It must be noted that Hawaii was reached by TONG Sailors, whose ships are superior as well as culture to any "Polynesians" like that of the Yue who had the audacity to attack the Righteous Kingdom of Shu.
That just means that there are two nations with far superior sailing abitlities to that of the Ravenans.

I assure you, the Pacific is anything and everything except "peaceful"

Cali and hawaii are surfer heavens for a reason; and that reason is major waves compared to what we get in the atlantic.

They are surfers heavens because of the contential shelf, in the pacific, it is much more radical incline than the atlantic, this creates the bigger waves when the waves get close to shore.

And yet, the Polynesian ships managed to get there at the same time that yours were scared to even go past Gibralter.

we were never scared to go past the pillar of Heracles- its was only because of the political situation (Portugese control over the pillars, and Ravenna being an enemy of portugal. as well as the entire area being a warzone between the portugese, portugese rebeles, The Tartessians, and the Balerics) that prevented Ravennic ships from goin gpast earlier

I assure you, your talking to the wrong man if you want to cal somone a "coward"

and bigger waves mean rougher seas; no matter what the reason may be for thos eseas being rough, they still are

Tong is the most seafaring state there is in this Nes's world that's unchallenged by nearly everyone except Insane_Panda's country. What does that have to do with anything though?

And Polynesians can't be considered a "country" either. They immigrated in groups and families and when they settled they were NOT under the jurisdiction of where they came from.

EDIT: If he only became mad AFTER that, and then the hostages took over the ships and killed him en route, how did anyone know he even survived? :p

All this stuff about the Pacific being rough is telling me that the Hawai'ians must be really good sailors to have made it to Hawai'i, possibly the best sailors out there (I say possibly because of the Tong).

According to the all knowing wikipedia.

The west coast of the Americas tends to have better surfing areas than the east coast. While the continental shelf of the west coast drops off quickly, on the east it extends a great distance, creating drag and making smaller and less powerful waves.

There was that time there was a part that said the Penguins would take over the world... :mischief:

@Israelite, how could he become famous for being mad if he was killed by his hostages en-route?

hmm. interesting; I really dont knwo how the pacific ends up being rougher, and the waves end up higher over thiere then; on a good day, atlatic waves will reach chest high; over thier peakes can reach 12 or more in some spots.

Some loyalist pirates escaped and told people about how mad the guy had been, getting himself and many hundreds of sailors killed while at the same time going through some of the most hostile waters to be moveing through.

So they kidnapped a few thousand people who managed to kill their few hundred sailor kidnappers? Can their ships even fit that much people...

Because Ravennan and Med galleys in general are not made for deep ocean sailing.

Enough said.

They were very good sailors, they only needed like half the amount normally needed to run a ship. The ship was overcrowded with captives. Actually, not that many of the future Haitains were ethnically French, the French just had a huge impact on the cuture of the foture Haitains.
