That's fine. I'm prepared to live in perpetuity in this subjective universe with the rest of the world. I just don't appreciate@Gwynnja. Its worth realising that Aelf's wisdom transcends personal criticism. However until you achieve enlightenment you are trapped in a subjective universe.
Sun Tzu? My references include not only him, but also Bismark, Napoleon, Jomini and Clausewitz.
But I've reached a new level of awakening now. I've realised that the OPTIMAL METASTRATEGY for all of the Civilization series till perhaps the [infinity] - 1 edition (a joke, btw) is to roll for a good start, turn on random seed and save and reload for the best results. Based on my correspondence with TF, I've decided that way too many things in the game is random. No, I'm not referring to your idea of randomness and optimality, Gyawnja, but to something that trascends those entirely. And a lot of time can be saved if we learn not to tolerate the bad results generated by the RNG. Don't wait until all the battles have been played out. Press [ALT] + F4 if necessary.
seems like a passive-aggressive personal attack to this unenlightened observer. It doesn't matter. I know what you're thinking, and frankly it bores me.
Back to plotting to take over the Civ world...

Oh, well. I overestimated the general public's knowledge of CFC inside jokes and wit...![]()
i am not getting what you mean by "marching all over his lands" and then declaring war. What you are saying makes no sense. If you march into enemy terittory and declare war your units leave the enemy civs terittory and occupy the nearest empty friendly space. This is not civ 3.The AI,though I am not sure is not prepared for a full scale suprise attack. Be border friendly, keep your eyes open to the enemy's relations with the others, have good relations with some leaders, then while you are useing open borders, when the time is right, you are well defended & marching all over his lands,..BAM suprise... declere war! I am certain the AI will treet you differently after that, they will not trust you,etc...,take it from there.
Exactly and to the point. Moreover this is a strategy game, not a tactics game. Ignoring some tactical elements can still win you the game on the contrary not having a general plan while excelling in tactics will surely lose you the game.pigswill said:Tactics without strategy is noise.
Check around your friends lands, where things are, solideres, levels, highly defended areas, lay of the land & valuable resources, etc.. Then back off to a real good spot giv'em a shout and let him know he got a war on his hands.i am not getting what you mean by "marching all over his lands" and then declaring war. I meant it to be a statement on tactics, so that other people instead of knocking them would take each at face value and use their heads to post other helpful tid-bits. Your Avater shows how serious you take any of this anyhow. Got 1 good tactic to post?So you mean scout out his land first?
Well thats where i've been going wrong i guess, i generally blindly rush in and hope for the best.
I am unsure what this thread is for? to state the obvious or were you meaning it to be like the thread at the top of the page?
Got 1 good tactic to post?
Really, BCLG100, how dare you discuss [THE GAME] with such an avatEr?Your Avater shows how serious you take any of this anyhow.
Scouting is a prerequisite to attack. It has nothing to do with tactics. Tactics=maneuvering in combat. I can't see the "maneuvering" part when you can't maneuver the armies in combat in the game. Simply placing your 'ready to be attacked' stack in hills is no tactics but common sense as someone above has already posted.I meant it to be a statement on tactics, so that other people instead of knocking them would take each at face value and use their heads to post other helpful tid-bits. Your Avater shows how serious you take any of this anyhow. Got 1 good tactic to post?

You're clearly not qualified!

Well quite, what do i know?obviously my avatar is an indication of my skill or knowledge pertaining to both civ and tactics used in history. If we are using my side bar as an indication of knowledge presumably my post count beats everyone in this thread, but wait! davemcw has also posted in this thread and he has beaten me before http://www.civstats.com/viewgame.php?gameid=51
oh noes! what to do now!
And what is wrong with his avatAr?
Hey, I meant no offense! There's nothing wrong with this avatar. Just exaggerated Earthgod's opinion about it. And copied his spelling.
Don't miss all the fun in this thread![]()
