Ahhh, my first sg here. Here are the settings:

Civilization: Rome ( Up for debate, but i knida want to try out commercial with the new patch :D)

Difficulty: regent

Size: Large

# of civs: 12

Type: continents

% of land: 70

Barbarians: roming

all others setting are normal.

THIS WILL BE PLAYED WITH THE NEWEST PATCH (v1.29f)

All nations that fall three or more techs behind us in the tech race are proclaimed "idiots" and we must declare war on them. We feel they are inferior and do not have the right to live on the same planet as our "smart" people. We must build all scientific wonders, and if another civ beats us to a scientific wonder we must declre war on them and capture the city where the wonder is located (peace can be made with them as soon as we get control of the wonder).

I know the Romans arent scientific, but its up for debate. If you dont want to be them, just say so in your post.

Also, i was considering the nuber of techs behind us at which a nation must be for us to declare war on a them. Three, too much, too little? Tell me in your post. The 24 hour to conferm/ 48 hour to play rule will be in effect AND ENFORECED. Im tired of waiting three days for a player to play.

All suggestions welcome.

O yeah, 5-6 players max, but ill start when we get four.

Save will be posted as soon as four people show interest in joining.

Ok thats the second time thats happened to me :arghh:

Count me in, sounds interesting. On regent however, you may want it to be four techs, but then again on a large map... I give you my fair warning: if the game slows down to much on me by the modern era, I'm out (sorry). But I'd like to play until then ;).

Ok only one more player untill we can start. :D :D

I'd like the order to be:
1. gunning1
2.exsanguination
3. trickey (me)
4. player # 4
5. player # 5

i dont really like being the first player, so i hope you guys can go before me. I forgot to mention, 10-20 turns per player. (Gunning1, i wouldnt mind if you decided to play 20-30 turns your first time up, just to get things started.)

Hmmm, 4 techs behind for us to declare war.... If you think so, then ill do it. What do you think gunning1? Ill go with the majority.

I don't like to go first either, so would you like to go first exsanguination?

oh aye... I guess so. I don't know how my starts are, so lets hope they're good.

shall I wait for player #4?

May as well start now. Btw, A.I. respawing is off, and so is cultually linked start.

Go ahead, hopefully we will have 4 players by the time im don of my turn :D

I'll play, I can't stand morons :)

What happens if we fall behind in techs at the start? I think a good civ for this gameplay would be Greeks or maybe Persians.

How about only win by space race? Would fit the theme well.

Name every city after a scientist too :), you can use MY name heh heh.

will start tomorrow. In the meantime, here is a new diplomacy.txt just for this SG (only the war texts have been changed).

I don't usually play with Rome but no problems.

The last time I played out a Rome game was my very first one on Chieftain :lol::lol:

got it, will post soon. Probably will play only 20 turns (I'm used to 10 but let me get it rolling).

PS - why is commercial special since 1.29f?

im not sure exactly what they did, but they powered it up so we should make alot more cash$$$$

Trickey - no difference so far.

1 - We start on wines with two shielded grasslands + a river nearby. Move the worker to the river to get a lookout. Move settler west so we start on the river, and consequently on the coast. Wines still in radius - NICE starting position.

2 - Rome found. Worker mining shield by river. Research set to Pottery, 16 turns.

7 - Warrior trained, another ordered up.

8 - Worker begins to road mine grassland, will road wines next.

10 - Warrior built, settler ordered as pre-build for granary. Pottery in 6.

13 - We get Ceremonial Burial from a hut. Wines connected, worker irrigating wines.

15 - We discover Pottery, research set to Bronze Working at 100% (20 turns). This will allow for the Colossus, a HUGE boost to our science.

18 - Change Rome to granary (almost forgot!). Change worked tiles: unmined shield grassland (2/1/0) to irrigated, roaded wines (3/0/2). This gives us faster science (more commerce), and faster growth. Granary in 10.

20 - We are last in the "largest nations of the world" (I wonder why?). We'll see about that.

21 - Pop a goody hut. Thracian warriors.

Notes: We have AWESOME land around us and no civs in sight. Once that granary is completed, pump out settlers. We should be able to go settler-spearmen-settler-spearmen, or maybe even settler-settler-settler. Make sure the mined grassland (ON THE RIVER) and the irrigated wines are being workedat all times. At size 1, make your call. To the north is a coastal spot with a river + wheat AND cows in an initial city radius. That city should be high priority, but probably not until maybe city 4 or 5. Start expanding north and south, those are the best lands, east should be done just for security.

Good luck!

(Trickey - post an OFFICIAL turn order in a new post and in the first post, I HATE it when I don't know whose next).

EDIT: Moderator: the upload system won't upload my file correctly. It says it was uploaded, but it isn't there and if I type in the url it says "File not found".

They boosted the corruption's fighting. You can have 25% more cities than non-commercial civs before corruption cripple your economy. It was 12.5% before.
And there is always the cheap banks and marketplaces.
