STR-01: The Scorched Lands

In the worst case we might have to make peace with cyrus and war on Peter again. We need to catch up in tech.

Got it, I will play tonight or tomorrow.

However, I do feel that a 3-man roster is too small. I still want to finish RBCiv's Epics 4 and 5 before I go on holiday, and I now have another SG running as well. If there are any lurkers out there interested in helping out, do tell.

Experience doesn't really matter. SG's are a good way to get that experience. On the other hand, we are in a tough phase right now. We'll really need to cooperate to conquer the remaining civs. So if you're not sure about what to do, please discuss it with the rest before you decide.

:jesus:

Anyway, welcome.

The New and Improved Roster:
1) Strauss --> UP!
2) Pvblivs --> on deck, once again stuck in a SG that loses half of its participants, it might be your breath
3) Kanga_DU --> gave in to Gandhi's demands:rolleyes:
4) princecharles --> teh n00b

Even if I'm going to get my turn at the weekend I will be not able to play. A white beach near Rostock (East Sea) is waiting for me. Not to mention some WM semi-finals and finals.

So if someone likes to play before me then, feel free. I will come back next week.

Happy weekend everybody!

Let’s just start with the bad news: I lost a Settler on turn 7.

Inherited Turn (1810):
I demand 150 gold from Peter. See this Kanga? This is how a Khan should act.
I also make a trade with Julius: Nationalism (for Military Tradition) for Astronomy, 10 gold and World Map.

Turn 4 (1814): Johannes Kepler born in Pvblivs Fury. I fuse him with the Great Artist to start off a Golden Age

Turn 5 (1815): First Settler finished in Old Sarai. There is no room on the northeastern floodplains anymore thanks to Gandhi, so I send him to the No-man’s land between Mongolia and Russia.

Turn 6 (1816): Chemistry comes in, start on Steel. I notice that all 3 overseas civs have almost exclusively Riflemen defending their cities, no Grenadiers. So Cavalry seems a bit useless at the moment (and with it, the trade for Nationalism as well….

Turn 7 (1817): I accidentally move a (still unguarded) Settler too far forward and he reaches a barb border…. Not my day…:(

Nothing special happened since, the GA still has 4 turns to go, I upgraded some units to Grenadier, and started attacking the most northern barbarian city, and I built 4 Galleons. I also put a Settler in position. He still has movement points, so he can settle in the inherited turn. I think the site he's currently on looks good, but if you see a better place, you can move him.

Before we go overseas, I think Pvblivs' suggestion to make peace with Cyrus and wipe Russia out first sounds good. Tech trading with Cyrus could bring us back into the tech race, and if we get Steel before Julius does, we could fully catch up. It will take some time to get enough units up to Russia, but it's probably worth it.

Btw. Peace with Cyrus is only useful as long as we get him to cautious again ...

Not necessarily. All techs he has available are under "will trade". We might not get his techs at a cheap price, but if we find something really useful it could be worth it.

The New and Improved Roster:

1) Strauss
2) Pvblivs --> has fled to Rostock
3) Kanga_DU --> UP!
4) princecharles --> on deck

Well, Kanga's 24 hours are up.

The New and Improved Roster:

1) Strauss
2) Pvblivs --> has fled to Rostock
3) Kanga_DU --> swapped
4) princecharles --> UP! for his inaugural turnset

Kanga, if you can still grab the save before princecharles does, go ahead. Otherwise, you can go after him and consider this a swap.

Yes, 10 turns.

Orders:
- move units up to Russia
- upgrade units to Grenadiers when possible (without decreasing research)
- if you get enough units up to Russia in your turnset (though I doubt that will happen), make peace with Cyrus, and on the same turn declare on Peter.

Good luck

What about the settler/knight combination you left me with? Your not leaving the next city placement up to me, are you?:mischief:

Actually, I am;). I put them there because I think that's the best location, but you can choose another site if you want (though that would mean going against my opinion:whipped: )

Turns done.

0:Ghandi came to me with a worthless deal...for him. Traded coal for bronze. (Doesn't he already have infantry?) We have four sources left.

1:Ceasar has a caravel carrying a jewish missionary near our southern borders, lost track of him however...
Also, I founded the city, but since I didn't see Struass last post...well, he'll find out. :mischief:

2: The sword in Struassburg is now a grenadier, and while I was upgrading him, I saw a sttler and two riflemen, owned by ceasar, to the north of the city.
And I found Dacca...ouch

Oh, and a single maceman took out Hittite and razed it.

3: Monastry in Tabriz.
Settler sleeping in New Sarai.
Hittite maceman gets medic, becuase no other unit has it.

4:Complete Steel-go to rifles. Great age ends...

And another check up on Dacca...

Wait..What?!? Sams?:eek: The Infantry snip at the begging was a joke! Great. By the time we get machine guns, he'll luanch into space...

5:Elephant(6.9/8) kills Barb longbowman. We still have elephants? Uh-oh.:cry:
Also, after we got steel, we started losing money...lots of it. 60% to stop bleeding.

6: Our "army" arrives...

Complete with a knight, two macemen, and an elephant...:sad:

7:Peter demands Nationhood, I tell him to leave.

8:Caravel finishes exploring borders.

9:Nada

10:New army...grenadiers.:goodjob:

Thats about it. Am I still "teh n00b", or have I been promoted to "the new guy", or, even better, "That Guy".

Good turns. I'm not all that worried about Gandhi's SAM's. I have yet to play a Monarch game where I wasn't behind in tech at this point in the game. Once we get in the modern era, the differences start getting much smaller and since the Spaceship takes long to complete, we're still well in with a chance.

You have to raze at least one non-barbarian city before you get a promotion:hammer:

Well that makes you up again Strauss by my reckoning. Good solid set of turns PC.

:scan: I don't see a save though. :p
