Team Sirius

Correct me if I'm wrong, but anything that would be desirable to keep a record of, such as tech trades, alliance terms, etc, there would be an email to confirm the details, and that the email would be the official offer.

Yep, Azz has it right.

When using a chat for diplomacy, would you follow it up with email?
Most likely, yes. From past experience there will usually be some issues touched on in a chat that can't be confirmed at the time, so a follow-up email will be sent once the whole team has been consulted.

And would the email be the official version if there were differences?
Ideally, there wouldn't be major differences because we wouldn't make any important agreements before consulting the team. For instance, if an alliance or potential tech trade was brought up in discussion, I'd expect our response to be something like "sounds interesting, we'll discuss it with the whole team and get back to you ASAP". If a particularly enthusiastic chat member accidentally says something that could be construed as conflicting with a later email (e.g. "yeah sure", "that sounds great", "let's do it"), the email would always take priority as the official version. That's simply because the off-hand comment was from one member in the heat of the moment; no-one on Team Sirius can speak for the rest of the team without consulting them first. The version which reflects the whole team's perspective (the email) always takes priority over any individual's version.

Personally, I see chat as a way to conveniently and quickly discuss minor decisions. Anything more major needs to be discussed with the team and an official response (email) prepared - otherwise it's not a democracy game, it's just whoever's most active in the chats dictating the team's policy. And we don't want that. ;)

Hope that answers your question. :)

I've added a membership tally in the first post. I've divided it into two categories based on the responses in this thread - if I've misread and/or you want to shift to the other category, let me know. :) Presently it looks like what is below.

Confirmed member list:

Lord Parkin
hell_hound
caveman1917
HUSch

Probable member list:

BLubmuz

I think I'd like to join your team LP, I really like the name. :) I figure at worse I can learn a few things from a master player.

What is the level difficulty we'll be playing?

Is this a MP game that the other teams will be in at the same time or is it each team runing their own game and we see who gets the best score?

Welcome to the team, AlphaShard! :)

Difficulty hasn't been set yet, but I'm guessing it will most likely be Monarch or Emperor. The last game was Monarch, I think.

Yes, this is a multiplayer game where all the teams are playing at the same time and competing against one another. Thus there will be a lot of chances for war and diplomacy between the teams. Good fun. ;)

Ah cool, so we'll vote on what Civ and Leader we'll do for this team?

Yeah - or two civs/leaders, if we go with the double-civ setup discussed in some other threads. We'll certainly discuss our civ/leader choice(s) as soon as we get our own private forum - which should hopefully be not too far away now. :)

Ok i have decided to join this team, since i liked how was things going in saturn...

I would like to throw my hat into the ring here as well. It's hard to believe how long I let my Civ addiction slide. Why, back in my day C&D was just in its infancy :old:

In all seriousness, I like the proposed structure of this team, and I know Parkin as a good and respectful player from even the old days of CIV. So if I propose some :smoke: move I'm sure I'll be swiftly and politely given a write-up about why its merits aren't top form. ;)

Welcome to the team, pindicator! Glad to have you here. :D

Well Sirius did die to protect Harry. Oh wait you mean the STAR Sirius.....

A binary star system to be exact. Sirius A which is kind of like our sun, only a bit bigger, and Sirius B, which used to be a giant before it went 'boom' some 100 million years ago and is a now a faint dwarf star.

With the unaided eye looks like only a single star from earth though, hence the use of just Sirius when it's actually Sirius A which is meant.

Indeed. Although when I said Sirius I was referring to both stars in the Sirius system, as you'll notice by my choice of picture in the first post. ;)

@Masagin: Looks like you've hit the nail on the head there. This is indeed Sirius thread. Well done, good observation. :)

The cat looks grumpy or PO'd more than anything else though, IMHO.

Actually, would it be probable to play this as some sort of mini-mini-mod? Every team gets to put their own graphical leader presentation in. No game changes or anything, just the leader graphics. Could be fun i guess :)
