STR-01: The Scorched Lands

Hey fellows. I got it and will play this evening.

Blastoid Khan. Great you're back. Now you have a task: Think how the f*ck we might still win this? You will be up next though Strauss may swap you away before if he can play before Tuesday :)

A word on binary research: Those possible rounding errors in the end may cost us a turn of technology research or two. But this has nothing to do with playing, in my opinion. Whoever wants to research binarily may do so, but I won't :)

Note the auto-skip period in my sig;). I almost broke down this laptop by testing out PES4 on its lowest settings for 2 minutes, so no CIV for me:lol:

Behold! For Pvblivs Khan stepped off the Throne of Mongolia. Someday he'll be known as Pvblivs, the Rail Builder, Pvblivs, the Admiral, maybe some would even call him "The Peaceful". But they would ignore the true intentions of his reign then.

In an art gallery has been documented how he reigned Mongolia between 1860 and 1870:

I got it and will play tonight

Excellent have a blast and I will pick up from your save.

Ralph

Looks like we still have a chance here.
I have never done it but I wounder if this is the perfect game for the nuclear option?

The trick to winning is going to be getting the Romans to declare war on India. Not alowing indi ato build up forces on our continent.

Are we looking at actualy taking Cyrus out or are poeple using him as a war place holder until the time is right to go after Gahndi.

Place holder. There's actually not much use taking cities other than tactical on another continent thus far in the game.

Good to have you back, blastoid!

I hope you didn't forget that we can't take cities;). That reminds me, did you bring Settler(s) with the invasion force?

No I didn't. In fact I completely forgot it. Why? I do not know :)

So blastoid, please bring along a settler or two with our next fleet.

Still to this day no one really knows if he was real or some elaborate Hoax.
A group of climbers found him and his horse in a mountain cave high above the coastal city of Blastoid’s Tombs, an ancient Keshik frozen in ice. Allegedly as the climbers were chipping the ice away to get to the gold and jewels covering the horse’s armor, the man broke through his icy bonds and lopped off the heads of four of them before they cowered in fear and surrendered. He claimed the climbers as his slaves and lead them down the hill to the town where he promptly laid claim to the throne he was Khan Blastoid returned from his long journey to the mountains to reconnoiter the enemy. He urged recruits on a new assault on the Russians. Upon hearing that the Russian’s were no more he became so happy that he accidentally killed three more townsfolk with the new weapon he had discovered, the gun. Thinking the world his he called for a party of drinking and revelry but was then told that there were new enemies, other people that had come across the seas. This made Khan Blastoid very angry and several more towns people dead.

According to the laws of Mongolia Khan Blastoid was the oldest member of the royal line (by about 500 years) and therefore properly claimed the thrown. His rule had two major marks. He brought the beloved horse back into the Mongol military, instituting a modern code of the horse with training in marksmanship to form the new Keshik cavalry. The people enraptured with this figure from there bygone glory days flocked to the training centers and a new era of Keshiks this time with firearms was begun.

In his earlier career Khan Blastoid always had a personal hand in military pursuits and to keep him from causing two much damage to the homeland, his advisors shipped him over to Persian lands where he led the assault and razing of the city of Tarsus in 1872. He then moved farther south pillaging and Persian village he could find. His lieutenants had to constantly stop him from trying to pillage and kill Indian villagers in nearby lands for they feared the new weapon they saw passing through the cities, the tank. When the Khan died again in battle in 1880 the people mourned the passing of a great hero and the leaders gave a great sigh of relief. Now they could use his legend to boost there military without worrying about him carelessly killing his own or others people.

Looks good blastoid (except for those Tanks in India), and I am impressed with your effort for creating a little story each time. However, using screenshots and (especially) paragraphs make it more easy and fun to read. Right now it's one big blob of text which could put some people off reading it, which would be a waste of course.

Ralph is UP! then. Charge our mighty Cavalry against the inferior Indian Tanks:lol:!

By the way, I think Ralph is the only starting player who doesn't have a city named after him, while Kanga has two:eek:!

OK will post some thoughts tonight and play / report tomorrow.

So, as far as I can see we ca't win a conventional war aginst Gandhi, he is out :science: us out :hammer: us and has 3 time the military to us so...

1. Plan A burn the Great Scientist to complete Physiscs and beeline to Manhattan Project and Nuke Gandhi. Possible and sounds fun and in keeing with the SG. This would be accompanied by moving away from 100% Military to more of a research based economy (need to get lots of Nukes before Gandhi launches) and just use our current military to hammer Cyrus but not quite to death...

2. Plan B continue as we are heavy military taking out Cyrus then JC and leaving Astronaut Gandhi to depart our Scorched earth leaving us beaten "technically" but masters of the Rest of the World, fun and in keeping with the spirit of the SG.

Views before I play, personally I like 1 because if "we are going down , lets go down in flames!!"

Sounds very interesting. Not a convential strategy, and indeed in keeping with "The Scorched Lands". Political consequences are irrelevant at this stage, and the only somewhat realistic way of actually winning this game. The 'only' questions: do we have the production capacity to build nukes in a sufficient amount? And is the Manhattan Project 'all' that is needed for nukes? And when can Gandhi build the SETI-program which would make our nukes practically useless?

I hate not having acces to CIV, I now have to try and make up the exact situation from your reports. They're all quite clear and properly written but of course I can't see our exact production situation, tech requirements etc., which leaves the Supreme Khan powerless to intervene in the conclusion of his Master Plan:lol:.
