Tech Tree Editor

I've Always wanted to alter the techs myself, and when I think I finally find something, its obsolute and unlikely to ever be updated :(
 
Tech tree editing is really simple, just needs an xml editor and some time, and voila!
 
Reality is, if you have a large list of techs (like in my mod), it is almost impossible to assemble a good tech tree. You simply need to see the visual connections in these cases, and be able to move things around.
 
I'll do a search around; however, in an ideal world, I'd love to be able to move stuff around while viewing it- much less thinking involved
 
Hey Everyone, this tech tree editor is really great. Its too bad the TheLopez isn't around anymore.

I have a problem when deleting techs. I am using vanilla civ and it is patched and up to date. However when I delete techs and restart a new game with the "test" save I always end up starting with a mechanized infantry instead of a scout and i can build all the old wonders. Any suggestions on how to get this to work? Thanks a bunch.

Same problem here, except that I'm using the old basic civ IV version. Isn't there some other way to remove useless techs without any negative outcomes? The XML stuff is damn too tricky for me
 
Swirl900: It's a mod, you just start a game with it.

The Techs you create with the vanilla version compared to Beyond the sword are missing the lines:
...
<iAdvancedStartCost>100</iAdvancedStartCost>
<iAdvancedStartCostIncrease>0</iAdvancedStartCostIncrease>
...
<bVassalTrading>0</bVassalTrading>
...
<bRiverTrade>0</bRiverTrade>
...
(With <bVassalTrading> = 1 for feudalism and <bRiverTrade> = 1 for Sailing, iirc)
Warlords adds vassal trading but the Warlord version of the editor ran quite unstable for me so I'm using the unexpanded version and will later do the rest to BtS in the xmls.

Still a very nice editor, makes me wonder, what else is all possible.

When i using CIV4 tech tree editor in civ4 and editing techs comes up problem...
I delete some tech example COMMUNISM and it's deleting normal, but when i save and colse editor and start palying the TECH is there AGAIN :confused::confused:??? I dont know what i do wrong when its not deleted thats happend every tech.

Please halp me !

Hello again now i need help to editing techs. How i can edit what units/buildings new tech give? I tried chance it but i dont find how? Can you help?
 
What buidlings/units are connected to a tech is not done in the TechInfos.xml, it's done in the UnitInfos/BuildingInfos.xml.

You are using Vista/Win7, right?
If yes: Run the program with admin rights, else it will not be allowed to save anything in the program files folder.

When i go folder and open unitinfo folder i got only infos for building improvements and controls. ? Where is units ?:confused:

Man, I'd so love to tap your brain on a whole host of questions relating to my modding activities, but I'd feel like that would be rude :)!
