Switch 2 version confirmed

I wonder how much better Civ6 turn performance will be on Switch 2, I think I'd rather play an older game with nice fast turns than a new one with slow ones again (like 6 on the original Switch).
AFAIK there's been no announcement of a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (this is what Nintendo is calling games for the og Switch with an upgrade pack for the Nintendo Switch 2 that allows for better graphics and in some games new game modes or story) for Civilization VI. So I don't believe inserting the og Switch CIV VI cartridge on a Nintendo Switch 2 would "magically" give the game better performance. I also don't believe Firaxis gives a damn about CIV VI performance on Nintendo Switch 2, but I hope to being proved wrong as I have the same wish as you:)

Switch 2 probably can reduce loading times from OG Switch due to faster SD cards? If you have the digital version. It doesnt even support SDXC OG Switch only uses? Maybe.

Thats about it. Aspyr never even bothered to fix the bugs previously either, Firaxis will never release upgraded version, thats for sure.

I didn't think it would be magic, just based on the faster CPU/GPU. But maybe they've gone out of their way to prevent that from happening.
I understood what you mean...but again I think you can only see substantial changes on the way the game runs if there is new code to benefit from the better hardware.

What is the physical "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition"?

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is a red 64GB game card that includes, in full, the Nintendo Switch game and the Upgrade Pack.

There’s no need to download the full game: simply insert the card into either a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 console, and the correct version will launch automatically.

Like most modern titles, there may be small updates or patches available at launch to provide minor fixes and improvements, but rest assured: the complete game is on the game card, ready to play from day one.

I'm going to assume this is going to work with all Switch 2 Edition games, but the key question that Fireaxis hasn't answered yet is how will it work for those folks who have the Switch 1 version right now. Will it be free like the Xbox and Playstation versions? Or will it be a required $10 upgrade? My guess is the latter.

I'd expect a $10 upgrade, especially considering that the base game is $10 cheaper on the Switch 1 than on other consoles.

I expect you can play your original Nintendo Switch Civ VII cartridge or digital game on you Switch 2 the same way it runs now. If you want the better graphics and mouse support Switch 2 version than you might have to pay something extra. I believe that extra will not go beyond 20€.

Upgrade pack is $9.99.

Edit: doesn't seem like it will have a Switch 2 Edition with the upgrade code packed in:

I still believe there still will be such a release, specially when DLC packs come into existence. That's the release I'll spend my money on.

I can't wait to try out civ 7 on the switch 2. finally, in addition to the graphics, we will have larger map sizes

It seems this does not apply for Civ7, as Gamespot says that the physical edition only includes a code https://www.gamespot.com/articles/s...tendo-switch-2-physical-edition/1100-6531441/ .
