Status and "To Do" List

Oh that's great so let's say i don't like the Romanian civ, i just take it out and i have civ gold with no Romania?

Yes Exactly!

But lets say you find another Civ that isn't in the Civ Gold list and you wanted to through it into your mix... You could just drag it into the Same folder and VOILA! you now got that civ added in. (IT MUST BE ALSO PROGRAMMED INTO THE PLUG AND PLAY FORMAT) and trust me in the next couple months this will be the way to do things.

Jerrymander: Modularization requires that one include a local Schema in each modules so if one had the proper read code in a specially moded and compiled DLL it could read new XML elements out of one particular module without having to modify any of the other modules.

Fortunatly for your particular request its even easier, few people realize that Civ4 vanilla has all the code and xml tags nessary to implement Unique Buildings, it was just not utilized in vanilla.

Their are a number of other xml tags that were never used by Firaxis but prove useful for several mods.

Let's say i like the polish mod better then the polish mod in civ 4, so i just do the same thing?

This would be correct... But I must stress... that each of the two polish civ's must be in the plug and play format.

The changing of these civ's to Plug and play Format takes about 1 hour and the process is going well as I convert each of the CIV GOLD 3.0 civ's. But realize I have yet to attempt any other civ's in any other mods so most likely it will take the release of CIV GOLD 4.0 + The plug and play format to catch on like wild fire. This will probally be the case as we get going.

Of course not! If you want to volunteer to do this with 4.0 when it's complete, you're welcome to pitch in. :D

My understanding is that this sort of thing may be easier with "Beyond the Sword." If so, then we'll probably add it at that time.

In that case I will continue on with my attempts on the current Gold build and see if I can get it up and running for the rest of Civs in there, if so I would probably be more than happy to volunteer, this was just my first time ever working with XML so I'd like to get the practice before I make a formal commitment.
My only request would end up being information on which ethnicities to use for which Civs, but the Civlopedia entries would probably solve that for me simply enough.
Currently I have the basic Warlords Civs skinned and played my first game with it as Korea, Mali and India were computer controlled and I have made it through most of the game (I am currently increasing my armament for a final push into a domination victory). There havn't been any bugs or hiccups yet so it all seems good.
I can't take credit for anything other than leg-work (or perhaps finger-work?) I used Rabbit's code as I don't know enough yet to write my own.
My ultimate goal is to skin all the Civs under Rabbit's Ethnically Diverse mod and then double back and add assorted other units (I recently came across the wonderful Mongolian mounted units and would enjoy having more than just the Keshiks, even if it is just for models.) But I will keep track of who's stuff I use and be, as I said, more than willing to help out with Gold 4 afterwards if I can get my head fully wrapped around the codes.

@Purplexus:This is my question: by the way tou talked in #141, if somebody wants, can put together Amra's mod and yours all together, as one single mod?
(Both mods are wonderful work, CIV Gold 3.0 and Amra's, I just don't like changing mod everytime I want to play)
Sorry for (as somebody said once) my "poor English".

Actually you will be able to do exactly that. Amra's Mod I am working on at the same time as CIV GOLD. Because a lot of the data is the exact same. so it become a double whammy to make it plug and play for both. And because both mods will be in plug and play form... then can merge that easy...

So seeing the new screenshots from Beyond The Sword apparently we are getting flavoured units now anyway.
Which is pretty kick ass.
But if I feel I can get the XML down well enough I will probably look to join in on future endeavours if I can work it into my schedule.

Well, I have a huge need right now to help with Units and unit tags. The job is pretty straightforward and doesn't require much XML knowledge. You could probably get it done in a few of hours.

Plus you'd get huge input into the UUs.

@purplexus: Did you mean CIV GOLD 3.0 or the new CIV GOLD 4.0? If 3.0 version, could you please explain a little more about how doing this?i play CIV4W but I,m not a good computer user, sorry to bother, I do thanks you a lot!

Rebakan... Plug and Play is Plug and Play.. It doesn't matter if it is CIV GOLD 3.0 or 4.0 so I am not sure as to what you are asking me? If you want to add a civ or subtract a CIV... you just drag them in or out. (As long as they are in the plug and play format that is)

If possible, I would like the adjustment to the Polynesians where Hawaiians are their own civ.

The Hawaiians were a tremendously significant culture to the British, Americans, Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, Filipinos, Portugese, other Polynesians and many other cultures in their ties with the Pacific. Hawaiʻi became a major trade station between the western and eastern hemisphere and a melting pot of race and culture from all over the world.

Due to it's key location in the Pacific, the United States of America overthew the Hawaiian Monarcy in 1893, created the Republic of Hawaii in 1894, and officially annexed Hawaiʻi as a US territory in 1898. The bombing of Pearl Harbor in Hawaiʻi on December 7, 1941 by the Japanese is what threw the US into WWII. Hawaiʻi became a state in 1959. With the overthrow, tourism and the infusion of world cultures in Hawaiʻi, Hawaiians as a race has become diluted, but recent resurgences of culture, music, language, and political issues concerning native Hawaiian rights have brought Hawaiians back into recognition as a race with a unique culture and history.

To make Liliʻuokalani, Victoria would be a great starting base. They have very similar styles. As for colors of the crown and sash, I would go with red for the crown and yellow for the sash. For the dress, maroon or dark brown would work.

I can see a version of Kamehameha has already been made, but if he were wearing a feather cloak (perhaps taken from a different leaderhead, that would make it even better.

King Kamehameha's ceremonial feather cape. Hawaiians caught a lot of birds to make this. The creators caught the birds using tree sap on a branch, plucked a few feathers, then set the birds free.

Wow, and in my search for great pictures of Kamehameha, I found this thread:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/printthread.php?t=41995&pp=20

Cities for Hawaiʻi:
Honolulu
Waikiki
ʻAiea
Hauʻula
Lāʻie
Kahuku
Wahiawā
Hilo
Kona
Wailuku
Līhuʻe
ʻEwa
Haleʻiwa
Kāneʻohe
Waimānalo
Nānākuli
Hana

These are not in any particular order. Honolulu is the capital however. If you need more cities, I can provide more. Mahalo (Thank you).

For the Hawaiians, the Unique Unit would be Nā Koa, or the spearmen. (Nā means "the" plural, Koa means warrior)

Here is more on Hawaiian weaponry as observed by Captain Cook and other westerners.

The ancient Unique Building would be a heiau or Hawaiian temple. It was probably the most prominent and lasting structures Hawaiians built before western contact.

A more modern structure for the Hawaiians would be the Iolani Palace.

WingedPaladin,

This is something for us to consider in future versions, but it is unlikely to change for the time-being. While the Hawai'ians are distinct (as are, say, Cook Islanders), the truth is that in order to represent as diverse a population as possible in CIV Gold, we had to make some groupings.

@purplexus: please, don't be angry with me... What I was trying to say is, instead of having CIV GOLD 3.0 and Amra 2.10 mods separatedly, in my pc, I would like both mods be like as one, so I would load multiple mods at once (changing doubled civs names, of course).I know I have to merge them, but I don't know how.
May be I'm a little lazy, you know, but I think this is really difficult to make, mostly to a person like me that just know (a little) to play CIVs.I tried but didn't get it.
I asked if it was 3.0 or 4.0 because Amra told me that may be in 3.0 I can't do it but in 4.0 I would. He explained why, I don't remember now.

Can you, not now, but someday teach us how is "changing these civ's to Plug and play Format "in a tutorial for dummies like me?(Pleeeaaaase!!!)
OK, no problem, I'm kidding. I know you are a very busy guy, thanks for your hard work on CIVGOLD, it's fantastic!
I just want you to know that I love this site, all the people here, and come + - 20 times a day to this thread just for reading your posts and try to learn something new so I won't bother you any more than I already do.
Thanks for your answers, it was very nice of you doing this.

HMM.... Rebakan. Perhaps you are trying to merge the 2 Mods together already? If this is so... yes it will be very difficult... Wait for CIV GOLD 4.0's release and you will understand better.

purplexus - sorry to mither you.. I take it from above that Civ Gold 4.0 will work with BtS? Also, will Scotland feature in the next lineup?

A big thank you for Civ Gold 3.0, polished the game off perfectly for me the last 9 months. :)
