Well done, great stuff, :thanx:

Congratulations. This was the closest win I ever saw on a Civ game. Incredible.

Thanks for your time. I suppose now that the story is over I should get back to my work. ~sigh~ Dang.

Here to chime in with the others to offer thanks for a fantastic read.
:hatsoff:

I figure I won't get to play for at least a week. I have some comic strips to draw that are long overdue!

But, like many, I can't really predict who'll be the next leader. I'm rather impulsive, when it comes to selecting a leader... depends on how I feel that day.
It's going to be a BTS leader, though. I'm not done exploring their possibilities.

Some days I think Hammurabi, others Charlemagne, Boudica, Justinian, Pacal, or Sitting Bull. Or others. You get the drift.

In fact, my real criteria is the map. I can quit and restart games until I get a map that looks fun to me, and that can take a long time. It's the only reason the World Builder isn't off. To speed things up, I look at the map's shape at 4000 BC. If it looks right, I keep the game. If it doesn't (I especially hate continents that look like a round ball), I restart another game.
For example, I kept this game (Suleiman's) because of the main continent's strange shape. It has nothing to do with the starting location, really. The general look of the map just has to inspire me.

Thus, now that I look back, I initially knew I wouldn't have Oil or Coal unless I forcibly took them from Wang Kon early on.
However, games are so much longer when you take screen shots, and, well, write pages and pages of dialog that I completely forgot a day or two later. When Oil and Coal became important... then I remembered... which was too late, lol.

Another thing I wonder about and BSed my way through in this story:
- Was Boudica NOT ALLOWED to become my Vassal because Churchill was hers, or
- Did she, in fact, just didn't WANT to become my vassal?
I really don't know. It's the first time I had the chance to vassalize someone who had a vassal...

In any case, though it's my worst win ever in terms of Score, it sure was the closest.
I really thought had lost it. I only nuked Suryavarman in a true spirit of fair play and sportsmanship. OK, I'm a sore loser. It was out of spite, revenge, and frustration.
I just did not think it would adversely affect his score. Even though it makes total sense that you lose a few points when your size 21 Capital gets nuked...

I think it would be hilarious if you picked someone with "barbarian qualities" like genghis or shaka or monty, and have the main character be totally misogynistic and cruel. That would, of course open the door to "cannibal humor", always a crowd pleaser.
