Tactics is where it's at.

Just a personal openion all you Big Shots. Tech to your desired goal as fast as you safely can. An Army with superior numbers, will indeed still have a hard time fighting a foe who is more advanced then they.

They may be worse than simply Big Shots. They are giving out misinformation guised as information. Thanks for the tips. For all the "jokes" no one can refute the soundness of your advice.
I tried using some of your strategies with the intent of debunking what was written only to find - that you were right. My riflemen beat off an army of longbowmen because i was able to get to rifling. Thanks again.

Here's another pro tip: In war, use your units to attack the enemy. The great matters of the day are settled by blood and iron. It is tactically sound to assail your foes with the most stalwart of your men, especially in overwhelming numbers. If equal in number to the enemy, use the terrain and don't come out in the open. If greater in number than the enemy, seek and destroy his army. War is best won when the enemy's army is totally annihilated. Also, don't forget your supply lines. Try to cut off the enemy's. If possible, live off the land to reduce costs and logistics. A few columns of troops converging on the enemy base is generally a sound manuever. Encirclement is superior. Don't forget the manoeuvre sur les derrières.

I shall now go read Why I am So Wise.

Robust stragegies are more complicated than simple ones. Success is important to obtaining your goals. If you do not have goals, obtain goals that are obtainable and then obtain them through the successful completion of task you set out to complete with your goals. If you find yourself in a situation that is both bad and impossible to get out of, try to think of a way to get out of it that is not as impossible as your previous ideas. Bad situations are not situations that are bad and therefore you do not have to get out of them. This assumes that you had previous ideas that were impossible to achieve through your efforts. If you did not have previous ideas, come up with several that are impossible and then discard them so that you can come up with new ideas that are not. Flexibility is a desireable trait.

In my latest game as Qin Shi Huang, Shaka was sending Catapults, War Elephants, and Swordsmen against my piddling CG2/CG3 archers and Combat 1 Spearmen. Guess who won, despite having neither the advanced units or the numbers?

talks about them for about nine million pages.

Sith code? interesting. and both come from the hallowed halls of the glorious "War Academy"

Now lets look at Earth-God's Quatrain

or Quatrain 2

Don't be to bold, Fake an all out attack: then run like HEEEL only in the hopes of having the enemy follow you into a waiteing ambush, another trick when you run is turn around (VERY PRE PLANED)

For the long term strategy of increasing the size of your empire, here are four ingenious tactics of gaining cites.

1. Build a settler unit, move it to a tile at least 3 tiles away from any city, maybe more, and settle.
2. Use the culture tactic. Build up a lot more culture in a city close to an enemy city, and produce a lot more culture than that city with many methods of producing culture.
3. This is my favorite tactic. You can be at war with another civilization and use military units to take the city from them using overwhelming tactics.
4. Finally, if you are tactically clever and concise during a war, you can tactically demand they give you a city as a peace concession as part of your over all strategy.

One more point. More and better implimented tactics are necessary for obtaining boobs, than donuts.

...was it Shaka? :king:

...was it Shaka? :king:

I'm guessing that Shaka didn't notice that the city was probably on a hill...

Still I was needing this healthy amount of wit and sarcasm, after a long day of work.

I think after a couple more games I'll be able to post something poethic yet unbelievably cunning, for now I'll just keep on reading in awe...

Tactics: A comprehensive guide:

Defend your cities.

Attack others.

Don't lose.

No, the city was on grasslands. I'm really starting to love the Protective trait. Shaka had the score lead before he declared on me and then proceeded to drive himself to the bottom just trying to take that first city.

In one breath I have denied the existence of and thus nullified my entire article  I need more lessons on logic and existentialism from the wise God of the Earth!

An apt choice. Wisdom through suffering is all that anyone, especially the OP, is going to gain from this thread (aside from a cheap laugh or two).

The OP does share a love for aphorisms with Nietzsche. A promising lad.

IMO, using units to attack the enemy is for noobs. Units should only defend, and only on select tiles. Mostly fish.

I bow to you TheMeinTeam emperor. 670 posts. I wonder how many of them are cynical. Just a personal openion for you Big Shot, [Game] is won by attacking. Offense is the best defense. [Game] + attack + 1 = win. Fish is teh n00b.

This thread delivers!

Earth-God makes my head explode. I cannot seem to understand what he is saying.

Is it his useless attempt at some pseudo-rethoric? Is it his "hey, I read a smart sentence in a book and I wanna post it but I cannot quite remember it so I try to make up my own smart sentence and fail miserably" tactic? Or is it his cunning subversive tactic of stating the most obvious points (1+1=2 and if his army > your army, you're in trouble)?

Either way,
I am fascinated how out of nothing came a comic relief that just made my day.

1. write nonsensical thread
2. try to add less sense in every subsequent post
3. ???
4. profit!!!

(sorry, couldn't resist)

cheers

When surrounded by enemies, surrender like a wise man. Live to surrender a another day. Violence isn't the solution for a diplomatic victory. You need your civs to mate and become more. More votes, more victory. Laugh behind your enemies back. Chuckle if you want. Men cant mate if they are dead. Simple evolution.
