workers:
Worker - Jarom: Moved into position to begin roading desert on way to Black Hole
Worker – Rambuchan: Mining the BG west of Athens. ETA: 2 turns

Research: Continued work on the Wheel. Est time: 3 turns

Military Summary:

We have 4 military units:
3 Warriors:
Assyrian Bane – Veteran
Ligurian Reapers – Regular
TBA – Regular
1 Curragh:
The Snarling Narwhal

Known Enemies:
We are surrounded by 3 Sarmation warriors in the north. They were poped from the hut.
We have 2 Assyrian warriors lurking in the north. Our warrior can not see them.
Military advisor warns of Barbarians near Black Hole.
Celt (KISS) warrior is lurking along our Ivory Coast
Iroquois (D’nut) Curragh is sailing west off the coast of Heron.

Battles:
None

Exploration Update:

We have explored 245 tiles – 7.7% of the world.
84.1% of our exploration has been on land – the rest is coastal.

Our Warrior-Ligurian Reaper has discovered another Hut along the Ivory Coast – and more Ivory!

Current Plans in Motion:

Unless otherwise instructed…
I plan to keep all cities building and working tiles as they currently are.
I plan to head east to the hill with our TBA Warrior from Black Hole.
I plan to try poping the hut with our Warrior-Ligurian Reapers along the Ivory Coast.
I plan to heal (if wounded) with our Warrior-Assyrian Bane

Request for Action:
Ministers! Please give me your orders for the next turn in the “Instructions for the President” thread!

Foreign Ministry: Any orders for the Doughnuts?
Keep easterly heading with the Curragh?

Domestic Ministry: What do you think of the 20% Luxury plan? Should I send the Black Hole Warrior back and get the 2 gpt while I can (before Athens grows?)
What should worker-Rambuchan do when done mining the BG between Athens and Heron?

Defense Ministry: Should we pop that Ivory Coast Hut with Warrior-Ligurian Reapers?

We are set at 80% science, 20% Luxury, and 0% Economy – for a Net gain of 1 gold per turn.

We have explored 290 tiles – 9.1% of the world.
81% of our exploration has been on land – the rest is coastal and oceanic.

A few of you have noticed and commented on the current construction work going on in the MIA Acropolis in Athens…

I am pleased to announce that the majority of the work is now completed!

Behold – The renovated MIA Acropolis and surrounding grounds in all their splendor:

greatacropolis1ps.jpg

*Features of note:
In the foreground you will notice a statue to our great Foreign Minister – who made first contact and the first deals with 2 foreign nations

Nearby are monuments to the first 2 foreign units our nation encountered.

Also, to the West of the Acropolis you will see the "Walk of Presidents" where the banner our first President – the Great Classical Hero proudly waves… also the banner of yours truly.

Those with keen eyes may notice the National Heroes Monument on a quiet forested hill overlooking the ocean.

Obviously, there's still work to be done (esp. on the roof)…. But hopefully you all like how it's coming!

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

I'm glad the weather is so agreeable here... I think we can leave the roof for the time being.

As to the Walk Of Presidents - I noticed that there isn't much room for many others over the coming eons. Were you planning on Usurping a few more terms? ;)

I like it ...

However ... I'd like a shimmy of naked nubiles to daily annoint the roughness of my statues visage with extra extra pure virgin olive oil ... can this be organised?

OT- Well done General_W  ... I take it that in C3C terms, this is our version of Palace View
