stJNES10: Expand and Conquer

Both Nations will benefit, and we wont be trading money, we will be trading goods for goods, and then these goods shall be sold within our internal national markets, therfore we both benefit, because these new goods are normal to our own nation, but are exotic and rare to the others, and will therefore fetch a high price in national sale, whereas if sold in your own market, there would be much less revenue

sounds good :)

A trade defict occurs when the country you are trading worth is selling more to you then you are to them

Take this example. Country A produces wheat, which is worth $1 a shipment, Country B produces pigs which is worth $2 a shipment. This means the country with pigs is earning 2 dollars and losing 1 for every shipment putting it at +1 dollar a shipment. Country A is the opposite with -1 dollar a shipment.

Now say that there are five shipments a turn. That means Country B gets 5 dollars a turn however Country A loses 5 credits a turn.

In modern times this is obviusly more complicated and if you want to learn more about the laws of supply and demand, trading advantages, most favoured trading status and the like read the economics news and learn Adam Smith's economic laws which are still relativley simplicitic and valid.

1.) Capitalism is not the economic system until the late 1700's :)

2.) Ever heard of a thing called comparative advantage? Both nations can benefit from trade, even if one is much mroe economically developed then the other. For times sake, I will not go over that here, but google it, im sure there are plenty of sources out there.

3.) Adam Smith is only an example of classical economics, to get a full scale of economics from both sides, read Keynes.

4.) Grandpa's birthday today, I will have to update after work probably, around 10:00 PM my time.

so...if you allow amirsan's merchants to sell their stuff to your populace, and you to sell stuff to his, this is what you mean by trade?

And they only fetch a higher price if you the supply is low and the demand is high. ;)

Well if you read his orders, we do not have contact yet, but he is coming to the west to trade, probably in the Belarics when I claim them or Valentia.

He said he is bringing rare materials from Italy. So what do I do to get a fair trade? I assume it will be +1 eco for both of us or something?

A simple task at hand, thought Rupert as he galloped across the countryside. I suppose Ill make the most of it, and slaughter some dirty Germanians at the same time!. Rupert, the new General in Command of the Austrian Army, let out a grin. This was, afterall, what he lived for.

The battle is at hand, Rupert tightened the reins on his horse, and there is no place I would rather be

Orders
-increase spearmen
-send a party of 50 spearmen to expand down the eastern side of the Southern Danube, as shown in agreement between me and Illyria
-send a party of 50 spearmen to expand north into the Danube
-make 2 establishments, the first being in the west along the Danube named Innsbruck. The second being in the east along the Danube named Budapest. Both of these establishments are away from the capital, but not to close to the border.

Military Orders
-send an invasion force of 450 Archers & 100 spearmen to attack the Bavarians through the Eastern border with them
-send a similar force of 450 Archers & 100 spearmen to attack through the Western border
-take note of the land around, do not fall for ambushes. Take advantages of the forests for archer attacks, and use the obvious strategy of organization(archers in back, spearmen as main combaters) if there is a head-to-head clash. Put the head general in charge of the Western Invasion force, as send his second-in-command to the Eastern one. They are to be taught in the rules of barbarian warfare, and tell it to the soldiers.

Yeah it is kinda like that, but seeing as materials (some) that are common in italy would be rare in Spain, and materials (some) that are common in Spain would be rare in Italy... so basically both would fetch a higher price abroad

Dude I was just trying to give a quick overview :P

Sphardia Orders

expansion.png

Basically we are going on a full expansion spree. This whole turn will be dedicated to moving our people and spreading it throughout the blue land on the map and moving our galleys and unlading according to the arrows. I want to grab as much as what is left of iberia this turn especially cutting the Basque from any further expansion themselves.

For the third time in a row, we are going to build Valentia and ENCOURAGE THE PEOPLE TO SETTLE THE BELEARICS. If they cannot do so, please contact me to change my orders. This would be the third time I ask this, please make it clear if its not possible efore you update.

We are going to gather and build a trade route between Madrid and Valentia. And then from Balearics to Valentia. This system should prove well with any coming traders caught in the middle. There should be trade and goods flowing through Valentia. If traders land in Belearics, tell the traders there to follow them to Valentia which will become our main trading city. Gather all of our exotic resources and animals aswell as the good in which we over grow.

Please tell me if this is not possible, if not, tell me and I will fix my orders! Thanks.

We are then going to increase our army. Remember, all is strictly settling lands. Send regular settlers and people down south, and use our military to expand along the Basque lands.

Btw - Amirsan, you do know that Spharad is the Hebrew name for "Spain"?

jason, i added 1 extra order to my non-war orders just so ya know

yup.... I will reveal our people's story soon.... but I am sure you would already know it.

Oh yes. Spharad, the Promised Land... Reminds me of a joke on an alternate history forum during a discussion of "Moses going in a different direction". The Jews demand that he leads them to Madagascar, to Switzerland, to Russia, to Finland, to China, to Cuba, to Australia... which explains why the Exodus took so long. ;)

so, when shall the next update be? a shame to see it ground to a halt by people who cant handle the rapid updates.

Jason, evidently, CAN handle rapid updates. Its just that the entire world, apart from me personally and him as well, conspired against him and is creating convenient excuses for him not to update. ;)

I meant all these players not sending in timelyl orders- its rathe robviosu fromt he past few updates that jason can handle them, at least when he has time to do them.

Thats right, I can handle them :). Update is tonight, getting back on schedule for once-a-"dayers" so to speak. It seems it is near impossible for me to force myself to update on weekends, as I work and try to get time for "social events" :).

So pretty much do not count on me updating on the weekends (fri sat sun), but I will try to keep back to back on the weekdays.

Jason

Well, I started it (albeit a bit late) and now have to give up the comp. to my sister. I will finish it tomorrow (early day). Please forgive me, this upsets me just as much as you, I want this to be a quick NES.

Jason

As was previously stated. ;)
