My thought is to send a second email, after registration is confirmed, with the topic something like "Posting suggestions for new members" or somesuch.

It will never work, because people won't take the time to read it, for instance do we read the licensing agreements when installing new software?? I don't.

This is what we should do, it should be put in as a link when you get your activation email. Something like "Rules and Guidelines on the Civilization Fanatics' Center Forums"

I do, now, after I found out that when an email addy is submitted, some places construe giving them your email addy is giving them permission to use it. So while I may not read it, I certainly scan it now. What some people won't do for a buck. . . ain't life grand?

Edit: Should have said, sell it, not use it.

Well, the welcome PM is not a built in feature. I think I installed it during that time when I was busy installing forum hacks such as Quick Reply, Contract/Expand Post, Blink PM Bar, PM Gauge, etc... :)

You most likely registered before those features were implemented.

IC :)

Ahhh that's why! When I registered at CGN I was wondering why they didn't have a quick reply or a contract/expand, a PM gauge...well I'm glad that this forum has it. :D :) Makes my life that much easier.
