Well, yeah, somewhat... But if someone loved Baldur's Gate or one of these types of games, playing Planescape Torment is a must. It's probably the best in this genre.

Fallout 3
the covers the DnD based RPGs, and nothing else is really close to them, IMO.
Fallout 1 and 2 don't use the Infinity Engine and Baldur's Gate was developed by Bioware, not by Black Isle
Definetly stay away from Gothic 3, it's just atrocious. The first two games in the series however are excellent.
I'd personally stay away from Sacred, too. The game never really caught my interest in the same way Diablo did, and the Skill system is stupid imo.
I'd love to play some good RPG, unfortunately nowadays games are designed for consoles and children, not ~30 old farts with high expectations![]()
I understand what you're saying. But it's different now. Old rules are no longer valid.Game developers don't see 30 year olds as being finacially viable when producing games that would require a significant time investment. This is more or less because by that stage of their life, they generally have enough other commitments that they simply won't have the time to play through the game, so they won't bother purchasing it.
It is with this lesson that the gaming industry learned that the vast majority of the gaming population cannot read.
Yeah that game was great. One of the best settings there is.Ah! Vampire:The Mascarade - Bloodlines

We each recommended the same game once, you're the one who kept coming back to bash it. So who has more time?To be frank I think you either have to much time on your hands...
What? All 5 of us here?...or want to be as non-conformist as possible by *trying* really hard to enjoy games like these.

Baldur's Gate 1/2
Icewind Dale
Planescape: Torment
Neverwinter Nights Platinum
Neverwinter Nights 2

I'm going to ignore this instruction by about a month, and suggest the greatest RPG ever:
Planescape: Torment
...
@Phrox
In any case, Witcher was good, I like Gothic series, but I know what you mean - nothing on a Torment or Fallout scale...
...
The very best RPG ever is, in fact, Planescape: Torment.
