Seeing as land is growing sparse, I'd like to know. How much more settling do we want to do? A couple cities, or as many as possible? What would you like as far as settling goes in Term 2?
I would like to see decisions made to take into account optimal settling for once we've acquired cities from the Indians and Dutch along the 13 tiles per city density idea. Typically the AI is more widely spaced than we would like for a 130K run.
I would not settle every available spot beyond AI boundaries, but keep our empire connected. That means at present we have very few places to settle, but space will open up after the wars, and we should fill that up.
Settling density should depend on corruption really.
Hope this is not consider a threadjack, but it might be a good idea to relocate our palace to the center of our side of the continent (where the dutch are now), we could settle wide around that (> 12 tiles/city) for a productive core, and more dense further away, with the density increasing to ICS for totally corrupt cities. Our present core is somewhat tight (for a core region), I think.
I usually don't like to move the palace (for sentimental reasons, I suppose ) but seeing that ours is in a rather bad spot, we may want to consider this.
I agree with Moth that we want to settle cities as the war progresses. Its likely well switch production in Camelot to troops for awhile. Obviously if we don't have settlers we cant form new cities. But as soon as we can we should get back to churning out settlers.
