Techno?!?!?!

As we speak, I am wearing a VNV Nation shirt and a Covenant tuque (I don't know if you use that word in England).

As to the OP. Calling it techno is the first signal of a newb ;) . However, that is okay as you got to start somewhere.

EDIT: Here is an example of a tuque
Nice:goodjob:

So what's the main difference between techno and electro?

Techno falls under the heading of Electronica, which also covers a few other different styles, including slowcore/sadcore, ambient and drum & bass.

Techno is the dance-style of Electronica.

So then many Prodigy songs must be techno, right?

I dunno, Prodigy have sort fo a dance/rock mix going on, whilst techno usually isn't assosiated with rock so much. Did you listen to any of the bands I posted up? If you like Prodigy you should defo look into Industrial music:)

What do bands like 'Skinnypuppy', 'Bauhause',and 'KMFDM' falll under?

Try " Vianna Calling" FAlcos take on Tecno
He was a child prodigy that gave up a life of conductin thangs in Austria for a life of ballads and euro + amero brand pop

He sold millions( 60 or so in Euro ASia) AFter he hit America with Rock me Amadous" a techno rap song, it went 1 on the' Black artist' Billboard category .

After holdin its place for 2 weeks they had to change "black artists" to RnB category. Falco made history helping to Bridge the gap between interracial indiffernces.

Heres the last song he wrote based on his renouncing Freemasonary.

Out of the Dark
You will all like this song. I put my word on that

He died in a car accident a few monthes later on clear day when a empty bus collided with his off road vehicle (drugs or booze were not found in tox report)

Heres the legend RIP

Does Electronica is a part of House Music or House Music is a part of Electronica?

Well for me in this field of music i like more:
Scooter;
Daft Punk;
Body Rockers;
DJ Tiësto;
Safri Duo;
and Bob Sinclar.

(But the last 3, I like them in House Stile)

Here some of Scooter's:
Jumping all over the World
Maria

OK, I found a bands that I like their styles.

Laibach. I search for something like that, like Rammstein. Industrial Techno sounds good as name, but don't know any artists.

EDIT: On second thought, Apoptygma Berzerk isn't that good.

EDIT2: I thonk I just found from where came Rossyia's name... Or maybe it means Russia?

I've never really been a fan of Apop either. Soem stuff's ok nin a club environment I suppose. What did you make of Combichrist by the way?

And have you listened to any Nine Inch Nails before? Their new album is available for free download on their website at the moment.

If Industrial is more your thing, Gravity Kills is pretty darn good. They're like a cross between Nine Inch Nails and Rammstein. Their first album (self-titled) is awesome.

Songs to check out:

Enough
Guilty

Yes, I know NIИ, but I don't like them much. Definately good music, but not mine type. And some songs are a bit... wel not industrial, but emo...

Never heard of Gravity Kills before. I like Rammstein and I was nicely suprised by Laibach with that nice electronic music, simillar to Rammstein. I would like to know more bands like this.

Um, I heart trance.

I love you dude!

Trance in NZ has died the commercial-house-music-death - bar the bad-as-gangsta-drum-and-bass scene, all the money-makers are pushing look-at-me-look-at-me-I'm-so-cool-house :p

heh ;) of course, that's as opposed to happy-fairy-wings-trance :)

I'm listening to some trance by Yahel at the moment - progressive, melodic - happy-fairy-wings-in-love-with-the-world

This is the kind of thread I always end up discovering new music from.... it's the best thing about the "long tail" and music.... before u had to read in a magazine or hunt around in a record store to find something cool -- which made the choices always subject to the "gatekeeping" of editors and music store buyers and etc... -- which would lead inevitably to mediocrity and the prevalence of "poser music" -- i.e. stuff that you want to like because you think it's cool, not because you really like it. Music journalism especially creates high-profiles for really lame stuff, because journalists are always looking behind their backs, trying to profile something that they think in 2 years people will think they were cool for liking "way back when".... I GREATLY prefer the democratic nature of threads like these, where people simply list their tastes and you can just look something up on itunes or youtube and check it out for yourself....

These days I'm really into techno and techno/rock and stuff like that -- try searching for these songs:

Thomas Falke "Revolution On The Dance Floor"
Groove Cutter "My Shooter"
Control One "Just A Little Bit"
Ian Carey "Redlight"
Kevin Weg "Dead Radio"

I don't usually go for techno but these are sort of like a wierd crossover between rock and techno/trance.

Most of them I got (LEGALLY) from this list on itunes -- http://electricnation2010.com/tracks

wtf, with ~7 main genres of edm and hundreds of subgenres, the three you mention include "sadcore" ?? Wait wait wait, not just "sadcore" but "slowcore/sadcore"

Spoiler :
:lol: Gotta love underground music fans. I feel you though--I do it too, it's just like, imagine going to some rave with the flyer having the house room, the breaks room, and the sadcore room.
