Summer 2017 Patch Notes Discussion

I had Nubia willing to give me literally everything they had apart from their new capital (as I took their original) to make peace, essentially taking them out of the game which was an incredibly stupid move on their part considering they were actually one of the leading civs in my game.

I had expected my musket to take 80 points or something instead, but no
So if you are +0 against a modern city with musket you take 25 damage and they take roughly 4 damage (17%) their garrison takes a minimum of 1 damage. The first few bashes seem pointless but as you damage the wall more the garrison takes more damage and fights back worse. It's all in another couple of threads.

So, cities liberated back to an allied Civ getting occupied status. New bug, pre-existing bug or just me?
Sounds new if it's happening, have not tried it.

Sorry if someone has mentioned it already but how come this Summer Patch and new DLC for Nubia wasn't put on the main page? Its much more important than all the stuff that's normally there!

@Victoria

It was during a Hot Seat game, setup for achievement hunting (i.e. for The 25th Dynasty), so it might be an oddity related to that. But who knows, they have certainly created enough far more obvious new bugs. I'll see if it can be replicated for reporting.

unless they have a mesa Natural Wonder in the pipeline

Monument Valley would be cool. That's where Hollywood always films Westerns. But the trend seems to be for more obscure natural landscapes, rather than ones that are familiar to western consumers.

450 turns in and some civs still have 1 city.

I thought this problem was gone for good. Its back.
Can you tell if they've built a settler? It seems if a settler gets "stuck" somehow and can't settle the civ never builds another unless/until that one is captured or settles.

The first settler built only costs 10 more after the patch than before (standard speed), so that shouldn't be making much difference.

Indeed, I have always been suprised they have not added the Great Canyon yet

This is insane - 9 months after and they release a new patch full of errors again. Dont hey just test things a bit before they hit the release button? In my game civs didnt build anyting - they had settlers but didnt use them. Maybe they are stuck, but to have England in turn 130 with just 3 towns is just to easy to play against.

When folks complain about AI failure it would be helpful to describe too what level you are playing at, what map and settings and if possible which civs are in play. For one, I'd be curious to know.

If I am completely honest the patch is a big improvement, they have just mainly messed up deals so you get some really annoying trade screens. Alliances is upsetting a bit because that eureka should be gettable.
If liberated cities stay occupied I'm sure they'll release a fix for it, I'll liberate one tonight.
My first deity game played pretty normal, my peaceful immortal was a mess and I just could not get settlers out fast enough, it's not so bad on the emperor game I am playing now as Pericles.... the extra envoys are Ok but not ground breaking... Inthink spies seem more playable, perhaps too much.

Not familiar with the update system in these parts. Do hotfixes come fast for bugs such as those described?

Regardless of game, I tend to avoid games right after a patch, as it is fairly inevitable something gets borked.

So just compared the worth/cost values in diplomacy. The values below are worth/cost

These seem to work as follows
worth is the value of approaching you about something, higher is better
Cost is the value of them accepting a proposal from you. Lower is better.
So in a friendly state they are more likely to agree to approach you to be friends and less likely to agree to be friends if you approiach them and reseach agreements have been made more appealing both ways
Alliances have not changed which is weird because they are just not accepting them easily... I think it used to be a biug they always accepted and now they have quite possibly corrected it

The Gandhi 'get some nukes' diplo penalty is sloppy. Remember the 'get some airplanes' nonsense they fixed? I'm curious how this mistake could have been made.

@WillowBrook

Its tsl giant earth no barbs. Play it all the time. The only thing that could have happened to an english settler/city is a viking steal. But Norway isn't settling either.

I've got 2 ships heading up there to see what the heck is going on.

But this was an issue a couple of patches back. I had to settle lots of cities for the ai. This new behavior seems to be mirroring the old behavior.

I don't know if anyone has encountered this bug but I've just started noticing it after the patch. My first game I placed a farm on my rice, naturally giving me a boost to irrigation, the next thing I did was move my warrior into a goodie hut and I got the same tech boost, even though I just acquired it a second ago in the same turn. Then my second game, I got a great scientist that gives me 2 tech boosts and 1 civic boost; when activated he gave me a boost to mining, then a boost to a civic, then another boost to mining... I feel like this happens because the game doesn't take into account boosts and city bonuses until the next turn. And again, only stated to notice after the patch.

Bugs I found or still are tin game before the patch:

- I can still do peace with C.S. when allien with an enemy Civ. in war. (Bug?)
- Playing in windowed some text in leader scene are bugued. (Minor issue)
- Ghandi and nuclear agenda in early ages.
- Units can´t heal self sometimes. (Happened 2 times for me after stack with builders, patch bug?)
- Now units from other civs can move into my territory until I research a civic. (bug? changed mechanic? This happened before? I dunno)
- You can´t accept traits with relics and works if you haven´t slots for them, however, green accept button still in screen.

Changes in AI I saw:

- Now they declare war more frequently if you got a low military power. (Someone take notice that?)
- AI Joint war more frequently too againts you.
- Wonders priority changed.
