Chairman Jerome "Debs" Anderson's People's Republican Army of North America seized Chicago after several weeks of hard fighting on the 23rd of December, 2042. On Christmas Eve, the Combined Syndicated States of America was born...
Combined Syndicated States of America
Ideology: Revolutionary Syndicalism (Socialism)
Centralization: High
Political Freedom: [RESTRICTED]
Tech Expertise: Psych, Materials, Energy, Computing, Bio
Political Structure: Theoretically, the CSSA is a highly-decentralized democracy ruled by the Congress of Syndicates. In practice, political power is concentrated into the hands of the Public Safety Committee and Chairman Anderson. The PSC oversees the transition from the old capitalist modes of government and production to the new socialist modes, giving it far-ranging policing and planning powers. The PSC is also responsible for the country's foreign relations, which at this time boils down to supporting fledgling socialist states and parties in North America and protecting the CSSA's geopolitical interests.
Ideology: Futurists
Government: The Kamaraj
Centralisation: Medium (50%)
Political Freedom: Wide
Technological Priorities: (1st: Psych, 2nd: Bio, 3rd: Energy, 4th: Computing, 5th: Materials)
Claims: Punjab East, Punjab West, Rajasthan
Capital: New Delhi
Government: Progressive Sangh Aastha, Green, Democracy, Inclusiveness, Counter-nationalist revolutionism
The Kamaraj
The Kamaraj is composed of a council or assembly of 17 elected representatives who compose the core of the Dominion government. They represent the corner stone of the government and guide policies for the DoI as a whole. Hundreds of smaller Kamaraj representatives are ever present across major cities and towns associated with the DoI to provide individual leadership to those in the area. These things include distribution of healthcare and food, military protection and voice for the citizenry of India.
A principle beholden by the DoI since its inception as the early Kamaraj is the idea of being indivisible. After the first Kamaraj of 6 members were stuck in deadlock over initial policies, a seventh member was added. This was known as the Prime Numbers Principle. The PNP states that any council must be composed of members that complete a prime voter. This new policy was also coupled with the Civil Responsibility Clause which prevented Kamaraj members from abstaining on voting and having their current votes, as well as passed votes logged.
The PNP has helped the DoI move forward on a lot of divisive issues that would have other wise been stuck on the table. With all Kamaraj members required to vote, a majority was always reached, thus nothing was left on the table. Election for Primary Kamaraj members take place every 5 years with minor Kamaraj members up for re-election every 3. This appropriates maximum legislative time for the government and allows for the passage numerous laws and reforms in a timely manner.
The Union Faiths / Sangh Aastha
The Sangh Aastha, Sanghaasthanism, or Union Faiths; is a newly arisen globalist, inclusive and progressive union religion in India. It is comprised of a perfect mixture and silver-lining between Hinduism, Islam and Buddhism, incorporating their way of life and spiritual belief in such a manner that it can be practiced without contradicting teachings and without stepping on the toes of the different religious practitioners.
Muslims turn to their sacred book, the Quran and the Hadith, or stories and sayings about the Prophet Muhammad, for moral guidance. These guide Muslim's everyday life, business practices and traditions. Everything they do must honor Allah, and act in accordance with Quranic law. Buddhists follow the Five Precepts, or guidelines for what to avoid. They should not harm any life form, tell lies, practice sexual misconduct that harms others, take anything that does not belong to them or take drugs or alcohol. Buddhists believe that engaging in these acts will cloud the mind, and lead people away from the path of finding true enlightenment. Hindus believe in dharma, or that everyone has certain responsibilities and obligations to perform, depending on their station in life. Dharma, while describing morality, also describes what controls the universe. All living things, from plants and animals to gods and humans, have a specific role to play. The Sangh Aastha is the culmination of all of these precepts.
Following the end of World War Three and after years of reclamation and repair, the Kamaraj saw a need for a new type of soldier. A soldier which would be able to defend India without hesitation and fear. A new breed of warriors was needed to ensure that no one would tread on Dominion soil ever again. Thus was the Trance Augmentation Program established by the Indian Defense Directorate. And the Rakshasa were born.
The Rakshasa
The Rakshasa are the Dominion's next generation combat soldiers and pilots. They are composed of military enlisted whom have received "trance" augmentation. Selection for the program is rigorous beyond the standard of most military special forces and is entirely voluntary. Early screening has revealed an unexpected aptitude for trance in populations of particular high Hinduist and Buddhist faith.
Specifically, those individuals who were most pious in their faith, who had the most discipline over their meditation, were found to score very highly in psychofeedback and biofeedback tests that form much of the entry examination for skilled soldiers and pilots seeking to enter the new elite program. As a result, the new programs are filled with particularly faithful Hinduist, Islamic, Buddhist and Union Faiths members of the military, those with the greatest Aastha (spiritual enlightenment mixed with piety).
New recruits undergo extensive bio-augmentive and psycho-chemical upgrades to their exocortex, making them acutely aware, at a conscious level, of where their focus is, of their state of conscious acceptance, ‘mental non-being’, even clarity- effectiving allowing them to exist in a state of constant deep meditation. Combining this physhofeedback prorgam with very minute and limited doses of neural plasticity drugs, the would-be trance soldiers and pilots learn to submerge their conscious desires, their frantic everyday concerns, even their sense of ‘self’ and to just ‘be’ in the moment.
They learn to trust their unconscious mind, that part of their mind which neuropsychologist call the ‘reptile brain’- the cerebellum, to act without conscious thought. Together with the extensive bio-augmentive exocortical investment in this part of the brain and the reflex arcs originating from it, the soldiers learn to act without conscious thought, to be a passive observer to the actions they themselves initiate. This doesn’t mean that they are not in control of their own bodies- quite the opposite- merely that the control occurs before they are aware of it.
It is the solemn purpose of the Rakshasa to act as the most physically and mentally superior peacekeeping, counter-terrorism, rapid-response and self-defense force in human history. To excel beyond the abilities of any human. To ensure that no terrorism or aggression will befall their sovereign nation ever again.
Would it be alright if I only one claim? I have something written up for only Hokkaidō, but if not, then I'll think up something else.
