Here's a link to the presentation:

Last year, I was able to examine a breakdown of their anticipated releases for years FY2024, FY2025, and FY2026 and a total number for those three years to ascertain that Civ 7 wasn't going to release in FY2024. Unfortunately, this year they did not provide a forecast for specific years. All they are saying is that they have 22 major titles to release in the next three years and 5 of them have already been announced. Therefore, the portents for Civ 7 release date are inconclusive.

I welcome anyone else's analysis and discussion of this data.

So then, 2026 probably :( long wait
I'd say that's up to your optimism/pessemism ratio. It could release this fall, but they didn't list it here because it hasn't been announced yet. It could release in FY2025 or FY2026. I just can't say which from this data.

I find it disquieting, if not surprising, to find these 2 goals out of 5 main goals for the company:
- Promoting engagement and growth in recurrent customer spending
- Leveraging expertise from Zynga across our entire company

then to further define the first point:
- for console/pc titles, Drive virtual currency sales in existing games
- Develop post-launch monetization plan for most of the new titles in the pipeline
- Create add-on content for key-titles, including season passes and DLC packs

That last one is the normality for prior Civ titles... The rest plain scares me...

I see a push for a mobile CIV game as a distinct possibility, and serious monetization additions to our beloved franchise.

Hope I'm wrong and these won't apply to CIV

Still, all this content doesn't give the feeling that CIV 7 is anywhere near

EDIT: And thx @Eagle Pursuit for the link and infos... interesting stuff in there

EDIT2: I AM somewhat glad to find that the CIV franchise is considered in what they call their IMMERSIVE CORE games....

One thing I did notice today is that the slate for the Summer Game Fest has been announced, and 2K will be there. It's June 7th. If we don't seen a trailer for Civ there, it's probably not happening this year.

Can you imagine "Do you guys have phones, you have phones, right ?" Civ moment :)

Last year I spent an inordinant amount of time delving into those definitions to figure out which category it falls in.

They've tried mobile Civ. Numerous times. There's a new(ish) casual mobile Civ game currently in China and a few other markets. And Civ 6 is on every platform including IOS and Android. I wouldn't worry too much about that corpo-speak.

So then, 2026 probably :( long wait
If GTA6 comes out in 2026 I doubt Civ67 will also come then as well. 2K would probably want those games to come out in different years since it would probably look better in their financial reports. So, odds are if Civ7 doesn't come out this year its probably going to come out in 2027.

Long time lurker but just made an account so I could post this. In the earnings call they mentioned coming in fiscal 2025 the next iteration of “a beloved 2K franchise” announcing in the next few weeks…something about announcement summer games fest? I don’t have access to my Bloomberg subscription right now but I will check tomorrow the exact wording. Could that be Civ7? If not, what else could it be? I’m less familiar with other 2K games.

Follow up to the above: from a quick google search it appears that the likely contenders for the announcement are BioShock, borderlands, Mafia, or Civ. I don’t follow the other franchises so no comment on what is most likely. It’s something to be hopeful about at least!

I have seen a rumor that a Mafia game is supposed to be announced by 2K soon.

I am completely unfamiliar with any 2K titles except Civ, so correct me if I'm wrong here, but

I don't think a Mafia game would be from or part of a "beloved 2K franchise", would it?

Which would leave Bioshock, Borderlands, Civ or something out of left field . . .

It would be the fifth game in a series that dates back to 1998. Not quite as venerable as Civ, but I think it meets the criteria.

I was under the impression that GTA doesn’t fall under the 2K brand. The investor presentation has brands that are considered 2K core brands - Civ, Borderlands, and Bioshock are the 3 largest it seems

The earnings report is about overall finances from Take-Two, not brands. Take-Two is bigger than 2K. GTA is published by Take-Two directly, not under the 2K brand, same as with Red Dead Redemption, but that's because Take-Two owns Rockstar.

If you take a look at their definitions on slide 14 of the presentation, "Immersive Core" refers to the big Take-Two games, it combines sub-labels like 2K with Take-Two titles like GTA or RDR. Only Private Division games are excluded explicitly.
