stNNES2: StatesNES

or pehaps New Hampshire should stay in the Union.

To: France, Spain
Re: Embargo

We free peoples of America ask that you embargo all goods coming from the south. Surely a freedom-loving nation such as France sympathizes with the United States. Without the revenue from selling their cotton abroad, surely the South will fall into a depression.
May I remind the Spanish that the Confederates currently have designs on your territories in the New World. The Union currently has no such ambitions.
Thank you, Your Highnesses.

With the acceptance of the loan we have proposed the buying of Northern Florida can and shall begin.

While we do not persume to speak for the entire Confederacy, we have the right to succession under the constiution of the United States. The election of President Adams also shows that the North wish to rule us in tyranny, tyranny we cannot accept. As your Empire practices Slavery you cannot persume to show us that we are not freedom loving. While we have no designs on your North American territory we also ask your gracious government to remain neutral in our cause to fight for freedom from tyranny, a fight you can agree with.

We shall support you if you support us. Can we ask for a full trading pact with your nation. This will allow our primary industry to grow as well as the economies of both nations (I am sure your industry can use the cotton, tobbacco and other crops we can provide along with the mineral deposits that we possess.

To the United States

While we hope earnestly that we can avoid war and live in peace as two brother American nations, the actions of a few can influence the many. Do not allow the Pennsylvanias of the world to throw the American people into a war where we can live in peace.

The reason why we left the Union is pretty clear. While the Union itself is a grand thing, the fact that it is not stable in any form, nor does it recognise the rights of the South, or the fact that it favours the North makes it clear that the Southern states cannot continue with their acceptance.

From the offices of Confederate State of Carolina

I put forth Senator Dawes of Carolina for the presidency. I ask you to support him. Under Senator Dawes, the Confederacy will ensure its independence from the capital of Richmond. I also choose Senator Hayes of Virginia for Vice-President.

After all if we can make sure that everyone in the CSA gets a go at President we can stay together.

We also will redefine the electoral system to allow for greater equality between the states.

occ: North King anyone in the CSA who does not vote should split their vote evenly.

Governor Van der Ploeg grunts and wonders "They do realize that they only moved the capitol south a couple hundred miles, right?"

OOC: France is slaveholding? Really?

occ: Until about 1815 yeah.

To Pennsylvannia
From Carolina

We demand that you of all states recognise the right to succession and allow any and all states in the Union to join the Confederacy if they so choose. If you do not recognise the Confederacy we will treat it as a decleration of war against the Conmfederate Government.

To: The Southern States

"We do not at this time wish to attack the "Confederacy." Do not be alarmed at our recent military buildup, it is to defend against the British and in response to your own massive buildups. I repeat, we do not wish at this time to attack your states. Perhaps it is better if we settle issues of legality after the British menace has stopped breathing down our necks."

Sheep, there may be a mixup in my PM box, and I could be missing your orders. Could you resend them (and perhaps change a few, given that your last makes no sense, given recent times.

To Pennsylvania
From the Confederacy

We are friends with the British. Futhermore we do not see any recognition of the Confederacy. We ask you where it is?

I will resend all orders asap.

Thanks.

To everyone who has not gotten orders in:

Orders are rather important during this update... You may want to get them in.

When is update?

In one of the most agonizing moments of his public life, Henry Van der Ploeg writes
". . . in view of study of the Constitution, I have concluded that I affirm the right of secession of Virginia and Carolina. . ."

Update is very soon, as soon as I get around to it. Within the next half hour. The diplo flitting about is quite interesting. :)

OOC: I too am really rather impressed by how deeply the players are getting into their roles.
Geez, I've been on tenterhooks today waiting for results from this game.

So am I. I applaud all the players in here, they really make this a fun NES. Especially what with all the evil ideas floating about that have wrecked the Union in only two updates. :D

Be warned If any northern state acts against our government in any way we shall construde that as an act of war.
