Supreme Court of the United States

The Spring term seems to be wrapping with a record number of unanimous decisions, more than half. The name case was Trinity Lutheran, which came down 7-2. The interesting spin-off is in Colorado, where Doyle v. Taxpayers for Public Education, a school voucher case, was vacated for further proceedings.

The unanimous lifting of the travel ban injunctions is interesting, but does not go to the merits.

Any other comments on this low key term?

Here's a conservative leaning article:

Seems new justice who shouldn't be there is voting the most conservative line possible. Just the judicial legislator they wanted.

The Republicans are trying to pass a health care bill with 15% approval. Anyone still trying to sell the narrative that they can be cowed to acquiesce to moderation on account of not wanting to look bad is an ignoramus.

You know what I've realized though? You know why the GOP engenders such fierce loyalty? Because that loyalty gets rewarded. They are willing to march the party off a cliff to pass a terrible bill simply to reward the people who voted for them based on their promise to do so.

Contrast that with the Democrats. They had full, filibuster-proof majorities in Congress and controlled the White House, and all we got was a lousy Heritage Foundation health care bill. The lefty base got NOTHING from Obama, just like they got nothing from Clinton. The real base that the Bernie Bros want the party to ignore in their favor - black women - got crushed by Clinton and got a little from Obama's DOJ. And the Dems paid an enormous price for their health care plan anyways, despite ignoring much of the base in crafting it. For all the crap the left throws at the GOP, they dance with the one who brung 'em. It's key to their success, and the leadership knows it.

Of and by are requirements of for. Or at least we still seem to understand it so. Wonder if we'll lose that. I kinda hope we don't.

Trump the same as Obama on 2nd Amendment infringements:

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-court-guns-trump-20170525-story.html

Trump is advocating for lifetime infringement based on a prior conviction of a nonviolent crime.

Last month, acting Solicitor Gen. Jeffrey B. Wall, representing the Trump administration, filed another brief urging the court to hear the appeal. He said the lower court’s ruling “if allowed to stand … will place an extraordinary administrative burden” on federal judges since people with a criminal record may go to court and seek an exception to the law.

What? Land of the Free, except when it is too inconvenience.

EDIT: Also, sorry didn't note the date. Still though.

I can be suggestive by showing a part of my buttocks, it doesn't mean I'm a porn star
But it would make you eligible to try out.

Republicans will once again care about the concerns of black voters once black voters decide their cares involve a return to segregation? That's a rather dark view of the Republican party, is it not?
Republicans have never attempted to care about the black community for as long as I can personally remember, so I'm not sure where you're going with this.

Who needs approval when you can just draw the districts a bit more "creatively"?
