Since my GF is at the semi annual office party this evening, and I'm not allowed to go, I find myself all alone in my big ol' house.
< Sigh />
What's a girl to do? Why, play Civ, of course!
I had the worst game ever!!! All thanks to the RNG. (Booo!!)
I was playing random civ and random personalities on a continents map. I drew Washington of the Americas. On my continent were Izzy and Mansa. I wiped out Mansa right away and then built things up a little and went after Izzy. When I started, she only had three cities, one of which I promptly razed. I sent my axemen and chariots further in to her territory to take out Madrid and Barcelona. Nope. my stack of ten units didn't make it more than a couple of plots in. I regrouped and sued for peace since those were the bulk of my forces at the time. I quickly researched Horseback Riding and Ironworking and began to whip horsemen and swordsmen, and made a few nice stacks. By this time, Izzy had around seven cities, most of them poorly defended. I razed two more of them, and sent the bulk of my forces into her territory. It was like she had land mines. I started losing units left and right. I was getting slaughtered, and not only that, I was losing horsemen and swordsmen to archers that weren't even on hills. They were out in the open in the plains.
I kept whipping and building, whipping and building, trying to keep up with my losses. I tried for peace four times, but she would have none of it. I sent in almost everything I had and lost every.bloody.unit. Izzy had minimal losses. I gave up counting my lost units at 77. I was finally able to get a peace treaty, but by the time I had an army again, Izzy had a monstrous tech lead (and longbows).
I threw in the towel and gave up in disgust.
So let me ask... How many of you have had a game where you've been drubbed that badly by the RNG? Not just a loss or two, but a really good mangling. Let's not turn this into a "Civ cheats" thread, just please recount a tale of when you've been handed your knickers on a plate by the RNG.
Maybe we can find some humor in our shared misery.
