Well, lately I started to enjoy techno music, but I am still a newbie in this waters, so I need a recomendation.

I tried to use my last.fm as help, but it's not enough.

What I enjoy is drum'n'bass and ambient. Mainly I go for Prodigy and Fatboy slim. And if I know every song of The Prodigy, it's not that way for FS.

I need a good music recomendation. Something ,more punky, with rhytm and bass, or something ambient or rave. I enjoy The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, Pendulum and a bit of Chemical Brothers. Other artists I had heard 1 or 2 songs that I liked are Psycho Freud, Aphrodite and Faithless.

Please, no house music as it annoys me.

Discussion is encouraged, so please, don't just list me 3-4 songs. Say what bands you like and what do you think of the top dnb artists for example.

Sounds like you might like some old school stuff...

KLF, Utah Saints

Soma FM has a couple of good ambient stations.

Prodigy and FatboySlim are techno ? :crazyeye: You're not looking for techno songs. :) But anyway:

Kraftwerk and Aphex Twin are rather nice techno bands. I kept being told that Orbital and Underworld are good too but i never got around to listening to them.

As for stuff close to what you like - cant help you there, i dont listen to too much from those types of songs.

Hey kid...wants some pills?

if you mean electonic music, and not just techno, I can recommend infected mushroom

about as close to punky as you'll get is industrial, I think.

for "ravey" perhaps you mean trance, which has Oakenfold, Chicane, Digweed.

atari teenage riot (for the punky drum and bass) (andy C for drum and bass)
for acid and techno (laurent garnier)
ambient? try boards of canada and brian eno
quality in all? try aphex twin.
and for new rave try goose

Wow, I didn't even know the word "techno" was still in use. I thought it died with "alternative".

Some good recommendations on this thread. I like D'n'B myself. Whatever that Gino sounding stuff my neighbour plays is my least favourite.

The Crystal Method is my favorite.

Songs to check out:

Trip Like I Do
Busy Child
High Roller
Cherry Twist
Comin' Back
Roll It Up
Ten Miles Back
Starting Over
Born Too Slow

Oribtal's Green (1st) and Brown (2nd) albums, still standstrong as two fantastic albums despite being (gulp) over 15 years old now.

Chemical Brothers', Exit Planet Dust, Dig Your Own Hole and Surrender albums should not disapoint.

Leftfield - Leftism, need say no more.

Yes I'm old skool :D

I swear there must be 20 threads on this subject.

And you can check my last.fm for more info.

Well, I forgot to mention Afrika Bambaataa. And in Rave I mean something, which was described me as rave.

By ambient I mean Mike Oldfield and Robert Miles.

Thanks for all the mentions to that moment.

If you like Robert Miles, you'll probably like ATB, who has put out a lot more stuff than Robert and is generally better, imo.
