You know Steph.... few months ago I created my own mod (rules, parameters units (no new animations) and so on...
And I remeber that I created few bomber types. Guess what. AI built olny the best ones therefore it costet the most.

So i Think AI will built olny the best units without considering its cost :cry:
 
Gentlemen,

A while back, a few of us ran a large number of tests trying to determine what logic the AI follows in its choice of builds. With some limited exceptions, most of our results defied all "human" logic -- i.e., the choice an intelligent player would make was usually NOT made.

Neither cost nor movement factors seemed to be taken into account, only (1) maintaining an overall land force-pool ratio of ~60%-40% DF to AF and (2) usually choosing the highest rated AF/DF unit for the role, even if the unit was terrribly unbalanced (i.e., for an Offensive unit, it would choose a 9/1/1 over a 7/3/1 or 6/4/1).

Although we arrived at no consensus, my own personal theory is that the AI algorithm is meant to work, at any one moment in the game, with a limited forced pool from which it will choose units.

Another of my pet theories is that the entire notion of unit-generating improvements is essentially a "work-around" for this problem.

-- At least, with C3C, the "Build Never / Often" flags seem to work ...

Check the first post for the link to the additional file. It's a big file, it add about 160 units.
I hope it works OK for everybody. Don't forget it's still a beta, so there may be some typo.

Hey Steph - good job out there!
But there a lot of bugs. Currently I ve been working on tweaking the mod. I will release my version of your mod soon - when I finish the game and see all the possibilities. So in the next few weeks.

I have a great news for all of fans of Steph MOD.
Currently I have been working on C3C version of this great MOD. I have managed to convert editor file from PTW version to C3C version!!!
Everything seems to run OK!

Now I will modify it to get the C3C standards in Steph MOD beta 4. I have already changed MANY aspects of the game, units. I will not make any TXT file with listed changes so here are the most singifance ones:

1. Becouse of units cost in population and AI stupidy (read AI cities are very small) I have issued a new rule here. Olny workers and Settlers have a population cost factor. I know that the basic Steph idea was great but unfortunatelly AI can't manage its cities properly. They are to small!

2. Cost of Bombers have been tripled and cost of Interceptors have been doubled. Planes that have good bombard/attack factor have been also increased.

3. Cost of all artillery units have been doubled.

4. MANY units have been modified in the A/D factor. Becouse of many misunderstandings when earlier units had better A/D than units from future. Please see those "strange" statistics in: Firearms and Chivalary - this is OLNY an example.

5. I also dislike the bombardment facor if the unit has no capability of bombarding (I mean zone of control). I will leave ZOC olny with: ARTILERIES, SHIPS, TANKS - so olny heavy units. And maybe with some other - I must consider this.

6. ALL land units (again becouse of AI stupidy) - with hidden nationality factor - this factor will be removed. These units will have olny "invisible" factor!

Currently I will modify ALL of the units so they could meet C3C standards (craters, collateral damages and so on). This will take A LOT OF TIME (few weeks or less).

SO I WILL BE VERY THANKFULL FOR SOMEONE WHO COULD HELP WITH CIVILOPEDIA CORRECTIONS.

STEPH I WILL APPRIACIATE IF WE COULD WORK TOGETHER ON C3C MOD!!!

You just now did it I converted this mod the day C3C came out. I just mod some needed things like batter Submarines and small changes like that but I use it for a personel mod thought ;) and let Steph do all the rest.:)

btw isn't Steph converting Steph's mod to C3C aleady;)
 
The new version of Steph mod will be OLNY for people who wants it (especially for me).
I will be honest. I do this mod OLNY for me. But I wanted you to know what I have been working on! So if you dont' like it, don't download this. Am just tweaking it to make it more reallistic. That's all.

I hope I will make you a suprise. But if you have THAT attitude - your buisness.

ANYWAY - A WANT TO MAKE SOMETHING BETTER THAN IT IS. THAT IS ALL!

LACHLAN-------> I don't know but you should know that Steph MOD has a lot of bug. I also try to fix them. Don't be so hard man. If you don't like it, don't download this. This is MY version of his mod. In MY opinion better one. Maybe in yours opinion worse one.
