Sunday's PAX talk (with summary of the info)

Thanks Seek! Good to see we'll finally be getting the one feature that everyone's been wanting: A loading screen while skipping the video. :mischief:

Yes but there has to be more than just that. Although, I am glad not to have to push esc, enter, and click my left mouse button like hell to get the game to stop during the intro.

Well, of course there'll be more, my comment was in jest. :p Still, I wonder why they didn't just sneak that into the current patch anyway...

So little patience, huh? :) Also, stop swearing, it doesn't make you sound cool.

Regarding the new era, having it called the Great War Era (if that had been more than wishful thinking) was a bad idea since the presence of new military units in an era or series of techs may or may not involve any warfare. I've been in games where hundreds of turns have done by without much fighting by any civs.

The reason I said hell, mom, is because of an old joke my Dad used to say about manual ABS brakes. I mentioned it to an automotive instructor I knew, who said, "So your Dad just pumps the hell out of his brakes to come to a stop if he slips on ice." He got a kick out of that. That's why applied what he said to me clicking my mouse like hell. Just because it struck me funny. Okay? And yes I do have patience. Do not mistake my curiosity for not having patience. :)

Btw are we allowed to say hell on here? I hadn't thought of that. Someone else had said it on a post so I figured we could say it.

If you couldn't, nokmirt, it'd be censored (I think)
Actually home for the feed so might get to watch it, as opposed to reading the updates in the thread on my phone from work.

If you can't say a word it'll automatically get snipped out before you even post it. I live in Scotland, where we usually say 'shite' as a swearword. You can type that here as well, but not with a letter less...
Anyway, that's all off topic. You were at this PAX, nokmirt, and kept us informed, asked questions even, I believe. I think it's great that you did that, so that deserves a thanks.

What I'm still hoping for is that somehow the newly emerged info will be put together in a thread. Most of it came to us in a chaotic way, with unwatchable video's - "the interesting bit is after 1 hour and 5 mins." and people on other forums posting what they picked up... Also due to time zone issues I have little idea of what actually went on, I guess I'm not the only one.

I was actually on the internet asking questions in the chat room during the live feed. 2K Greg was asking Dennis Shirk some of the ones I posted. There were some other posters from the forums on there as well. We were able to get quite a bit of info. Today, I will try to do the same. So if there is anything you'd like me to ask let me know and I will post it. :)

Also, the interviews I rewatched were not the best quality, especially from yesterday.

As fas as the swearing bit, Buccaneer seems to not have a sense of humor for that kind of thing. Funny that he uses a pirate name to describe himself. I never heard of a pirate type giving someone a lecture about swearing.

Its going to be on soon. Sorry to say my viewing of the Ten Commandments will have to wait. Yes I swear, but I am religious in a traditional sort of way. Besides Charlton Heston is the man!

Sorry for being totally off topic (regarding G&K, not PAX), but I just saw the XCOM promo and the game looks *really* promising!

I'm afraid, there is more money to be spent, this year.

As am I - it's nice to see not every remake is guilty of taking the series onto a course of consolification. (I'm looking at you, Syndicate.)

We've still got about an hour and a half, non?

Potential Questions if I am on then (doubt it):

1. Can we get more word on the Maya UA/UUs?

2. Will there be any more Native American City States?

3. Can all Carthaginian Units cross Mountains or only Elephants?

4. Are there any faith based components with Ethiopia?

5. How will Austria's intermarrying of City States work? Will they still be counted for Diplomatic Victory?

Yeah, an hour 15 min right now.

Seems they are replaying the old interview.

Here are questions I want to ask.

1. Are jewelry and porecelain the only two special resources available to mercantile city states?

2. What is the Carthage ship UU?

3. Is there another era in the techtree? We know now that the Great War is not an era, but people have said that there is another.

4. Could you tell us about a new resource or two? PLEASE!!! We all saw the screenshot of mystery sea resource, which looked like anything from turtles, to clams, to god knows what. I thought it was turtles myself.

5. What is the remaining civ? Is it the dreaded Zulu? Is it Sumer? I have even speculated poor Australia. That did not go over too well. I mean we already know the other 8 civs, and that Spain is free, who I already have, but tell us the last one.

6. Can triplanes and the WWI bomber go onto aircraft carriers? The reason I ask this is simple. For one of my games I plan on reworking my tech tree a bit to stop at the end of WWI. Aircraft carriers will be like one of the last things that can be built, I, may move them up a tech or two to fit them someplace close to the other WWI units. Then I will end at the industrial era and points will decide things. I will try to have all WWI civs in the game, or civs that could possibly pertain to WWI, and it will be a team setup beginning in the Industrial Era, or one Era before. Anyway, I would imagine triplanes should be able to go on carriers, probably not WWI bombers though.

8. How many religious city states are there? How many of each type of city states will there be?

9. Do embarked units defend themselves melee or ranged, or does that change from era to era?

10. Is there a medieval ship between trireme and caravel?

11.

? I have to think does anyone else have any ideas?
