Stupid things you have done in Civ 5

Find a tile close (but not too close) to my capital with TWO natural wonders bordering it! Beeline liberty and get the free settler. Settler gets sent over, and... immediately gets capped by barbs. Joy.

build a bunch of battleships to take coastal cities, cross the ocean in formation with subs scouting ahead, arrive at destination after 8 turns and find I forgot to build ONE destroyer to capture cities.

I dont get you. Whose workers are you referring to ?I guess you mean your workers on auto-building mode, right ? But isnt a nuke attack instantaneous ?how can your PC predict if in the next turn, you are launching a nuclear bomb or not ?so instead of blaming the mechanics, you had better be more prudent to turn off your workers ' auto mode.
If you are referring to your opponent 's workers, then why does it matter, you just wreak havoc on anything on the enemy land, right ?

nah nothing so complex. I mean that I stupidly miscalculate how large the nuke blast radius is, and it spills over borders into other territories where the noncombatant AI's people are working. Also the nuke destroys their farms or whatever they have there and they consider it an act of war. :suicide:

I just think that IRL if my neighbours are throwing nukes around, I would get everybody into the shelters no matter what allegiance I am! :run:

Those barbarians couldn't stand you any more.First off, you pissed them off with your imprudent intrusion of their beautiful and bountiful territories. And you added oil to it by wandering around there, ignoring their prowess. lol.

Yup, barbs often remember me how they dislike when I'm scorning them.
Example : Where does this horseman come from ? It captured my workers and will pillage two to three tiles before my archers come back.
Ho yes, this camp near a CS. I let it with a brute wounded enough to be kill in one turn by a scout. To get an easy CSquest. Let see if quest is on in CS, something like 40 to 50 turns after I let it alive. Humm, nope. :hammer2:
Stupid dumb, raze a camp as soon as possible.

^^ reminds me of more of my own stupid timing.

early stages of the game and only know one or two CS's. spreading religion to them (I'm Celts) in a turn or two with a missionary, decide to take steal worker first without realizing that they had a religion quest waiting, which promptly got deleted. doh!

happened to me also. Why can not the battleships capture the coastal cities ?it does not make sense...

Forgot to check the blast radius on my nuke, instead of just hitting my enemy it hot all of my front line troops and my ally Korea in our co-invasion...

Gave a tank the repair promotion on top of march (it was upgraded from cavalry). Why is there two different names for the same ability?

Playing with combat animations switched on up until now. I thought turning them off would help a little, but DAMN. Turn times are easily twice as fast in the late game on my computer, and that's when there's not a single war going on.

what is the blast radius on a nuke? I thought it was just a 3-tile diameter? I've never used them in 3,4,or 5. THough I have built them as assurance on a couple of messy games.
I hope that it has an circular indication telling users how long the radius is rather than leaving us guessing about it, which sometimes cause unwanted troubles like accidentally hurting a CS or CIV and triggering a war.
Damn, it is really a headache when i am aiming a target standing at a narrow and crowded place which sometimes neighbours a CS or CIV.

Nuked in an allied CS territory to kill all the Alexander's army around it. Didn't realized that it would mean instant war against that CS. :p

Bismarck did surprise attack and got one city that was pretty far from my other cities. I had just got my first nuke and decided to drop it there. I destroyed most of my own population and buildings that I later recaptured in 10 turns or so.

That makes perfect sense: catapults/trebuchets/cannons/etc cannot take cities either, and nobody complains.
Frigate/battleships are a kind of naval artillery: taking the cities and scouting are the purpose of caravels/destroyers.

Today, I was playing Conquest o the New World Deluxe, as the Mayas. And I was in 5th in the score list, until I saw that the American Ideology, had powerful 3rd tiers, while I was picking the ones I liked the most in order (Four from the frist tier, Three from the second tier) and that was 40 turns to end, and I was 500 behind in score  Then I choose Desert Folklore as the Reformation Belief, and... I won the game with England and Spain attacking me and taking Chichen Itza ( That I didin't know that was spelled this way ) Pretty cool game  It reminded me of Colonization, when I gained independence and all the navy from the world attacked my cities :lol

LOL. I always think there should be some kind of diplomatic repercussions when the AI nukes a city that I just took from him. Of course, unlike the AI, you actually got your city back!

Its nukes isn't it?

I was so fired up to use them the first time I played Civ V, just to see what the graphic was like more than anything, loosed the beast off, killed my own units, I think it was Napoleon I was allied to - so you can guess how kiss-ass I must've been through the whole game for THAT to happen -anyhoo killed all his units too, and took out some random spanish unit and a russian ship hanging offshore - pretty much consigned me to total war for the rest of the game.

Ho hum.

Haha, I have pretty nice indident with nukes

My first game with such far technology, I decided to try nukes, build one in my capital, I was so excited, war music is playing, I click on Nuke Button... wrong button, and I detonate nuclear bomb in my own capital
