That IS a regular caravel. The chance that its got this far without sinking is 1/4 x 1/4 x 1/4 = 1.56%.

on second thoughts the correct calc should be

3/4 x 3/4 x 3/4 = 42.2%.

Now I'm wondering if I should try the same feat myself. I never thought to cross the atlantic with a regular caravel before. Actually the English have got iceland and greenland there, might be able to pull it off with even better odds.
